Hey guys, another mid week DIY video. This one is how to change the front diff on a Nissan GU/GQ Patrol. Let us know what you'd like to see next and if you find these videos helpful/interesting at all 👍
I reckon ur onto it mate. Love ur adventure videos, and I’m sure lots of people love ur diy stuff. For me, changing out a diff is easy, but I’m sure there’s heaps of people that wouldn’t have a clue. But now they do! Happy for ur channels growth mate.🍻👍🎯🇦🇺
Another real life No bias, No 🐂💩 instructional episode 👍 1) Yesterday was advised by the former mechanic of multi Baja 1000 winner Larry Roeseler whom said.. Quote - "Excuse me that I am a dumb Yank, but in 40 years as a professional race mechanic...this has to be one of the clearest, direct and simplest instructional video in diff removals I've ever seen! Those Aussie boys know exactly what to do like (Berto) says a mechanlical decription, then followed by the assistant mechanic who firstly repeats what the mechanic just said (so viewer dont have to rewind back) and then explains 'how too' do it in very easy to understand instructions - terrific work boys"... "back home in the USA, these such mechanics rare as F**k as all young mechanics all want is" to work on new EVs" - end quote.😊 2) SURELY there's SOMEONE from a tool supply company out there NOW watching this video could send some basic tools such as a simple creeper to lay on under vehicals?..🤔 3) AND SOMEONE PLEASE..FFS, offer them a new/SecHand vehical HOIST?? 😁 where in return..you will recieve $1000s 💰💲💵💵💰 of FREE advertising.... Great work TT and team...keep them coming! 👍👍👍
One of the best progressions to your channel has been Berto! Can sit and watch this mechanic with his knowledge as much as you can film! Great work Tyler !!! PS: what’s Berto’s thoughts on catch can on a 200 series?
1min & 17sec, Berto I’m surprised ya know what it is, ratchet & socket BHAAAAAAAAAA LOL always razz’n old mate out. These 2 work well together & mad informative 👍👍
Just a curiosity question, are you not supposed to fill the closed knuckle (that holds the CV joint) with grease? I know on Toyota's it's important to grease the inside of the knuckle as well as the CV to keep the CV itself lubricated.
@@TylerThompson90what was the problem with the elocker. I do like when UA-cams show the problem/how to fix or even the outcome of it like Aussie arvos do
What ended up being the issues with the issues with the E-locker? yours and timmys problems have scared me off them and was thinking of going the tjm pro locker side if theyre really that problematic but would prefer to go E-locker to ommit the need for onboard air compressor
Yeah, I know what you mean. But then you watch others with ARB air lockers and they are always failing due to airline problems. Maybe the TJM brand are more reliable?
@@darrenc4096 I heard the tjm are better design as they don’t have to seal through a rotating housing? Not too sure haven’t fully looked into it. To be fair even if leaks your air compressor can just keep topping it up and lock it in anyway, as opposed to the e locker which just flat out won’t lock
Was pretty much all installation error in this circumstance, was bad/dodgy wiring from the start which caused them to not lock properly all the time and crash in and out and then ended up damaging them. Hopefully should be good from now on, never had any problems with the GU ones. I probably would go arb air lockers next time in a 4WD like this that is used for more extreme 4wding though, they work a bit better in the tough stuff
Replacing the rear wheel bearings would be a good video I reckon, havnt dowe that since owning my patrol and I hear its a shit show of a job getting them out
So should I buy a 79 2.8 auto for the kids an I? After careful consideration between n80, Nav, Gu, I keep coming back to them. I absolutely hate that they are so top heavy and rubbish off camber. But as an all rounder, they ae pretty good off road if you keep the top weight down, twin locked solid front, good resale, I need a reliable dual cab for work, they can tow pretty heavy stock, they look sick, I gain at least an inch while driving them, and my ex hates them. With a bit of cash, superior seem to be able to make them flex, which is half the battle, so yeah good chat. You've talked me into it mate....... I feel like we think alike mate wink wink
Hi Tyler ( and Burto) …liking these DIY videos. As a suggestion for future content, could you use your Dad’s MUx for repair and mechanical work on an IFS vehicle - these days there are plenty of us viewers that run more modern dual cabs and the like Keep up the good content Nb please invest in a garage creeper for poor ‘ol Burto ! Cheers
@@TylerThompson90 So how are the Goodyears going? Any complaints? I put a set of Duratrak RT’s on my GU Wagon last week, my last set of Duratrak’s lasted 110,000kms with regular rotations… there was so much meat left on them I put them on the camper trailer..
Another elocker failure when are they gonna sort there shit out. So many people have elocker issues. Calls for a quality mid week episode tho love the banter.

Thanks mate! Ill have to ask him
What was the issue with the locker ? Reason I ask is I’m looking at locking my patrol and there seems to be issues with some types

Haha yep! Cheers mate
Great work 👍
When are you installing ARB lockers ?
Cheers! Will try air lockers on the next build I reckon, both e-lockers are working good currently
