Volvo Ocean X Bearing Race Failure

This was supposed to be an easy "re-seal" job on a Volvo Penta Ocean X (DPS-A) outdrive and it took a slight turn to being more labor intensive. During my cleaning and inspection I found a bearing failure which is very unusual.

Hi Ted. Awesome videos. You mentioned that you have shown the removal of the larger pinion bearing off the gear in this video. I tried to find it. Can you post a link? Looks like that bearing is a real pain if the cage breaks. Any extra tips to get it off?
