Nb: this is coming from someone that is not from any of those countries, it’s just something I noticed in the comments’ section of most dcs videos.
For one it's about engagement. DCS has a relatively small player base so for a YT channel about DCS to become popular (or profitable) they have to get viewers who don't fly in the Sim. The fastest way to do this is to cater to echochambers. You seem like a primarily English speaking person which means the channel you'll see will be in English and those channels cater to English speakers to become or stay profitable. People love watching videos about how great they or their country are so american YTers are likely to cater to that.
No wonder. Commblock figures are always inflated, maintenance is poor, tech base is inferior, management is rigid and inefficient, pilot training is lacking. I live in Mordor and know that for a fact. Western figures are always understated, management is not without issues, but competent and motivated, manufacturing and R&D are top of the line, maintenance is good, pilot training superb. These parameters are defined by the political system, and can't be improved without changing it.
It's US, China and Russia. These people seem to think that their toy is the best and shout at each other in the comments for reasons I can't understand. Strangely the Europeans do not seem to exhibit this behaviour. Maybe it's a cultural thing? People from UK are quite happy to accept that our military is not very good at all for example.

If the J-35 is too heavy maybe they should sacrifice some fuel space for 2 more missiles to be somewhat equal to the F-35. Also, if they could incorporate thrust vectoring that would be a great help.
@@wombatgirl997 The J-35 simply not having as many missiles as the F-35 reduces the J-35's lethality versus the F-35. Two equivalent jets in a fight with one having 2 more missiles most likely means the one with the additional missiles will win. So while the J-35 and F-35 have similar performance at range the F-35 holds a MAJOR advantage with the additional 2 missiles. If I were the Chinese adding two more modernized thermal/video guided missiles to the J-35 would be an absolute MUST to be equivalent to it's direct rival the F-35. Obviously adding two more missiles means giving those missiles more internal space to fit them in which means eliminating some fuel storage. Adding just those two additional missiles puts the J-35 on par with the F-35's lethality at range. And although eliminating some of the fuel storage to fit the two missiles reduces the J-35's range it also increases the J-35's thrust to weight ratio. So while it's range is reduced a little it gains equivalent lethality to the F-35 and better maneuverability. Also, I don't know if the J-35 actually had thrust vectoring in this simulation, but having thrust vectoring is absolutely essential in a modern dogfight. Having SOME thrust vectoring is better than having ZERO thrust vectoring.
These are kind of silly - sillier than the 4th gen equivalent. In the real world the missiles used against low observable aircraft have to be fired using FOX-1 tactics ... depending on the firing aircraft sensors. This gives F-35 an outsized advantage against anything else flying or proposed. (Outside of NGAD and FA/XX)
Think this is the first I have seen the J-35 in any similation in any DCS content, this will be interesting... This also reminds me little of a senario I suggest way back, what if you do a 2v2 carrier simulation with 1 modern and 1 older group. Ex: USN 2020's + 1990's vs the PLAN 001 + 003 groups, or maybe something else... like from Russia with kuznetsov + Shtrom? the UK? or India? You guys keep up the good work guys!!
9:40 I would be more concerned with the fuel consumption and therefore worse range, especially since the engines of the J 35 seem to be optimized for higher speeds to achive the higher top speed
The US Navy funds both the Marines and Navy. When the Super-Hornets were procured, the Marines opted to forego updating their aging Hornets to Super Hornets in favor of waiting for the Joint Strike Fighter. Currently, there isn't a massive strategic need for the Navy to upgrade their Super Hornet fleet to Lightnings. If you combine the Marine and Naval Air assets, the US Navy is coming up on 130 F-35s in its inventory. The Navy took ownership of two squadrons of F35s for contract purposes and deferred additional 35Cs to allow the the Marines to increase their combat effectiveness

Cap the GR aim120d3 is buggy and under preforming. Also china doesn't have any production j35 right now so if we are doing a future battle where they have a bunch all working off of a carrier, then the f35 should have AIM260s
I'd have liked to see this progress to an ASUW mission, once the ACM had been decided. The F-35C has a strong anti-ship capability when loaded with JSOW-C, and SDB II. Naturally, it would be even deadlier when it could be loaded with Joint Strike Missile. If all stealth considerations are largely unnecessary, the F-35C could be externally loaded with LRASM.
Hey, just commenting on what you said about having one vs. two engines. Having one engine is much stealthier than having two, as it significantly decreases the surface area of the least stealth part of the airframe, the engines and center section of the fuselage. It also looks like the J-35 sacrifices some stealth body features in favor of better aerodynamics (particularly better low speed flying characteristics) and more interior space, similar to the F-35 in comparison to the F-22. Assuming the J-20 would be adapted with whatever developments China made with RAM technology with the FC-31, I would say the J-20 is probably stealthier than the J-35. The J-35/FC-31 is also commonly seen with a massive nose probe, and it is unknown as to whether that is a production feature or not. That would SIGNIFICANTLY increase RCS if this were installed, that alone would probably be larger than 0.005m^2.
So, as far as i know, the J-35 hasn't really even started production yet, let alone entered service. So this is a future battle. Why is the F-35 using AIM-120Ds and not JATMs?
If you think about it. Call of duty black ops think either 1 or 2 kinda predicted this. Think it was the battle map on the Chinese carrier. Had it own Chinese version of the F-35 which came true it’s the J-35. While haven the Chinese copy of the seahawk and the type 003 carrier.
Actually, China is building ships and aircraft at 1/3 the costs. That is why PLAN is getting very capable and big FAST! So it’s not just about total money but cost efficiency
Instead of J-35 or other stealth fighters whose stealth characteristics has to be guess work. I wish we get more 4th gen fighters that makes for more interesting fight. And there is literally nothing known about the weapons load out because the only one we ever had a glimpse of was the original FC-31 which was privately developed model by Shenyang that was never intended to be the final configuration but merely a technology demonstrator of sorts. So weapons loadout was definately not on the company's mind at the time . The FC-31 uptill now has so far been a private venture by SAC, we have no knowledge on whether the PLAAF/PLAN had decided to fund the project. For one we have yet to see a working J-10B/C model in DCS. Or the JH-7B fighter bomber.
The Navy would have at least 1 A wacks a long with the ships super powerful radar. Even the best stealth would be detected well over 20 miles. Now getting a good lock for missles is another thing but it would deff help way more than just the f35 radar
correct me if I'm wrong, in reality because of the helmet of the F-35, the pilot doesn't need to have the nose pointed at the opponent in order to lock and fire the missiles, right?
1 vs 2 engines..... hmmmmm Can I introduce a 3rd option? I think the best engines to use for a naval jet, is the Swedish versions of GE F404 (and F414??) , where it's designed to be able to ingest a bird, and still be able to operate well enough to be able to fly home. The number of engines is probably favoring the single engine variants, because 2 engines are twice as likely to have an problem. (and you're not going to fly any missions with an engine problem.) So the 3rd option is basically taking the best of both the other options. ;)
With current engine tech for the US market 1 engine is better than 2. Reason being is that with 2 you now have human error coupled with one engine taking the other engine out. The combination is a higher risk than a the single F-35 engine.

Just gonna say this but China tends to historically follow Russia in terms of stated capabilities, where as The USA and European NATO countries tend to understate their systems capabilities (ie Gripen and EF2000, both are VERY DEADLY). Also to note a few of the Chinese people I have talked to that live in the PRC all seem to think they have the capability to completely destroy the US Military and successfully invade the mainland USA, so yeah.
@@bussolini6307China promised they would have the Americans out of Korea "swiftly" during the Korean war before they joined. honestly I imagine that at some point every big military nation/military traditional nations like France, the uk, Japan and a few others will prolly end up making some sort of 5th gen aircraft at some point (maybe) and will obv take design inspiration from the f35/22 since their shapes and the general aesthetic of those planes lead to their stealth profile being what they are, even if the difference between the f35 and another 5th gen fighter ends up being 0.002 and 0.005 ish respectively, the difference there is minimal, but if it’s as close as that, I think then it would come down to the strength/quality of each planes armament and their targeting capabilities through radar and so on. Like let’s be honest with that point, let’s say both planes have the same radar cross section, and one has a more powerful radar (let’s say 25-50%), which one is more likely to detect the other? And thus get their shot off first?
All good points. I would add that the average USN pilot is much better than any PLAN pilot. Way more training, it's in their blood for generations, and so on.

Remember the F-35C's were put on hold because they were hurting the pilots when launched from the cat. The nose gear collapsed rapidly then sprung back up which put a whiplash into the pilot wearing that heavy complex helmet and they couldn't keep making them like that. Are they even back into production now...or did the Navy wise up and see that they don't really need that much stealth and the Super Hornets do the job just fine?
@@duanemckinley9353Wait, the Corps is flying the F35C? I thought the entire point of the B model was so they could have one that they could use without taking up space on the carrier?
Are you getting the RCS from the shape of the aircraft only? Does that take into account the RAM coating? Recently a US airforce guy let slip that the radar cross section on the F-35 is similar to the F-22 and the frontal cross section is even a little better. Also, the F-35 uses the AN-APG 81. Do you really think the chinese knock off radar is even close to as powerful?
@92HazelMocha Supposedly the power of the AN APG 81 and the networking ability of the F35 systems is making AWACS all but obsolete. That in itself is a boon for the ability of the F-35. I know it isn't possible to model the networking ability properly in DCS, but maybe there's a way to represent it somehow.
I'm not an experienced aerodynamicist, but why would the gyrfalcon have a top speed of mach. 1.8 while the lightning witch has the same thrust and is lighter has a top speed of 1.6?
Hey Reapers.. Quick question/request... I recently watched some released footage from the US Military of a weapon called a "quicksink JDAM" being deployed against a very large oil freighter. This missile in the video, cracked the ship in half with a single blow. Does dcs have this Capability, or something similar? And, since the real life weapon literally sheered a massive freighter in half with a single blow, how come other missiles meant to destroy ships, DON'T have the destructive power that some have in real life? Can u make a video of all the different missiles/bombs vs naval ships? Thanks. God bless. Cheers.
Sort of. Problem is in game we have the old style JDAM which can not hit moving targets. So it would have to be a stationary ship, which is a bit stupid.
I know the USA has 100+ years of carrier experience compared to China's maybe 12+ years. The USA has better logistical support for their carriers & aircraft. I have heard that the Chinese aircraft have many issues with their engines. The US Navy pilots have much more training & experience as well.
The F-35C does not have an internal gatling gun.. so unless you attached gun pods onto its wings then none of the would have been able to really have a dog fight. Why does the F-35C not have an internal cannon like the F-35A? I understand why the F-35B doesn’t due to the Lift-Fan, but why was the cannon omitted on the ‘C’ variant as well? Everyone is saying for weight….. But thats not the real answer. It’s not for weight. The F-35C still carries the weight. Its just not in steel and brass for a cannon. Its in FUEL. The F-35C is the variant that is supposed to have the longest legs, while maintaining extreme stealth from RCS. The Navy had the need for the greatest range, because that dictates how close the carriers need to get or how stressed their limited refueling resources will be. So they traded the gun in for fuel. The F-35C carries the most fuel of all 3 variants. Some right where that gun would have been. I may be wrong though. There may be something else in the works involving removing the entire gun with its system. So your buddy didn't "forget where the right key was" because there wasn't a right key to begin with. Thank you all. I hope everyone has a great day and stay safe. God bless America.

Really enjoying these scenarios. Still, what about submarines, specifically those with missiles. Say for example, an ohio class sub goes back in time and takes on the Japanese pearl harbor attack fleet. Yes I know this means using nukes, lots of nukes. You could set it somewhere else like midway or the marianas turkey shoot or something. I know these are equipped with icbms, but just for the sake of the game, we can start it out far enough away that these can be used to hit the japanese fleet its entire compliment of warheads. If possible, figure out if this ends up devastating land based installations with radiation and tsunami sized waves and how far away from the numerous ground zeros . Just guessing that it wouldn't take all of the nuclear warheads on an Ohio class to neutralize the Japanese fleet, and that thered likely be enough left over to nuke the japanese mainland. In fact, I can't help but wonder if a single Ohio Class Submarine would have enough firepower to singlehandedly defeat or at the very least cripple the Japanese war effort in 1941.
What I saw in the beginning is that unlike other naval battles the humans rushed forward! In other battles it was always the AI that engaged each other first before the humans arrived! And because the blue side got more missiles it could engage more enemies early in the same time while sucking up a lot off enemy missles with better evading than AI. And when blue AIs arrived in mass and started launching it's missiles it came to an uncontrollable numerical advantage! I don't know why this battle started differently? And why wasn't the same amount of missiles were given to both side? And I hope it wasn't just for blueside bias to pleasure the valued (American) viewers! I am skeptical... Something was off here!

I was just listening to the armament for the Jets and I paused. Now do you think that is the best load out? Seeing that they really can't see each other till max 22 miles, so by the time you lock and are able to fire you'd be around 18ish miles. Would just a load out of close range be the best? Cause I think the close range works better anyway cause they are IR missiles. Seeing you are doing stealth on stealth basically it will be easier to beat an AIM or PL than a IR missile. Western figures are always understated, management is not without issues, but competent and motivated, manufacturing and R&D are top of the line, maintenance is good, pilot training superb.

Hello, Cap! I'm too hoping you're doing very well!

@@grimreapers Thank you!! Does the mod include the alterations that the team has made such as the FM,RCS adjustments?
F-22 has two engines
any idea why I don't have a cockpit for either the j20 or j35?
So, as far as i know, the J-35 hasn't really even started production yet, let alone entered service. So this is a future battle. Why is the F-35 using AIM-120Ds and not JATMs?
9:38 one more thing though, how sexy is that black metallic skin.....love it!
The j35 looks like a love child between the raptor and the lightning. And also you can tell in the Americans voice. Of their determination to win :)
Pretty crazy when you think about it because black ops 2 came out over ten years ago.
Wonderful to see without the navies being involved.
It always come down to who spends the most money! Merica!!!
Is the J-35 in Production?
Wiki predicts 2026/27
is there a reason why nobody shows the f 35 cockpit?
There is no F-35 cockpit in DCS yet.
(and you're not going to fly any missions with an engine problem.)
So the 3rd option is basically taking the best of both the other options. ;)
Fair comment.
Nice vid
With current engine tech for the US market 1 engine is better than 2. Reason being is that with 2 you now have human error coupled with one engine taking the other engine out. The combination is a higher risk than a the single F-35 engine.

Also to note a few of the Chinese people I have talked to that live in the PRC all seem to think they have the capability to completely destroy the US Military and successfully invade the mainland USA, so yeah.

honestly I imagine that at some point every big military nation/military traditional nations like France, the uk, Japan and a few others will prolly end up making some sort of 5th gen aircraft at some point (maybe) and will obv take design inspiration from the f35/22 since their shapes and the general aesthetic of those planes lead to their stealth profile being what they are, even if the difference between the f35 and another 5th gen fighter ends up being 0.002 and 0.005 ish respectively, the difference there is minimal, but if it’s as close as that, I think then it would come down to the strength/quality of each planes armament and their targeting capabilities through radar and so on.

Recently a US airforce guy let slip that the radar cross section on the F-35 is similar to the F-22 and the frontal cross section is even a little better. Also, the F-35 uses the AN-APG 81. Do you really think the chinese knock off radar is even close to as powerful?
Power =/= fidelity. The Mig31 has a more powerful radar than both of them, but far far worse fidelity.
J-35 radar is the more and most powerful than any 5th gen 😊
@jonathantoymaker Well now you've lost all credibility. You're just trolling. Not even the Chinese believe that.

1.8 while the lightning witch has the same thrust and is lighter has a top speed of 1.6?
the F35 has a larger bypass turbofan meaning it trades thrust for max speed.
F-35 simply wasn't designed for high top speed. Was not in the design brief.
Hey Reapers.. Quick question/request... I recently watched some released footage from the US Military of a weapon called a "quicksink JDAM" being deployed against a very large oil freighter. This missile in the video, cracked the ship in half with a single blow.

I know the USA has 100+ years of carrier experience compared to China's maybe 12+ years. The USA has better logistical support for their carriers & aircraft. I have heard that the Chinese aircraft have many issues with their engines. The US Navy pilots have much more training & experience as well.
I think "meimingzi" means "no name"
NEW META?? personal underwater " scooter" marketed on Amazon for example. Extremely small. So..let's say.. Droves of these launched via carrier modules into close range separation en masse. Thousands of torps?
