I'm also really pleased you pointed out how literally ONLY Vanitas and Sora rode a wave of keyblades. No one else has demonstrated that skill. I like to imagine Vanitas was watching Sora from some dark corner and when he saw him riding the keyblades, he just nodded in approval.
As a Vanitas fan, this pleases me greatly
This was very well done, not only did you share your point across of why Vanitas is inside of Sora, the clips you provided along with the explanations were great, can't wait to see more Kingdom Hearts content in the future from you loca.
Vanitas's keyblade having two eyes has got to be explained in the future.. the way the camera focuses on it when he points the keyblade at Sora, it makes it seem like someone is watching and he's showing them that things are going according to plan. I think this theory is great btw.

Even before seeing this video, I also believed that there are decent odds of Vanitas reappearing in the future and that if he is hiding out in someone's heart, it's most likely Sora's. This could have happened either immediately after his final clash with Ventus in Birth By Sleep or he came across Sora at a later point in time (with the former being most likely). Not to mention, with how Sora had been unaware that he had offered sanctuary Ventus' heart, there's a pretty decent chance that Vanitas could've snuck in too... or Sora could've also subconsciously made Vanitas the same offer(but again, I think the former is more likely with Vanitus' nature), but either way Sora wouldn't have any way of knowing unless he knew how to look - or if Vanitas decides to reach out.
There's also the fact that part of what makes Sora special is how his heart easily connects with and even sheltered others. And now that Ventus, Roxas and Xion are out, it would be a shame if this aspect gets swept aside, and it would be cool if he gets another heart guest.
On a more speculative note, from what little we've seen, KH4 feels like it could become the start of another saga with a new "big bad" or so in the works. Plus, it also feels like the games are gearing up to start expanding on the nature of the "light vs dark" conflict that is a driving force in the plot, since Kingdom Hearts tends to be deeper and more complicated than it appears. And what better way of Sora delving into this aspect than for him to be accompanied by a Darkness that he has had history with? And depending on how long Vanitas may have been hanging out in Sora's heart, he may or may not have an understanding of Sora... emphasis on "may or may not". After all, it's showcased in KHUX that a big part of the conflict between beings of Light and Darkness is the lack of capability to understand the other side. But either way, it all adds up to a lot of potential character interaction/inlfuence between Sora and Vanitas...
Very good points all around! Enjoyed this a lot! And considering Vanitas is indeed one of the 13 pieces of Darkness, it goes to show that his role is not yet at an end. For where there is Light, there must always be Darkness; two sides of the same coin. It was only inevitable that Sora would once more be the Key to everything…
This theory was great! I'd love to see Sora, Vanitas, and Strelitzia as a new trio for the series tbh. The dynamic they'd have could be really fun to watch!

Sora's Kingdom Key keyblade also looks just like a single half of Vanitas' X-Blade, too.
okay so I can reconcile Vanitas taking the form of the bonus boss with him being the darkness in Ven's heart during re:mind, and still hitching a ride with Sora at the same time. Hear me out.
Edit: Forgot to lead/include the crux of my argument so I'm editing it in here. In that stations of awakening are locations that do not actually exist physically, which can totally explain why Vanitas would be able to jump out of Sora inside Ven's station of awakening. Technically visitors to the stations of awakening are just hearts while there, after all. Darkness can still be Vanitas in that aspect, too.
Vanitas still exists. But much like Ven, there were consequences for what happened at the end of birth by sleep. He's very much still Vanitas, but his defeat changed something about him. Maybe he's back to being an amorphous ball of darkness as his default form now due to Ven's heart falling apart and needing to be reassembled. There's a strong chance he's in Sora's heart now, too, instead of Ven's, because he chose to hitch a ride with Sora. I have zero doubt that he's Sora's closest ally now, even closer than Riku, and will ALWAYS act in Sora's self preservation, which is why he manifested as a boss in Re:Mind - He was trying to stop Sora from killing himself, and failing that, to act as a trial. He's still Darkness, but he has a heart now, and he's sharing it with Sora for the time being, much like Yubel in Yugioh GX post season 3. He's very much a gentle darkness now, versus the consuming, hungry, but still kind of affilable darkness that he was by default in the time of fairytales. I really hope whatever Nomura is cooking for 4 involves Darkness/Vanitas being an ally to Sora now, though.
And to dovetail this idle musing with a theory of my own, the piece of darkness that has been labeled Vanitas? I personally think it specifically, due to Sora's status as a connector in the future, exists as a singularity across time, which is why it was so polite during Union X: Darkness as a whole is basically confirmed to be an eldritch creature anyway, and much like the MoM and his book, this one specifically knows where and how it is going to end up, but during the days of old, it was more akin to a nobody as it did not yet have a heart, so it could not yet feel, all it knew was that it was hungry, and that it was going to continue to exist, and that it would eventually begin to feel. It had a facsimile of a personality, but was not yet fully fleshed out, to put it into a statement that is easier to express.

@@dewybeat2409 thanks I was absolutely wired with my low tolerance to caffeinated beverages being to blame when I wrote it and your video provoked a number of thoughts that I couldn't help but build on.
I've also got a thought about the ansem SoD we see in CoM actually just being Riku's personal darkness taking his form to try and get one over on him. It's not what's left of ansem, it's that riku's heart is a steel trap for darkness and boy does he have a lot of it, and we all know by now that in KH as a whole, aggregate darkness in sufficient amounts grows sentience.
Sora is the piece 🎉 that filled Ventus heart… Vanitas is one of the 13 ancient that was trapped in Ventus’s heart…

After vanitas was defeated in bbs he returned to his "darkness" form which sora confront in remind.
I can see why you would think that, but they havent established if returning to the form of darkness is possible after gaining a form. Furthermore, Darkness did not respond to being called Vanitas.
Forgot this detail, the Vanitas they defeated came from the past. So, when he got defeated he returned to the past where he was picked from. So, he couldnt have reverted to being just Darkness if that were possible after being defeated in a form which MOM already extablished that would be the end of Darkness because they would perish.
@@dewybeat2409 i said "after he was defeated in bbs". I know vanitas from kh3 is from the past. I think vanitas didn't have a physical body after he joined with ventus. After he was defeated in ventus's heart, he returned the part that took from ventus, lost his identity and became "darkness".

There is another thing worth mentioning, and that is Darkness' 3D model has technically been seen in KH3.
When Riku and Mickey come across Aqua in the RoD, her first form is one entirely of shadows looking exactly like a Darkness before picking up the Keyblade and revealing her Anti-Aqua form.
Should Vanitas have lost form and returned to his true Darkness self, he would have looked just like that (since the model exists in the game, it wouldn't have been a hard ask for them to reuse it in ReMind). Since we never see a Darkness take on the form of a Heartless, Dark Inferno isn't likely to be Vanitas.
@@dewybeat2409he told you he was darkness after the battle in kh3 …so that right there is the context to let you know they are one in the same…further more he didn’t have a form until he was extracted after Ventus sealed him in his body UX and the piece that was to fill his heart was Sora …the answers are already there …Ansem seeker of Darkness…is the biggest clue to what is going on…there’s a real reason why he looks like Xehanort and not Terra or Terranort he’s literally darkness given form through the missing piece…
So when Sora Asked him that …he never had a form at that point before extraction
