My favourite ways to live glamorously are; clean and tidy house, playing my Spotify piano lounge playlist and burning a candle that smells amazing. These two things alone make me feel like I’m living in such a refined space and a real sense elegance and serenity. Lastly wearing a hint of my favourite perfume tops it off.

I was a single mom. Once a month, I would make a really nice meal and serve it on my China on a candlelit table. My kids loved it, and it's a very special memory.

100% agree. I'm 54 and I'm coming back to doing things the "old" way. I ordered my first magazine subscription in years a few weeks ago. I know Pinterest is cheaper than a magazine subscription, but it has its costs! I am too easily numbed out by screens. I've taken social media off my phone and don't check it daily. I'm on the verge of just quitting altogether. I am all about seeking a more minimal, slow lifestyle and focusing on what matters. I've also spent a lot of time on my home (where I live and work now) to make it the best place to be.

Living seasonally - YES! 100% agree. To help me live in the moment aka my current season, I've gotten much more into seasonal decor than I have been in the past. It seems kind of silly, but it really helps me get excited about where I am now, gives me something to look forward to and breaks up the monotony of "everyday adulting."

We definitely are on the same vibe. One suggestion that everyone can do is to find a way to display something you love with style. I love perfume, especially niche houses. I have a perfume cabinet in my closet that was $100 bucks at IKEA. It has glass doors so you can see through it. I reorganize it periodically and it just elevates my collection.

We didn’t grow up in a warm, safe nest, and I really think that’s such a big part of why it’s so very important for me to create a home that just envelopes me in a feeling of warmth, order, and security.
It honestly doesn’t take a fortune, just time, effort and a little creativity, and let me tell you, when I’m floating around in my thrifted silk pajamas like Ava Gardner, listening to soothing music and lighting scented candles, the reward is absolutely healing💕

I feel like you’re speaking directly to ME when talking about house/home projects!!! That walking past the coat closet part!!! 🙌🏽 OMG!!! I’m currently working on this because I’ve come to the realization that my house needs to FEEL like home!! And when it’s not organized and/ or feels cluttered it just puts me in a rut!! And it took me quite some time to realize that neglecting my home projects directly attributes to me feeling like that!! Thank you for all your relatable videos Whitney!! And SUPER CONGRATS on your colab!!!🥳🥳🥳👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💋💄 I’m buying it first thing tomorrow morning (payday) 😁!! Love you!!😘😘😘

I deleted my Facebook and Instagram a year ago, and it was the BEST decision I ever made. It makes you live your life and see what’s going on around you. I truly believe if everyone deleted it, we would be living in a completely different world. People would rather lose a limb than delete social media. 😂

Something that really helps me prevent analysis paralysis when planning is to give myself rules. The boundaries make planning so much easier. Rules would be like: this week we’re having toast for breakfast. It could be avocado toast, peanut butter toast with bananas, toast with jam etc. For dinners we always do meaty mondays, tacos on Tuesday (or any Mexican food), chicken on wednesdays, leftovers on Saturdays, etc. this really helps make it easier when you’re in the planning phase. I normally type up the weekly menu and put it on the fridge so I don’t have to answer “what do we got to eat?” twenty times a day lol
Also subscribe and save on Amazon is so amazing for keeping the store cupboard stocked. Anything you find yourself buying over and over again can just get put on subscription so you don’t have to think about it anymore. So easy!
As far as old movies goes, I recommend To Catch a Thief with Carry Grant!

Now, Voyager with Bette Davis; Bell, Book, and Candle with Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart; Hello, Dolly with Barbra Streisand and Walter Matthau. There are more, but those are the 3 that are movies I want to watch over and over again. Back when I had cable, my ideal evening was tucked into a blanket, eating popcorn and soup, and watching Turner Classic Movies. Honestly, it might be the only thing I miss about cable.

I totally agree about eating out! I am a fairly accomplished cook, and my kids even tell me that my food is better than eating at a restaurant. We eat out about once a week, and hubby and I make a meal plan every Saturday, that we then use to make the grocery list. I also have a huge veggie garden, so using that produce without a ton of waste requires a lot of careful planning, along with making pickles and preserves. Before we started meal planning, there was a ton of nights where we would end up eating fast food because we were all tired and hungry and had no plan, and a lot of my produce (grocery store and homegrown) went bad. Now we only buy what we are going to eat, and hardly have any food waste at all.

  • @elizabethbc8293

Your family meal goal is the exact same as mine! Nothing causes me more angst than dinner... NOTHING! And I suffer from paralysis NY analysis.... like, why does it feel so challenging to plan ahead and get dinner on the table every night? Damn, how about just 3-4 nights a week to start??? No idea, but I've completely botched that part of life and am determined to put a system in place. Thank you for the motivation! Once upon a time I cooked. Not sure when I let that go off the rails.

What we tell ourselves is so important. I used to be shy and I started telling myself that I am a queen and when you do that your subconscious follows through. So instead of saying "I'm awkward" tell yourself something positive like "i know I can talk to ppl I've got a positive vibe" and look for the positives from your interactions with ppl. Maybe you made someone smile etc. Keep building on that and you'll grow to be more outgoing.

I am SO with you in regards to spending money on mediocre food. I dread EVER getting fast food for my kids with the expectation of the occasional inn and out and chicafilet endulge😏
My husband is a fantastic cook, and that a gift by to be a good cook but a curse to restaurants 😂 Honesty we have 4 places we will eat that are actually worth it! Since they are really fine restaurants they are never at a whim moments. 😂They are definitely thought out and planned. Now we just need to work on eating together for meals🙈 it’s tough since I get off work so late most days BUT we could at least do the weekends if nothing else! I love this video! 100% that home can be your sanctuary and your oasis!! Organization and intentional esthetics truly make the difference mentally.
Ps. So excited to support my girls new endeavors!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I’m always using your code on skintruth and that has been a gift! Can’t wait to try these lipsticks! Blessings darling😘

Whitney, can you remember what the book was called, about planning your schedule according to your menstral cycle?

I feel you on the dining out! I am never satisfied! Now, I do love going out someone's wroth everyone, but once a week is just too much. Usually the kids are screaming to eat some nasty fast food. Ughhh. I just ordered your lipsticks! I love you videos. I have finally started to use my planner again and fix up my home. It already feels amazing. I forgot how important it is to make our home a warm, safe space for my family. I got so resentful for a long time that I stopped doing what I know is right. I want my kids to feel loved and safe in their home as well. Thank you for this extra reminder. I did not enjoy my childhood home, and this is the first place I've ever owned myself. I really didn't know how important it was until I started making changes.

Whitney on camera your red lipstick looks like a warm red, which I love. Is this truly a warm red? I want to purchase if so.
I love everything about the message❤

So agree with you on the home thing. We've been so busy lately and our home organisation has taken a backseat. I've taken a day off next week to get things back in order because I know it'll make me feel so much better. I love everything being just so, I don't want to walk into a room and the overwhelming impression to be 'ugh'.

One thing i really want to change is to stop eating in my bed. I am single and want some entertainment and most of the time i lack enery. In the end i lay down in bed in Front of the TV and eat my most of the time not self cooked food. And let me tell you: nothing glamourous about it

I put in my notes app that I should buy a cooking magazine this week and get some good recipes out of it! Ive been putting together super easy options that I can pop in the oven or microwave and I want to ~glamorize~ at least that aspect of my life!
