Rest in peace to one of this generation's great rock vocalists, Chester Bennington. I've been a fan of Linkin Park since they released their first album in 2000, but I had never seen them perform live, and I had never made an analysis video for them on the channel. Needless to say, I was blown away by their performance. What else from Linkin Park should I react to and analyze?
I would love to hear your thoughts on Chester's live performance of "Given Up" at Clarkston 2007: ua-cam.com/video/aHPaee9Xz3g/v-deo.htmlsi=BfKWyofc7aVfl6m0 I know a lot of people are rightly impressed with Chester's ability to do a 17s scream live, but I personally find this performance much more impressive, despite the fact that he breaks up that particular scream. It's intensely emotional in it's expression, with sounds that I feel viscerally in my body. I'd love to hear a professional singers take on some of the technical aspects that make that possible, because it's simply incredible to me.
I was soooooo amazed by his vocal in this video, especially the last part. please react and explain how Chester did that. Thank you! ua-cam.com/video/qpJ1qforqfc/v-deo.htmlsi=ia5NSxVZLo4dl5Hw

You are in for a ride. They are incredible live. Definitely check out ANY of their Live In Texas concert, but specifically I recommend “A Place For My Head”
Finally Peter! ❤ You should absolutely react to QWERTY (live version not studio version), that performance is incredible (and sadly not very known outside the "hardcore" Linkin Park fans scene)
I literally start to cry when I hear his voice. I miss him so much. This song came out the same year my brother died. Used to listen to LP with him daily. This song holds a special place in my heart ❤
Chester was Godfather to Chris Cornell’s kids, and vice versa. They were the best of friends. Chris left us and, I believe, Chester followed about a year later.
Omg... One of my favorite LP songs. Still hard to believe he's gone. Still hurts like hell. There will never be anything like Chester again. Can you react to "Given Up"... Great video. RIP CB
My favourite is "Given up", even more amazing when he does this 17sec. scream live 😮 Saw them once in Germany at "Rock am Ring" and had an absolute blast ❤
You should check out the Live fromTexas video. The whole band was great but Chester's vocals where out of this world! An hour and twenty minutes and he was just as good at the end as in the beginning. I always see this in comments "Chester sings like an angel and screams like a demon" So true. Wish I'd got see them back then.

Thank you very much for that. You may wish to comment on the Japanese rock band One OK Rock, their lead singer’s favourite and biggest inspiration was Chester. The lead’s Taka’s vocals are great, and the band is fantastic. Taka’s singing live is also amazing, l prefer their concert versions for most of their songs. You may try their last song Dellusion:All (MV) or some concert versions of other songs. „Take what you want” from Tokyo Dome concert is incredible, also because how the Japanese audience behaves, although there may be other songs like We are or Renegades where there is more variation on how he uses his voice. The Adele’s covers mentioned in another comment is also a good suggestion.
After being a fire-breathing LP fan since the first time I saw the One Step Closer music video as a brand new song on MTV, I was lucky enough to see them live on Projekt Revolution in 2007. It was August in Dallas, Texas, and somehow they played almost three hours despite the absolutely crushing heat. Through the entire show Chester was just as eerily perfect as he is here. I've seen a *lot* of live music, and no other show has ever topped that for sheer intensity and emotional impact. There will never be another person quite like him.
They(Linkin Park)has an A Cappella and instrumental version of Living Things album and because of THAT album it’s HOW I first discovered A Cappella music(Voiceplay 💜)and found your channel
You should check out Iridescent from this show if you wanna see some insanely good harmonies. Chester and Mikes harmonies are something to behold, it sounds like one angelic voice almost...
You should for sure react to New Divide from Linkin Park it was in the Transformers movie Revenge of The Fallen & I think the other Transformer movies I could be wrong have Linkin Park for most of their music is in the movies fun fact. Literally one of my favorite movies of all time is that series because of the sound track that Linkin Park did for the movies. Overall this band produced some really good music love it always hits home for me.
Whenever I think back to the day that Chester Bennington passed away, I think of the acoustic cover of "Breaking The Habit" that Jonathan Young put out either that same day or the day after. The only word I can use to describe it is that it's a eulogy.
RIP Chester. When I heard Friendly Fire, that shit tore at me a bit. The other band members said that they have thousands of pre-recorded songs of Chester's that they never released but which they'll release gradually and like... I'm happy about that because we can all still keep him with us, but it also makes his choice hurt all the more. As someone who works in mental health, I wish there'd been something that could've been done, but alas. Perhaps we can do something for people still with us.
Chester is a legend.. Please react to their songs Crawling, Lost and Somewhere I Belong.. & by the way, thank you for reacting to Kpop group EXO, they are amazing..
It's really cool how technical your analysis is while still being accessible for casual music fans like me. Absolutely fantastic! P.S. Linkin Park forever!
Another great analysis of a legend. Highly recommend checking out Without Me by Dayseeker, Rory's voice is incredible and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.
It's true that actual fry screams are usually not that loud, since you are pushing compressed air through closed (well, almost) vocal folds, but i think that Chester rarely screams in pure fry, this is more of a "vocal break" scream (finding that second passaggio break and constantly altering between chest and head voice until you start creating distortion overtones) which is actually quite loud, and requires much more force, almost as much as a false chord scream.
@@inceptionsd - that makes sense to me. It’s like screamo without any external device to modify your voice. A great example of this is the lead singer of Jinger.
I love most of their Discography. I'm not sure if there is also high quality live videos of all the songs, so it makes choices a bit harder. I really love Faint, Somewhere i belong and Breaking the Habit from the earlier Albums. Given up and Bleed it out are real Bangers. I actually really really enjoyed the last Album One more light (especially talking to myself and good goodbye) and i was really sad seeing how a lot of people reacted, even more sad when the news broke about chesters Death. One very important Aspect for me was always how well Mike and Chester blended their Voices, their strengths and had this great harmony/chemistry.
This is not a fancam but an official video release by the record company. So they have already applied post-production work on everything. I have watched LP live live and I prefer the raw version so much better than these polished up version.
Wow, thank you Peter for this great analysis! I always liked linkin park and loved Chester's voice and now I know why! I would love to see an analysis of Shawn James, because I love his voice too, but don't know why 😂
I’m absolutely LOVING that song - SAME feels with the lyrics(especially “gave up who I am for who you wanted me to be”)as I got when I FIRST heard them
you need to check out Taka from One ok Rock, he is often compared to Chester in his voice quality and Chester was his idol growing up. You could check out his cover of Adele's Hello as a starter.
I have been LP fan since Hybrid Theory and love Chester's vocals. About this performance I have to say one thing. This is called official What I'done done in Red Squire on their Linkin Park channel. It's more than possible than producers or who ever big bosses you know have used a pitch correction sofware before uploading this performance. It can correct and tune every instrument if needed. I have listened to so much LP live performances and there are some gigs were they're out of tune or Chesters or Mikes vocals cracks. Musicians are a normal people who can be a sick or having a bad day and your voice is not perfect. It's makes us human. It's so industry standard that softwares as a pitch correction are used to so much. Chester was and is my favorite vocalist but I just wanted to point this kind of caviate. You're a producer so you if anyone knows what have been happening in music industry for the last two decades or more. I like Emily Armstrongs vocals and glad for LP that they are now mentally strong enough to make the music they love again. I believe Chester is watching over them and jamming❤ Thank you and greetings from Finland
Have you done Journey yet? If not, check out their 1981 live show in Houston. Pick any song, but I suggest Mother Father or Don’t Stop Believing. The vocals in this concert were perfection!
Yes, it was. It was the main theme song for the 2007 movie, Transformers. It appears in the final scene and closing credits and was also included on Transformers: The Album. Linkin Park also released on their third studio album, Minutes to Midnight. It was the 6th track.
Least important thing, but I'm pretty confident that it was "Revenge of the Fallen", not "Dark of the Moon". As evidence, I submit that I saw the former _but not the latter_ and remember hearing this at the end of *a* movie and going "wtf does this have to do with the movie? dammit, bay..." I've been wrong before though, and it'll probably happen again :)
23:03 so what about @soundspectrumstudios pet peeve-cupping the mic....is that right mic technique? Considering how quiet healthy fry screams are, cupping the mic part of proper mic technique if you don't want a feedback loop, right?
Pls also check out One OK Rock, they're a Japanese rock band, and Linkin Park is one of their influences. They have a lot of great songs and their live performances are better than the studio versions. PLEASE Peter can you react to Linkin Park’s NEW SONG Heavy Is The Crown? Emily’s scream is AMAZING in it and I REALLY want to hear your analysis of their new song
Vowel modifications are very hard for me cos my Aussie accent is.... strong lol. Even when I'm doing guttural growling trying to change my a's & y's I have to think about it. But then it's kinda fun to sing "moi" instead of "my" as an example. It's kinda hilarious
Papercut, or Forgotten! Don’t actually know if there's good enough live videos, but then just do an analyze of the studio version and not a reaction. If it's possible with copyright and all that jazz.
The new song and singer are not worth listening to. The song sounds like they took old unused instrumental tracks with old lyrics mix in a below average singer and you get the new Linkin Park song. It is very disappointing especially since they are not being respectful to the fans. If a fan even says one negative thing in the comments then the comment is deleted and the fan is blocked on all Linkin Park social media accounts that they have control over. The only accounts a fan can say their opinion and not get attacked or blocked are on Chester's and Rob's Instagram accounts. Chester fans are even getting attacked on the Facebook groups made for Chester fans which are slowly becoming more about the new singer and less about Chester.
You’re the definition of a hater. Please stfu. The new songs sound great and Emily sounds better after each live performance. 🙄 she’s a talented singer that’s not up for debate
@@tracypaszko5407 Rob has an Instagram account but doesn't use it at all. He is not a very social person. None of the fans knew he had left the band back in 2020 after the release of the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory. The fans kept asking about Rob during the 20th anniversary of Meteora but they just ignored the questions about Rob in less they were questions about Rob during the recording of Meteora.
lets not talk about the new members of so called Linkin Park...its a sham and a disaster, a very obvious cash milking of the brand rather than it being a true evolution of an art project after the death of a very crucial member of the band.
... Hello Monsieur le chanteur classique, why reacting on a song wich is sung by a 7 years dead person, ok a lot of fans are just waitingh for this, but there is a new singer just now, you may have choosen a song from one of the 2 concerts LP have just made in LA and in New york, Emily is just great, nothing to do with the "live stream concert" where Emily was nervous and cried often loosing her voice ... But in this 2 concerts you'll see an other Emily, a realy great one ... And this is the hot topic ... Ok it's up to you but if you want to react on song sung by one of the greatest dead singer, react to the great dead singer : Layne Staley from Alice in Chains live at the Moore (for ex) ... RIP Layne, poeple are forgeting you to fast, you'll be always in my heart !!! Sorry for my bad writing, I am old (very ? lol ) and french ^^ ... Salut Monsieur, bisous et à la prochaine ... Hey if I remember well, you've done a song from "Live at the Moore", ? Yes, no ?

Such a talent. One of my fav live performances of Chester is him singing Adele’s Rolling in the deep. Absolutely beautiful.
And be sure to watch the very beginning - it gives a nice lesson about starting a song in the proper key.❤

The only accounts a fan can say their opinion and not get attacked or blocked are on Chester's and Rob's Instagram accounts. Chester fans are even getting attacked on the Facebook groups made for Chester fans which are slowly becoming more about the new singer and less about Chester.
Doesn't Rob not have social media
You’re the definition of a hater. Please stfu. The new songs sound great and Emily sounds better after each live performance. 🙄 she’s a talented singer that’s not up for debate
@@tracypaszko5407 Rob has an Instagram account but doesn't use it at all. He is not a very social person. None of the fans knew he had left the band back in 2020 after the release of the 20th anniversary of Hybrid Theory. The fans kept asking about Rob during the 20th anniversary of Meteora but they just ignored the questions about Rob in less they were questions about Rob during the recording of Meteora.
lets not talk about the new members of so called Linkin Park...its a sham and a disaster, a very obvious cash milking of the brand rather than it being a true evolution of an art project after the death of a very crucial member of the band.
this was off their main Chanel and it could’ve been edited you never know
I like LP, but I like LP with Emily too, and forget the livestream, New york or Los Angeleeeees, easy to find, both 2 hours concerts !!! Great fort the music history ...
Sorry for my bad writing, I am old (very ? lol ) and french ^^ ...
Salut Monsieur, bisous et à la prochaine ...
Hey if I remember well, you've done a song from "Live at the Moore", ? Yes, no ?
Maybe because "7 years dead person" is head and shoulders ahead of her in terms of talent, his outstanding singing skills, emotion and showmanship.
A little too much review. Not every 2 seconds man. Repeating the same things essentially over nad over and over again.
I live for these razor detailed reviews, feels like too many reactors go surface level
Performance was held in Red Square, Moscow in Russia 🇷🇺
