not gonna be edgy like some people asking but the RWR is kinda important for locating the f35s here so would it be possible to do a rematch once it's working. I think with RWR, IRST and Asraams the eurofighter can win
The actual F-35 has a LPI radar that minimizes RWR returns, so yes it would work in DCS, but if the F-35 was fully modeled, it would be even more skewed in its favor. EDIT: The lack of RWR makes it MORE realistic rather than less
I'm looking into it and it's not that the f35s radar wouldn't give off a warning, it just won't give off a warning or a proper warning to older RWRs. Comparing DASS to other RWR systems out there it's quite unlikely it couldn't detect the F35s Radar. Unless we know exact figures we can't work it out and only assume. Even worse, The British didn't buy AIM-120D because there were expecting Meteor to be available by now. British F-35Bs are flying around with a mixture of old stock AIM-120B and AIM-120C. Both of which have a PKI below ASRAAM at under 30 clicks - let alone Meteor at extended ranges.
F-35B will not have Meteor until AT LEAST 2036 - not only is the short fin Meteor project running late, F-35B will require the block 4 software update - if the UK can afford it when it arrives. British F-35Bs are currently carrying old stocks of AIM-120B and AIM-120C as we didn't buy AIM-120D. Oh and by the way, RAF pilots have been tracking F-35B at up to 90 miles (depending on aspect) with Tranche 3 onwards aircraft - UK F-35Bs do not fly with Luneburg lenses. Stealth is history - modern RADAR data processing has already defeated it. Tranche 3+ Typhoon CAN guide Meteor on IRST data alone of course at some point the Meteor will have to take over with on-board RADAR. I wish we would develop an IR guided Meteor.
@@grimreapers yeah, totally appreciate that it's going to be difficult. It's supposed to be amazing and I wonder if it'll fit in the F-35 in future too.
Just saying : The F-35's RCS maybe around 0.002m2, but that's not 360° around the jet, past the F-35's 25-30° frontal it's RSC goes up to around 2.5m2, the 0.002m2 is between it's 10-25° frontal. Ie you can see the F-35 from a longer range more often, not just 19 miles always at all angles. The Typhoons DASS is a lot more capable then what you claimed in game. The IRST Pirate is capable of sending it's information to the Captor M Radar, meaning when the IRST has found a target the Captor M can be used to forces on a certain point with pushing more power to see said target. The Typhoon in general is a lot better in real life, then what you showed in the game, "Stealth" doesn't mean it's better or that it's impossible to beat. Plus i believe the F-35 isn't getting the Meteor till 2027 now, so it's still using the older less capable AIM-120's, not to mention the Typhoons are getting new Radar Systems, the UK Typhoons will be Getting the Captor E2 the most capable Captor version out of the 3 types, in I believe 2030 or sooner, plus the APG-81 and new APG-85 maybe the best now, but it's stated that the Captor E2 will give the APG-85 a run for its money, so the Typhoon 4.5 gen isn't out of the fight yet vs 5th gen's. The Typhoon is just getting better. There is a reason why the Typhoon is classed as the most deadliest/advanced Swing-Roll Fighter. I know you guys get a lot of your information from Wikipedia, so maybe that's why you ended up with the result you did.
I just think the F-35 is ugly. It's abilities are astounding, but it's ugly. Not A-7 or A-10 "So ugly it's cool" but it just looks pudgy. When the F-22 was first unveiled, I remember reading a quote from someone in Air & Space who said that it looked like "a Tomcat with a water retention problem." Those curved surfaces serve a definite purpose, but they don't look sleek or like a weapon. It looks like they were made to be easy to swallow. Again, both amazing aircraft, but the aesthetics just aren't there for me. Eurofighter, however, looks like you could put it on the end of a spear and really mess someone up.

I dont know about availability rates for the eurofighter but the F35 has SERIOUS maintenance issues where almost half the fleet is grounded and many of the early airframes have dramatically reduced service lives due to design flaws. We will start seeing some those F35s being retired within the next couple of years just because they've used up their gimped airframe life.
Gen 1 is original jets, eg ME262, Meteor. Gen 2 is next, think F-86, F-100, F-104, Mig-15, Mig-21. Gen 3 is things like F-4, Mig-23, Mirage 3 Gen 4 is F-14, F-15, Mig-29, SU-27. Gen 5 is tipified by stealth and massive sensor capability, things like F-22, F-35. Gen 4.5 are jets that are basically gen 4 airframes with some low detectability features to minimise RCS, and sensors close to what gen 5 has. @@LondonSteveLee yeah I wasn’t sure about this. I thought they might be using AIM-120Cs whilst they wait for Meteor
I wonder if the next gen ASER radar for the Eurofighter will greatly enhance its ability to detect/attack stealth platforms?
Why does the cockpit layout look different on dcs to pictures i have seen on the net. Does the f35 have a large area display or not?
Go Amy, it's a birthday cake!
lol
It would be interesting to see how the two aircraft compared in a QRA role.
Typhoon would be better as that's essentially what it's designed for. Much higher climb rate and thrust to weight ratio.
EF vastly superior for this.
Go, Battle Penguin!
How do you convert RCS to estimated radar detection range?
F35 is incredibly capable.
I still love the Typhoon though. Its agility is incredible...and its very pretty
Lol love the crash landing
Did you model the F-35 opening its bomb bay doors to launch a missile?
I can't be 100% sure, but I am fairly certain that the PIRATE IRST can be used to guide the Meteor.
If true, this would be ultimate. Doubt we can simulate it though.
@@grimreapers yeah, totally appreciate that it's going to be difficult. I'm trying to find the specific article I read, but basically all/most European Typhoons will be fitted with the ECRS RADAR, but the RAF ones have another package on top of that. It's supposed to be amazing and I wonder if it'll fit in the F-35 in future too.
@@grimreapersIt can guide Meteor, Tranche 3 software update onwards.
I love the F-15, but the Felon is a sexy bird.
Who requested this? Did they also ask if water was wet?
…we need to test your theory…not sure water is wet
Matrix is real 😂💙
Hey cap.
What do you think of the f 22 vs the f 35?
Hey Cap, the f35 cockpit looks not very f35 alike 😅?
Not at all.
The F-35 is the stealth archer of fighter jets. Kill your enemy first; never allow a fight.
Thanks now I'm imagining the Eurofighters as Skyrim NPC's with an arrow in their throat deciding that it was just the wind.
@@Kakarot64. "Must have been my imagination."
Going to say F35. Because 'Murica, phook yeah!
The F35B Cockpit isn`t realistic is it? When I google pictures, its full with 2 huge screens, and no old fashioned gauges.
You don’t have to mention leading zeroes ahead of the decimal point when giving units of measurement
Just saying :
The F-35's RCS maybe around 0.002m2, but that's not 360° around the jet, past the F-35's 25-30° frontal it's RSC goes up to around 2.5m2, the 0.002m2 is between it's 10-25° frontal.
Not sure if RCS changes in DCS based on aspect
@@dexlab7539 they tested it, its doesn't and that makes 5th gen fighters stupidly overpowered.
Agreed but we have to simply for DCS so just use front aspects as I suppose that's the "main" aspect.
F-35 with pylons is not full stealth
Performance matters not looks
Looks matter to the pilot - to get the chics
@@azoriusmage Yeah, he asked which one we liked more, I said that one looked better than the other. You must have missed all of the praise for the F-35 and F-22 respective performance and abilities. Sorry.
To me the F-35 looks like a sad, misshapen imitation of the F-22, which is a shame because the F-22 looks fantastic.
Typhoon is much inferior to the F-35, as the Lightning can see anything if it’s flying anywhere, but I just have too big of a soft spot for the Dorito
Ah yes, love these matches where the Lightning has all of its systems turned off. Look forward to your updates. Subsonic performance is easy for F-35s, even Bs.
Need a bad weather version
Likely wouldn’t change things too much. All radar guided missiles anyway
@dexlab7539 make it guns only lol
The Eurofighter does have an internal cannon, doesn't it? If the F-35B doesn't have a cannon built in the Eurofighter can get into knife-fighting range and turn it into Swiss cheese
Except it'll jam after the 2nd round - the Mauser on the Typhoon is hopeless - good old German engineering eh?
Go the opposite direction up high first
I'm amused by all the comments suggesting you gimp the (5th Gen) F-35 to negate/mitigate its advantages and maximize 4th Gen advantages. What the actual f***?!? Seriously, obtuse suggestions.
Why not use the A variant?
The very opening lines of the video explains it - it's a "British grudge match" - The British only have F-35B.
Ahhh, thanks
@@LondonSteveLee
It's literally just like clubbing baby seals...
Hey, I've been watching you all for a couple of years. Could you all do a British Carrier group striking Washington DC?
Will try.
Hi CAP, like to see these two planes sin a gentleman's merge?
Currently not worth it, F-35 flight model isn't quite there yet.
If RAF fighters went rogue in a coup.....
North vs South?
Britain and the UK are the same thing!
I thought one of them don't include Northern Ireland?
The Eurofighter is NOT british. Is british, german, spanish and italian.
Oooooh
"Watch me go above their sensors... BOOM!" HAHAHAAHHA
And yet people keep insisting that the F-35 is a useless system and not worth the price... Yet when it can utterly sweep the sky when used in the right way, is it REALLY? Those Typhoons didn't stand a friggin chance when the 35's are employed intelligently.
FIRST COMMENT
Typhoons
Cap to space !?
Always.
thyphoon becuse f35 wast of money
I disqualify this match, no RWR is absolutely essential here. Please make the modder to fix the RWR and run match again.
I mentioned this to another commenter but I will mention it here. The F-35 has an LPI radar. No RWR is more realistic than having a RWR.
It’s more realistic in modern fights rwr is mostly useless. The f35’s radar doesn’t give a rwr return
I don't understand these matchups. The Eurofighter vs. F-16 Block 70/72 would be more fun IMO.
Because it's interesting to see if the underdog can find a way of winning.
Hilarious how the f 35's are only good on paper and in digital simulation but has a billion in losses from crashes alone without ever being in real combat (fake bombing runs covered by real fighters is not real combat) 😂😂
Real life and simulations tend to differ like this. Reality is harder.
Dont like anything euro 🇺🇸
yawn
Agreed…only Merica can shoot down balloons 🇷🇺 🇨🇳
How typically American of you
I'm sure the USAF could make do without jet engines.
How do you know what gen an aircraft is? Need to learn something new today, thanks.
Gen 1 is original jets, eg ME262, Meteor.
Gen 2 is next, think F-86, F-100, F-104, Mig-15, Mig-21.
Gen 3 is things like F-4, Mig-23, Mirage 3
Gen 4 is F-14, F-15, Mig-29, SU-27.
Gen 5 is tipified by stealth and massive sensor capability, things like F-22, F-35.
Gen 4.5 are jets that are basically gen 4 airframes with some low detectability features to minimise RCS, and sensors close to what gen 5 has. Aircraft in this kind of gen are F/A-18 Super Hornets, Late gen SU-27 and similar versions, Eurofighter, Rafale.
SU-57 is Arguably a Gen 4.5++, super maneuverable and slightly stealthy with some (claimed) very potent sensors.
Gen 1: $,
Gen 2: $$,
Gen 3: $$$,
Gen 4: $$$$,
Gen 5: $$$$$….enough said 😂
