    No oven, no deal for us. Why do these people not cater for our needs. If they want to sell in the UK most of us require an oven.
    Also when you are showering there is no access to the fridge or the bedroom for everyone else.
    I much prefer the Adria 640 SGX or possibly the Adria 640 SLB. The Dreamer D68 is also well worth a look. But thanks Peter for an excellent video, yet again.

      Yes, the lack of an oven will be a deal breaker for some but I guess it's the shape of the kitchen (and lack of demand in Germany) that dictates this. If you want an oven then makers like Adria and Pilote can offer one in this type of layout, but there seem to be enough customers who will happily go without an oven and have extra kitchen storage instead

    I’m in United States, I don’t know how to plan a fall and also maybe concerned about getting parts if it is German made. But with that being said I’m very impressed. I do not care a camper needs a bathroom and a sentence.
    As always thank you for sharing.

    Nice review. I came to this genre of camping from clamping quite recently (Covid driven) and the decision for a PVC was easy based on the kind of exploration we wanted to do. Picking a layout ... not so easy. I'm not enthusiastic about the limited 'garage' space in this unit. Seems to be a pretty fixed formula - you have stuff in it or you don't use it.
    We searched for various options and I think we were fortunate .. an initial order fell thru (not going to detail that) but we ended up with a Dreamer (Rapido) D60 which really suits our needs for us and a young labrador and a bunch of stuff. The 'garage' area is really customisable... we have the extra beds (and it has the full aluminium protection and bike mounts) - but mostly we leave one of the lower beds at home and use the other as a sofa so the flexibility is great - we use the electric drop down bed and the dog sleeps underneath next to the sofa. There are so many clever ideas in these vans . We got it in December I think - just after a lockdown ended - and it sat doing nothing for months and then after a 2 day shake out by Weston Supermare we head off and did the Scottish NC 500 and a month later Devon and Cornwall and Lands End (for the pups matching John of Groats and Lands End photos)

    Great and comprehensive review, Peter and thanks. We were looking at Globecar, Malibu and Dreamer but in the end went for a Wildax Solaris XL on the Fiat with the 9 speed automatic. Great level of standard vehicle kit when compared to this Globecar, too.
    We love its unusual bunk bed layout - perfect for our 9 year old daughter, and actually find that as the 3 of us are in separate beds we can have the convenience of not disturbing each other if we need the loo in the night. Although I do like the idea of a full rear longways bedroom, the kitchens in these continental vans always seem a bit limited when compared to the full oven/grill, microwave, work space and huge fridge we get in the Solaris. Agree with your comment in the Europa review about Wildax’s hard lounge cushions though!!

      I agree that bunk bed layouts are great with kids but they are very rare in campervans (rather than coachbuilt motorhomes). Another maker of bunk bed campervans, for anyone searching one out, is Dreamer.

    another excellent and comprehensive review . I see these van conversions everywhere . fine for quick journey times and perhaps for getting to more off beat places . But i also see the terrible limitations of them when you finally reach a destination and want to live somewhere for a while . Pokey , cramped , profoundly compromised for long term living on the road and just absurdly expensive for what they offer

    • @peterv3642
      @peterv3642 3 роки тому +1

      Yes, they're everywhere because this part of the motorhome market is growing fast. If you want more living space there are layouts without a fixed bed (see our WildAx Europa video) and, if you think they're expensive, how about a brand-new Auto-Trail Expedition for £36,995! Something for everyone and they're a great compromise on size for living and size for driving

      It's not the latest spec but my review of the V-Line SE 636 - ua-cam.com/video/mDwrj7nH1lQ/v-deo.html - is worth a look. The Sport version is nice because it replaces the rear doors with a larger window, U-shaped seating and a useful boot area. If that appeals to you then take a look at the IH and Vantage models, too, both of which come with a rear boot option. Even better is IH's version on the VW Crafter, which feels much more modern to drive than the Fiat

    At £63k I think the Adria and Malibu 640 models look far better. In spite of its update the Globecar looks a lot of money for a fairly bland interior and lack of character. Interested to see you compare these two models side by side. Thanks Peter

    • @peterv3642
      @peterv3642 3 роки тому +1

      The Adria is certainly bolder in its interior design but some will prefer the Globecar's more conservative approach. Where the Globecar impresses is its solid build quality and the extending washroom

    • @MotorhomeCampervan
      @MotorhomeCampervan  3 роки тому +1

      Yes but do be careful to compare like with like. We often have higher specification on UK vehicles built on the continent both on the base vehicle and on the habitation area, so a straight comparison of prices does not always tell the full story. Some British buyers do buy in the EU but the vast majority buy UK-spec RHD models from UK dealers.

    • @carlos76437
      @carlos76437 3 роки тому +2

      Like the mmm said, it's all due to spec. Continental motorhomes ordered by UK dealers are very well equipped. Often manufacturers even have exclusive UK packs. Motorhomes for the german, and specially the french market, are very spartan regarding options. The same happens for the scandinavian markets.

    • @adrianhockey9334
      @adrianhockey9334 3 роки тому

    Nice Capervan and decent review, tell me please, what is wrong with 120BHP, our Peugeot Boxer Autocruise has 120 BHP, we tow a trailer with a big motorcycle in it, I say in it because we use a custom braked trailer, all up ready for Holidays 4200Kg, no issues with towing up hills and down dales and still returns 34MPG, manual sis speed box.
    We have noticed that a lot ofVan conversions now have the sliding door on the offside, a backward step we think.

    • @peterv3642
      @peterv3642 3 роки тому

      It all depends what you're used to. Many buyers in this sector are new to campervans or trading up from a VW T5/T6. In either case, 120bhp will feel very underpowered. My much smaller VW has 150bhp and I wouldn't want less. Yes, some will be happy with 120bhp but most seem to feel that 140bhp is the right engine for this size of 'van and the 160bhp is nice if you can afford it - more power (esp torque) makes for a more relaxing drive with fewer gearchanges.
      Imported models often have the sliding door on the offside as it's too costly to redevelop the layout, but few buyers seem to mind.

      @@peterv3642 Thanks for the reply, for a fully laden Campervan with 120 HP our van never feels underpowered, no need for more, it is the use of the torque and gears that matter, you and many others would be amazed at the locations we have reached in our campervan, not only on tarmac but fairs admirably off road, although i must admit I am a professional driver, with off road and police training(for my job) which many owners are not.

      Normally you're ok for a couple of days. Obviously depends on the ambient temperature outside and the capacity of the leisure battery. If you're serious about parking up without hook-up just add a second battery and/or a solar panel. Compressor fridges are much more tilt-tolerant and you can just switch them on and they quickly reach operating temperature - no fiddling about switching power sources
