A lesser known fact about the F-15 is that the wider fuselage doubles as a lifting body, so the underbelly gives a surprising amount of additional lift along with the wings. Analysts who inspected the one-wing F-15 in the Negev collision found that if it goes fast enough, it doesn't need the wings, because the light weight and powerful thrust essentially make it a rocket. Adding canards to all the lift already generated pretty much makes the F-15 blatantly overpowered in a turn fight.
F-14 even more so than the F-15. The space between the engine nacelles not only helped keep the engines protected from each other, it also acted as another lifting surface if a wing was damaged.
I built balsa wood gliders, and the hardest one I ever tried was a pure lifting body design. It took a lot of nose weight and a negative elevator to make it fly. A flying wing is easy, most time they need very little if any nose weight.
The twin engines on the F-15 give it more thrust than it weighs. It's official thrust to weight ration was 1.05 when first produced. Modern variants make it 1.3. For comparison the U.S. space shuttle at initial launch has a thrust to weight ratio of 1.5. The F-15E Strike Eagle could go from take off to 50,000 feet in less than one minute.
I refused to go out until this was finished and I think I might have become single now. Have to admit seeing the F15 with vectorial capabilities brought me more excitement. Thank you all and well done Matrix.
I'd love to see a Vid with The F-22 VS F-15STOL/MTD VS SU-57 VS YF-23 VS F/A-XX in various rounds however I'm guessing F/A-XX will need Thrust Vectoring added and I kno The YF-23 didn't have Thrust Vectoring however was said to be extremely maneuverable so perhaps a highly maneuverable YF-23😅👍 It'd also be cool to see Thrust Vectoring Aircraft VS for instance F-16I Sufa with Python 5's and or Typhoon with IRIS-T's! Lol you kno I always say I dont like when you say your done with something bc there's no more ideas ;)
Now this looks fun as hell, BUT (with me, there's always a but..) when I see all that airspeed bleed off, my butt clinches so hard I could turn a lump of coal into a diamond.....instantly! But there's something to be said for ACM so close and slow, I could pop the canopy and use my sidearm!

@grimreapers it would be amazing if you could get the actual F15S/MTD TWR in, it was a beast at a 1.706 twr and in it's current state at Edwards AFB as the F15 ACTIVE it has 3D thrust vectoring, thanks for your consideration!
Did not Simba land an F-15 from the rear seat on an aircraft carrier using an internal monitor? Can you use the same monitor technique for visual cues to judge distance, which will the high alpha approach needed to land the plane?

Great fun video from everyone. Just a thought, try to do that in Harriers first, get used to the visual cues, then have another go with the F15's. I think 10 outta 10 for effort.
Matrix and Simba could be the best match up, both pilots with practical knowledge even if it's based on the older models. I want to know if Matrix has flown the Harrier IRL, because that is kind of the beginning of thrust vectoring. But Simba's EXP is pure performance F16
I did have a back seat trip in a Harrier T.4. Interesting experience - stop, then land, rather than land, then stop. However, the Harrier thrust vectoring was not designed for improving manoeuvrability. All nozzles rotate in unison acting through the centre of gravity, causing a translation rather than rotation. If the front nozzles could have rotated independently that would have been interesting, even more so if the rear nozzles could have rotated in the opposing sense. I suspect that would have produced insane pitch rates at any speed.
A combat capable version of the X-31 would be a cool mod. Because the X-31 had three dimensional thrust vectoring!! If I had "Elon Musk" money, I would commission Scaled Composites to build updated versions of historic aircraft. My top four are the Spruce Goose (H-4 Hercules), the P-38 Lighting, P-39/63 Airacobra, and a Gee Bee R1/2.
The F-15 doesn't sacrifice its speed and maneuverability/control surfaces for improved Stealth capability... Plus it has Canards which improve low speed lift and maneuverability... Face it the F-15 is pretty much the perfect pure Air to Air fighter that still retains it's perfect air combat record to this day of 104-0...
It would be cool if you could add thrust vectoring to your alien ships like the tie-fighter. Afterall a futuristic craft without obvious lifiing surfaces might be able to fly in any direction while changing said almost instantly.
Damn! I loved that fight for control and those attempted landings... Just too bad the damage model doesn't want to cooperate with the GR crazyness, but still great!
Ya CAP you need some practice at the Thrust Vectoring! Matrix and Simba have it down pretty good. Matrix is an amazing Pilot, and we all know Simba may be among the best in DCS so it only makes sense they have been able to get used to the Thrust Vectoring quicker. But you will get it eventually. Just thinking about it, I don't think I could even get one of those Jets off the ground. It has to be so Expensive to get all of this equipment to create the videos you do. Just to nitpick the details, didn't they have to remove the gun to add the canards to the F-15? Or was this using a gun pod on the bottom??
They removed it, guns are added in DCS so you can dogfight in them
F-35 gun pod added to belly.
That variant of the F-15 didn't have a gun. The canards blocked the gun port.
