I wish the DAS was molded on the F35. If what I've read is correct then any attempt to get close to an F35 would lead to the enemy being spotted by the thermal cameras and the pilot being alerted to their presence. You can't sneak up on the F35 and they should be able to see through the F35 giving no blind spots to the pilot giving it a huge advantage in BFM.
@@grimreapers I hope Eagle makes modifying easier for you guys. I'm kinda tired of seeing missiles flying at 60,000ft when they should be over 100,000ft. You guys have done a great job with the limitations though.
Vectored thrust is also useful for high altitude control in thin sir above 60,000 feet. That can be useful for high altitude interceptions. The spy balloon shot down by an F-22 for example. Additionally, it can potentially shorten the required runway length to takeoff. Which might help get fighters in the air a bit quicker and from more potential bases. The downside is cost, complexity, and weight.
As far as I am aware, Raytheon is building the new AIM-9X Block II-plus missiles for the F-35 but they are externally mounted with a stealth coating to reduce RCS. I haven't heard of who might be developing a newer internally mounted version; any idea who has that contract? The Raytheon Block III contract was cancelled a few years ago, no?
Internal mounting is gonna be difficult or impossible due to the AIM-9 being a rail ignited only missile, even with LOAL updates it's not gonna go inside. The Peregrine missile in development is a bit more promising though, it's about the diameter of an AMRAAM but half size with an RF+IR seeker. Carrying 2 JATMS (4 w/ sidekick) and 4 Peregrines should become a standard AA loadout whenever they enter service.
@@forzaelite1248 Yeah, I thought it was on the table for the Block III version but it was cancelled back in 2016. They haven't actually decided on the replacement yet, have they? Theoretical: F-35 in Center Ukraine. I have been pondering on the following scenario: Would a wing of F-35 operating in center Ukraine, between Poltava and Dnipro, always 100+ km away from the border be untouchable by Russia? To far away from S400 to be locked. To far away from the front to be locked, but able to harass anything over the front with Meteors? Especially enemy choppers. Stationed to the west on decentralized improvised runways. I am aware, that the training would take forever and that the planes on the ground would be prime targets for missile strikes. Could Ukraine set up a data link without AWACS? How threatened would Russian planes penetrating into Ukraine to get a lock be.
DCS dosn't model missile guidance that can be provided by other US fighters. An AWACs being required is Cap being lazy with coding and not a real limitation IRL.
They would dominate as long as they stayed well back from the Russian borders. Ukraine has recently been smashing their air defenses hard, including some S-300 and S-400 which has made occupied Ukraine more open to aircraft.

I'd expect F35A by time J-35 is deployed to have that Sidekick missile launcher. So it'll have 6 vs 4 missiles onboard.
yes
wouldn't a chinese naval plane more likely be fighting a B or C naval variant F-35?
Dark scared GR into stalling 😂
I wish the DAS was molded on the F35. If what I've read is correct then any attempt to get close to an F35 would lead to the enemy being spotted by the thermal cameras and the pilot being alerted to their presence. You can't sneak up on the F35 and they should be able to see through the F35 giving no blind spots to the pilot giving it a huge advantage in BFM.
Agree it would be great.
@@grimreapers I hope Eagle makes modifying easier for you guys. I'm kinda tired of seeing missiles flying at 60,000ft when they should be over 100,000ft. You guys have done a great job with the limitations though.
So in a scenario like this does thrust vectoring really show it's worth?
@duanemckinley9353 I was thinking for the f22
Vector thrust kills speed remember
Vectored thrust is also useful for high altitude control in thin sir above 60,000 feet.
That can be useful for high altitude interceptions. The spy balloon shot down by an F-22 for example.
Additionally, it can potentially shorten the required runway length to takeoff. Which might help get fighters in the air a bit quicker and from more potential bases.
The downside is cost, complexity, and weight.
Well it probably would have stopped me hitting the mountain in Round 3...

Yup, it's on Spino's latest F-15EX.

Raytheon has the Peregrine, Lockheed has the JATM, and Boeing got $21M to produce something by 2027. I think the Raytheon deal is identical to the Boeing deal, but they have until 2029. Peregrine definitely seems to be the leader, but it's difficult to judge what the military is thinking sometimes.
The Chinese and Russians may be bad at making fighters, but they sure do look cool.
I wanna see how the J-35 does if it gets the PL-21 missiles
Long range missiles won't be much use against stealth planes, close range heaters seem to be best.
Friend or foe indicators!?!?
When I was 9 I would have loved to have seen a battle between the original Battlestar Galactica and an Imperial Star Destroyer with a side battle between the TIE fighters and the Colonial Vipers. I think I would put my money on the Empire. I doubt it's possible to simulate that with this software but if you can you've just got to do it.
Difference in missile quantity didn't make a difference because every died too fast for it to matter.
Can we do drone swarm, but Not USA as a defender but attacker. Lets say Strait of Hurmuz .... USA sends 20-100 drones to take out Iranian speed boats parked in the beach.... while hitting Neuclear sites at the same time..... I would like to see our capabilities on drones...
Do you have a video about Israel w/ or w/o USA attacking several Iranian nuclear sites? ( several at the same time (Top gun type of story with several sites... American drones plus B21, F35... ), thx
Well it turns out the f35 and j35 are not the same 😂
Close enough - so the winner of this type of war would be who can build the most!
Was anyone using IRST?
We're not sure if the J-35 will have IRST so we made a gentlemen's agreement not to use it.
@grimreapers if the J-35 doesn't have it that's quite a disadvantage.
Yo
Cap, the F35 cant actually carry the Aim9 internally.
yes it can, only the Brits have let their junk hang out
Block II-plus at least has stealth coating to reduce RCS... not quite the same.
@@plinnytheother6107 No, there are no aim9 ejector racks for the F35. Missiles fired from internal weapons bays require ejector racks to push the missile free from the aircraft, it's why the F22 can only carry aim9's on two stations. Also Brits don't use the aim9 at all.
True, and though there are reportedly efforts ongoing to correct that, the AIM-132 ASRAAM can be carried internally.
@GR makes pee a little with suspense.
Simba > Maverick
Again it seems Cap has a very special affinity towards Chinese jets
Yeah .. If the Chinese had originally developed the F22 instead of the USA .. he would still say they are sh*t ..Funny isn't it how the Sh*t Chinese not even in service yet plane still managed to shoot down most of the opposing team narrowly losing .. leaving the winning team with only 1 F35 . not bad for a sh*t plane is it ? ..
You guys give the chinese stealth aircraft waaaaay to small of RCS's.
Ya but remember american pilot’s RCS is far larger 😂
I don't know why we would even fantasize about this yet, they just starting taking their first flights with it. Nothing is gonna be for sure yet.

Cap I heard about a foiled Ukrainian sea raid from Vylkove or that area heading to western Crimea. Supposedly mig-29 and su-24 aircraft dropped cluster bombs on the small attack boats about 40 miles west of Olinevka and eliminated 4 out of 8 boats, forcing the rest to retreat.
I'm not a bot just wondered how cluster bombs would look boiling the sea like that. Maybe try how it would go if the boats had manpads too as in your earlier videos, would love to see starstreak defended sea raiders with 30 or somehow 40mm bomb throwers modelled one day.
Now then, another hilarious installment.
Will investigate thanks.
I think the j35 team should be real chinese so it would be a fair game
Ethnicity, race, and religion do not matter in a warplane.
"Fair" or not, that would be interesting, but they have to real citizens of the communist mainland, not ABC or some other flavor of the vast Chinese diaspora.

Why are we even entertaining the J-35? China doesnt even have production models of this thing built yet. And we all know its going to be completely inferior to American stealth fighters in every way. Nobody does it better.
At this point we may as well start doing battles with the NGAAD American F/A-XX 6th gen fighter if we are going to throw planes into battles that don't even exist in production yet.
