this looks super cool!!! i did want to ask, is it possible to make the directions more consistent? i've been using the vector map direction, checking the debug arrows it does not follow the path i had drawn. thank you for your time!
Thank you for your feedback! You can rotate patterns in material settings or tune "direction_mask_correction", "vector spread distance", "vector mask blur" and "vector intensity" in vector map parameters. I hope it helps
@@alexandralazarenko thanks for telling me about those! i still can't seem to tune things properly? i'm hoping it may just be because i don't have enough understanding of how these tools work though. it seems some of them still don't follow the flow of the guide lines even as i tweak all of these settings. it could be handy to provide users with tips on how to get a more accurate flow?
Sorry for the delay, for some reason sometimes I don't receive notifications. I'll try to make a video with tips. But if you need help, you can send me your project on alexa.lazarenko@gmail.com and I'll try to help you
Any tutorial so that my Fur material has the properties of the 3 materials in your Example? I can't apply "imput image" nor the other options, i create it in Ad Su Designer
Thank you! Seams are always present somewhere on the model due to the unwrapping. I can make a video how I hide them in Substance Painter. Like if needed :)
Hey, I haven't checked it Painter 2024 yet, but I bet it should work. Please follow these 2 important tips - 0:48 - vector map multiplier drag to 1 and 0:57 - switch to metallic referenced channel. If it doesn't help, please let me know
Is somebody out there who understand how to do this and could make a understandable tutorial pls? I am to stupid.. it does not work.. even when I play the video here in slow motion, I don't get everything, can't find the channels and so on, they have different names and the vector mask multiplier is not there :( I am a Substance Painter Beginner, pls help somebody :(
It seems the latest version (2.3) of the smart fur material linked in the description here doesn't have the same channel options as the older version. So this tutorial is out of date for the newest version of that material.

@@Pokolo413 Hi! I've just sent fixed project on your email, please check it ☺
Can this work for other materials because I want to better control the direction the material is flowimg through
Yes. I'm going to create a video how to prepare material for using vector mask :)
Important tips! 0:48 - vector map multiplier drag to 1 and 0:57 - switch to metallic referenced channel
I followed your tutorial and have had no luck when trying to change the direction of the fur with the brush paint layer
Please write me alexa.lazarenko@gmail.com and describe your issue in more details (may be with screenshots). I'll try to help you

Looks Great! I notice there are still uv seams at some areas. Is there a way to solve that?

This is basically painting a flowmap? looks really useful.
Yep, vector mask and flowmap are both vector fields. Theoretically you can use this tool for creating flowmap 🙂
@@alexandralazarenko Yes I bought it for painting flowmaps :) I can use it for so many stuff.
I'm glad it's useful for you:) Thank you for your feedback!
That's awesome. I'd love to know how to make that. Is there a tutorial somewhere ?
Thank you:) There’s no tutorial, I’ll think about it
@@alexandralazarenko i will pay for that
does it still work with Substance 3D painter 2024 (steam edition)? because i can't make the fur follow the vector line for some reason on mine

Very cool, do you think it would work with woodgrain?
Hi! It works with each material, which supports vector masks. I don't know if your woodgrain material has vector mask input

@irkendragon thank you for this comment! You are right, there was a mistake in material, I fixed it and uploaded new version
