just remember that these are professional players, the best of the best (Serral is this year´s world champion), so dont get frustrated if you cant do the same things they do, and you wont be facing nearly as good players either, so you dont "have to" also, go and watch basic guides (Lowko has very good ones), most new players mistake is trying to do fancy stuff when they dont even know how to do the basics Welcome to SC2 :) good luck, have fun!
as HUEZOX said; this is professional level However it's not impossible; as a beginner you may find yourself wondering (if you looked at the apm at the bottom during the replay) how does one person get 500+ apm that's insane, in reality most diamond+ players hover around 300 apm "resting" and spike to 500 simply because when you're macroing you're not really pressing all too many buttons just your base hotkey and your drone hotkey that's where a lot of your early game apm goes, then it spikes harder when you're engaging/defending in a fight; so apm isn't entirely everything it's more how effective each action is; say you spam your q key 1000times by the time 1 larvae spawns, well sure you got those 1000 taps but you still only made 1 drone, so not effective
I did the same mistake. I tried to baneling drop to opponent's worker line like a pro, did successfully but lost the game cuz I didn't have any follow up lol. I guess it is not always a good idea to learn from pros if you are a new player.
At 12:05, Serral uses the queens to push the siege tanks from the left side. I don't think Lowko caught onto the thought that Serral used the queens to bait out the tank shots so his zerglings could rush in and surround the marines without worrying about the initial tank blasts. Still pretty good break down of the entire round though.
Really great break down of a great build! The only thing I would add that I don't believe was mentioned was to make sure you bring an Overseer so you can view high ground and bile down pesky tanks that would otherwise shoot you for free until your units can run up the ramp.
Fantastic episode ! The homestory cup final was an excellent ultra-tier level showing ! The timing and quality of the in-depth strategy you displayed is amazing !
hey lowko, thank you for all your SC2 videos. I used to watch your videos back in HoTS and I've been getting back into the game and learning LOTV. Glad to see you're still making great content especially for zerg players
Loading screen tip: "Gather as many resources as you can and spend them all. The larger army almost always wins." Lowko, have you been writing the in-game tips?
I thought it was really impressive how serral targets his biles. Lots of Zerg get greedy and gamble it on hitting units but serral goes for the guaranteed hits. Double hitting the bunkers, triple hitting the depot wall and making full use of that tiny splash effect.
12:04 The task of those queens wasnt to cause damage, but to tank the siegetanks, which they did. A brilliant move that caused Inno to lose that engagement badly. Otherwise he might have traded better.
As always, Lowko. Amazing video! Can you make build order videos of other professional players? Would love if you can explain the build order strategy of known professional players for every race too!
Yes plzzz!! A vid like this for terran would be awesome :) I know it''s not your main race.. so you're prob not good enough too pull it off, but like too see you try ;) (feeling challenged?) Anyways, great vid, great work, keep it up Lowko PS i enjoyed your HSC casting
This is why Zerg is OP. After Serral gets 3 bases, it's nearly impossible for Terran to be able to scout Serral and know what he's doing because larva can produce either workers or units. Once Serral had the overlord scout Innovation's main base, he was operating under perfect information the rest of the game. At MINIMUM there needs to be a different animation for unit larva producing and worker larva producing, which would help Protoss and Terran players try to figure out how committed Zerg players are to army or to eco.
Hi there Lowko! Is it possible to put a build order description? It would be super helpful :D Also at minute 26:00 you mention that you should transition for late game after roach ravager. Could you give good general examples? Too many questions probably, but thanks for the content!
Not sure why Lowko wants us to ask him questions in comments but then doesn't respond to any... I recommend to transition based on what the opponent is doing. The terran is likely to respond to mass roach with tons of medivac drops, and I've seen Serral use roach/hydra/ viper (to pull the medivacs), and eventually into broodlords. I personally recommend to also mix in some banelings if they stick to a lot of marines (even if they are not upgraded). LZ gamer, a former pro zerg from team EG told me "if the terran goes bio, ALWAY mix banelings into your army no matter what army u go for", this has worked very well for me.
Can you please make a video like this but as a Terran ? Ur way of explaining stuff for starcraft is amazing and i would love to see a terran and even a protoss for that :D
Hi , just want to say that your videos are amazing they are been help me out in my transition to a better player. Keep making videos like those.please don’t stop make it . I wish to ask you for a favor . Can I have some of your replays ?
Hey i use that strat. Also i just realised how good my micro is. I thought that i wasnt good at micro. Hard protoss ai. Playing as zerg. No upgrades yet (exept meta boost). Beat a protoss army bigger than mine. rewatched and they had lvl 2 for all ground upgrades.
I'm within the first 1k viewers, never have I been so early. Love your channel lowko! I'd really love to see you play vs a somehow handycapped serral some day, you think this could be arranged?
One thing I keep seeing with Zerg palyers and that makes me scratch my head is using Drones holding minerals to build/morph. I mean - aren't that 5 minerals that are just going to waste? Seems minor at first, but can stack up quite fast I'd imagine so I wonder if there's an actual reason for doing so or if it's just something that happens in the 'heat of the game' so to speak.
in all reality it isn't that important, yes it's 5 minerals, however the 1 drone you see that's carrying a mineral, usually the base he's walking from is saturated so that 5 minerals isn't really a waste, and it's a bit too much of an effort to grab a drone not holding minerals, it's just quicker to take a drone and have it morph into a hatchery/building because the nearest drone that isn't holding something could be further away from where you want to place your buildings :P Edit:: most of the time in a real-time game you also don't generally pay attention to what drone is holding a mineral, just that you have mineral income
time is money just think of all the time wasted and the possible bad things that could happen for 5 minerals like a misdrag or click then looking back to your army to see you just lost 300 bucks worth of units.
make your mouse be interpreted differently so when you hold the button instead of hold the pc would interpret it as rapid clicks. it;s much more comfortable to put the switch onto a hotkey so you could activate it or deactivate it depending on the situation
@michalwamp rapid fire es a VERY fucking usefull tool if used correctly, as oldrox told you, look for Lowkos "rapid fire guide" video, its a very short video, he explains how to do it and gives a few examples, easy to understand
Basic Question. Mark 19:30. Why do you keep 18 workers in your mineral line (especially in early, when u need the most efficient mining) instead of sending 2 of them into the natural as soon as natural hatches so they could mine more efficiently ?
Workers in oversaturation mines at like 60% of a worker at full efficiency ( from the 17th to the 24th drone ), so making the 15 seconds trip to the natural pretty "bad" for immediate income. The reason is that it's good long term to transfert the drones, but it's not so good for immediate money, wich is very important in early game ( each drone providing a big portion of the global income ). More importantly it takes too much attention when you could use it for more beneficial things than this small small detail :)
So much great info! It might be too much to reply in a comment but what other signs are there to get from the overlord scout? I gathered factory+reactor leads to "normal" bio, if there was a starport+tech then cloak banshees. Any other more obvious signs?
Hey Mr. Lowko! I'm a frequent watcher who really enjoys your content, and I generally think your work is brilliant, but I'd like to comment that I don't particularly enjoy the addition of a facecam to the videos. Especially in matches between starcraft pros, it kind of distracts from the action. It's not the biggest issue in the world, however, so if you feel like the facecam improves your content or has a positive impact on your viewcount then by all means keep it in. Cheers!
Follow up question! Does anyone know how Lowko...: 1. Make his camera move without using the minimap? At 17:15 only a few seconds into the match he played alone Lowko moved the camera without using the borders of the screen. The cursor disappeared and the camera changed its position. 2. How did he do the "rapid fire" with the ravagers in the end? Did he just hold down z and select in various locations quickly?
Hey there Draco, the answers are as follows: 1. Camera locations. If I'm not mistaken, standard hotkeys to create a camera location are control f1, f2, f3 etc. This will create a camera location that you can access by pressing the respective key (f1, f2, f3, without control). You can have like up to 9 camera hotkeys, and they're pretty useful in game! 2. You can rapid fire a lot of abilities (like creep tumors or corrosive bile) by going to the hotkey panel and, in the AI section, add an alternate key to the "Select AI target" section. For example, if you want to rapid fire corrosive bile (hotkey C in my case) you need to add that C as an alternate hotkey to the select AI target hotkey. Hope it helps!
Thanks for the reply, but the camera movement that lowko used wasn't a camera hotkey. That's why I thought it was so weird. I know he uses camera hotkeys for each hatchery and that's how he can move the camera typically. This time he didn't "teleport" to a specific predefined location like what happens with the hotkeys, he moved the camera in a similar manner to when you use the bounds of the screen to move the camera left, right, down, or up, but the cursor disappeared from view and it seemed almost like he was moving the camera just from moving the mouse.
Whats about when you build the evos in the natural and the roach roun in the main, so when the terran scans once, he thinks it is safty roaches or just double evo?
Is there a faster way to do injects? When I see Serral or some of the other pro-zerg players they tend to do injects across all their hatcheries almost instantly. But Lowko and I use the same go to a hatch... select the queen... inject... go to the next hatch method which seems and feels a lot slower. How do they do the super fast injects as I feel like I waste a lot of time injecting when I play zerg?
I've just started to play again and adapted to the same thing, you do this with rapid fire, if you search this you'll see videos how to set this up for multiple keys. put simply if you have a keyboard that can recognise 2 key presses at the same time then you can hold your inject key and your next base key to cycle through all of the bases, this does require to have a control group for all queens at each hatchery.
what if the terran goes for full bio like 2-1-1 (cause roach are bad against bio ) ? what if he goes for banshee ? can this is be used against toss also?
I am not sure either but think is like the LoL autocast, so when you have a unit with an ability that you have to select and then left click to execute it, you just push the key and the ability executes where you have the cursor. I guess
Rapid fire means that you can spam an ability without clicking multiple times. For ravagers: You press Y and hold it. Then you move your mouse and your ravagers use the ability multiple times. You just need to press Y and hold and left click once and hold. He means that you should turn this on. Go to Options -> Hotkeys -> Global -> Unit Management -> Choose Ability or AI Target -> Add Alternative and choose Y (as an example) Here is the video where lowko explains that: ua-cam.com/video/N2dNK-mIWkQ/v-deo.html
Does this strategy not work against protoss because I played two games where I got my attack off before 8 mins and got completely shut down by aerial troops.
Hey, I've got a question on that "rapid fire" you mentioned. What is it's purpose and where exactly can I find this option? I was looking for a way to make all my infestors spawn an infested terran each, but couldn't find it :/ As for now, they spawn 1 Inf.Ter. Per click, and the second infestor start spawning only after the first one ran out of energy. Any tips?
As an explanation this allows you to use abilities much faster than you would be able to otherwise do. For example i have my hotkeys configured so i can hold z as an alternate click and because i am on grid setup for hotkeys anything in that spot Example: bile. Infested terran. Yamato Basically you find this by going to hotkey settings and add a key as an alternate to your left click. If you play standard settings for hotkeys then this will be substantially less useful. If you play grid everything in that spot can be spammed by holding z. Its basically just for when you need to do ability spam that is harder to manage with mouse. I hope my explanation helped:)
As for the second one i am not sure this setting exists. If it was i dont think i would recomend it anyways because this would make it possible if you did this alot to get you the same amount of infested terrans without the energy to do any of an infestors more expensive abilites. And this goes for any spellcaster. The system is made how it is so that you will havr the maximum amount of high energy abilities available to you. I hoped my thoughts were useful.
26:08 What is that "rapid fire" you are refering to? Is it something that I have to change in my hotkeys? I would want to know because I am new and want to learn more about the mechanics of SC2 multiplayer!
holding the mouse button would be interpreted as rapid clicks instead of one long hold. some mouses have the function themselves or you can achieve that with your pc, just going to take more effort to set it up so it's hotkey activated
I would recommend searching "rapid fire" on youtube, many starcraft youtubers (Nathanias comes to mind) have made videos on what Rapid fire is and how to set it up. TL:DR yes, its a hotkey change!
ok but he lose some unite in fight and he has more zergling what has smaler suplay space... and only 30s is the diference. btw he not first time make this strategy so its ok. ty for the video. and keep up the good work ;)
13:40 why would he send the drones to the third? I always send the drones to the new bases, which is a bit risky cuz theyre more vulnerable to attack, but that way I can also stay mining out of my main and natural longer. To think its some trick to make him think its more macro I think is WRONG and poor analysis on Lowkos part.
Why is roach ravager preferrable to roach hydra? Yes you can take out buildings faster, but otherwise hydras have higher dps right? Sorry for the stupid question.
@@ditch_magnet The roaches tank the first volley and then you move onto them? Are you saying roach ravager is better vs T, but maybe not as good in other matchups?
hydralisks need their upgrades to be good, wich would take way too much time for such a 1/1 timing ( however 2/2 roach hydra timings exist ). Ravagers are also way better for taking out siege tanks/buildings with biles. Hydra are good yes, but fragile, too long to be effective and don't have the bile utility for an "early" push like this one.
@@noedamidaux8389 ah, thanks. So I presume it's always a good idea to have some ravagers in the mix against T, presuming you're not going ling bane muta, because bile is just so good against tanks. Ah, almost forgot bile is good against libs too.
What if SC2 AI follows Serral's build for training? Wouldn't that be awesome and nightmarish? Let's call Serral's build Standard AI, then there's Cheese AI, Flyer AI, etc. Wouldn't it be awesome to fight/train against specific build orders?
To someone who is super new to playing this game, these are the types of videos i am looking for.

I tried this for the first time in diamond league. It worked well! I've been losing so much games vs. terran. It's a good build.

How do you set up rapid fire corrosive bile?
Lowkos ravages are huge
are pros allowed to play as random or switch races between games?
what if the terran goes for full bio like 2-1-1 (cause roach are bad against bio ) ? what if he goes for banshee ?
can this is be used against toss also?
what do you mean at the end when you say: make sure you set out your rapid fire???
I am not sure either but think is like the LoL autocast, so when you have a unit with an ability that you have to select and then left click to execute it, you just push the key and the ability executes where you have the cursor. I guess

Rapid fire means that you can spam an ability without clicking multiple times.
For ravagers: You press Y and hold it. Then you move your mouse and your ravagers use the ability multiple times. You just need to press Y and hold and left click once and hold.
He means that you should turn this on.
Go to Options -> Hotkeys -> Global -> Unit Management -> Choose Ability or AI Target -> Add Alternative and choose Y (as an example)
Here is the video where lowko explains that:

Does this strategy not work against protoss because I played two games where I got my attack off before 8 mins and got completely shut down by aerial troops.
Not to be at prof But dont you need wall with 2 Evo and 1 Roch?
Hey, I've got a question on that "rapid fire" you mentioned.
What is it's purpose and where exactly can I find this option?
I was looking for a way to make all my infestors spawn an infested terran each, but couldn't find it :/
As for now, they spawn 1 Inf.Ter. Per click, and the second infestor start spawning only after the first one ran out of energy. Any tips?
As an explanation this allows you to use abilities much faster than you would be able to otherwise do. For example i have my hotkeys configured so i can hold z as an alternate click and because i am on grid setup for hotkeys anything in that spot
Example: bile. Infested terran. Yamato
Basically you find this by going to hotkey settings and add a key as an alternate to your left click.
Lowko plays SerralCraft :)
I will try this to break mech players before they hit the critical deathball mass
This may sound stupid but how do i set rapid fire hotkey?
how do you quickly go to hatchery to hatchery ?
@@Galriculus Actually, Lowko also had a video about it lol Tyvm!
Good god serral was over 1000 apm when the end of the game. I know rapid fire probably help him get there but damn.
Innovation .. Bro what happened to the mind games you play. Also lowko I would like to see you use this strat in a game against players
Love his content
Despise his intro’s
Thank fuck for the skip 15 Sec tap
Hey lowko there's a new DLC for frost punk...any interest?
Is it possible to play around muta main?
ok but he lose some unite in fight and he has more zergling what has smaler suplay space... and only 30s is the diference. btw he not first time make this strategy so its ok.
ty for the video. and keep up the good work ;)
13:40 why would he send the drones to the third? I always send the drones to the new bases, which is a bit risky cuz theyre more vulnerable to attack, but that way I can also stay mining out of my main and natural longer.
To think its some trick to make him think its more macro I think is WRONG and poor analysis on Lowkos part.
Why is roach ravager preferrable to roach hydra? Yes you can take out buildings faster, but otherwise hydras have higher dps right? Sorry for the stupid question.
what is roach hydra going to do against a siege tank line
also, roach/ravager is more streamlined
