Skillet has been around for quite a while and have a pretty diverse repertoire. I first heard of them when I was in middle school in the late 90s. My brother saw them live and it was the first time he saw a band use pyrotechnics on stage. Skillet has been all about their live shows from the beginning. I think the comparison is Linkin Park is fair, I think most Skillet fans like Linkin Park as well. In fact, Skillet's song "Victorious" is dedicated to Chester Bennington. John Cooper, Skillet's lead singer, said he always had fans tell him that Skillet's music saved their lives because it got them over suicidal thoughts, but it never really hit him how important of an impact that could be until Chester Bennington passed. He never met him and Skillet never actually played a show with Linkin Park, even though they did tour with several of the same bands. John always admired Chester Bennington and liked Linkin Park's music and was devastated to learn that he died, especially by suicide. So, that song "Victorious" tries to encourage people who are at the end of their ropes and to remind them of their worth.
Yeah, John did write Victorious in honor of Chester.
Skillet is a Christian rock band and all there songs are BANGING!!
Chester's voice can go from rough scream to really beautiful. John Cooper on the other had always has a rasp to it.
Greatest band in rock! They're not that much like Linkin Park, though I love them. Please do more Skillet--Psycho in My Heart, Collide, Comatose, Crossfire, Surviving the Game, Save Me, Monster.

Great band, great song. Not my favorite, but it's up there. They're more of a band of Christians than a Christian band. Only directly referencing God a handful of times, relying more on the theme of hopefulness to get the message across. They usually tour with non-Christian bands. Some of my "never skip songs" are Legendary (was a theme song for WWE at one point), Whispers in the Dark, Rebirthing, Not Gonna Die, Back to Life, Finish Line, Standing in the Storm, Forever or the End, Ignite....over 20 yrs they have a lot of great songs.
They use to be much more direct and in your face as a Christian band, but ever since they got with Atlantic Records starting with their album Comatose, they've been forcibly regulated on what they can say. Thankfully, this only applies to the recording process on the albums. When playing live, they're free to spread the name of Jesus as much as they want. And they do.
