Recently picked up this game on emulator to play the English patch (the one i played so far has no text beyond the text box boundaries, so i think it has improved), and I found out if you made good use of the Digipieces, all fights become way shorter. Like, last night i just defeated VenomVamdemon (VenomMyotismon) in probably only 5-7 minutes (excluding all cutscenes) because each time my Digimon attacks it inflicts maximum 9999 damage or near to it. I am still yet to start the Dark Masters arc but compared to the Boss in Digimon Data Squad, the enemies in this game are way less tankier if you can take advantage of the Digipieces modification. Also, power of emulator frameskipping to speed up farming is just as broken as power of friendship.

The game is pretty awesome, but it sucks that the post-game is... the game itself. After you finish the "tai-clone cameos", you can replay the entire game but keeping your levels/digipieces/etc, and there's a new dungeon with the toughest digimon to battle... but you can't use Tailmon/Angewomon/Ofanimon until you replay the Myotismon saga... which sucks.
good to see the counseling is working and u put the osaurus back in, but as ur legal guardians were still concerned about the lack of nier, chrono cross, and valkyrie profile vidoes due to this digimon induced psychosis it may be time to switch ur meds
Why you didn't mentioned the extra part when you team up with all the leaders from anime and fight the final boss and then fight Gankoomon? Just wondering
I did! I used PPSSPP 1.3. Just make sure you're using D3D9 as the rendering backend, and my rendering mode was set to read to memory (GPU), but I've been stuffing around with PSP stuff a lot lately, that said, I ran it just now and it's fine. Good luck! Edit: actually, I just had issues with it with the GPU read to memory. The best rendering mode I found was skip buffer.
Overly harsh on this one but you give good reasons for your criticism so no beef there. This is still the Digimon game I enjoy the most, both for nostalgia and the gameplay. I have to say the visuals still look beautiful for the PSP and I preferred this game over most Pokemon games in the last... don't know how many years. For any latin american weeabo that played this game, I can say that the nostalgia in it is really fucking strong with the soundtracks and models.
I try not to be overly-harsh, but you gotta speak your truth. I try to at least justify it in most cases, so as not to piss anyone off unnecessarily! You're right about the nostalgia though, it was brutal, and I'm not even Latin American!
I thought this game was fun, but the difficulty was pretty inconsistant. Also, I think the leveling system was a bit flawed because it leads to unbalance in level especially for Patamon who is too weak throughout most of the game.
You know there is a chip that gives double exp to the Digimon that you equip it? I just give it to Patamon so despite the fact I never used him unless I was forced to he keeped up with the rest of the Party in terms of Lv and once he got his Ultimate evelution he become pretty bad ass. I found Magnaangemon better than most Mega Digimon including Seraphimon. Havensgate hits hard and has a high chance of delaying the next turn. On top of that holy attacks do insane amounts of damage to certain Digimons like Piedmon. In the Boss fight against him I actually made wargraymon a support Character because he could not do much to Piedmon while the Angels just slaughtered him. The Part where you have to face Piedmon without the Angels is a huge pain. You know when you get Phoenixmon. The sections where Patamon is forced into the party where never really an Issue. When Metalgarurumon was forced into the Party that was annoying. To be frank I found both Lilimon and Magnaangemon way more useful than Metalgarurumon. Lilimons debuf move rocks pretty hard and buffs and debuffs are incredible powerful in this game so I got actually more out of it If I buff up Wargraymon and used Lilimon to debuff instead of letting both Mega Digimon just attack. On top of enable Wargraymon to Rip the enemy a new one the enemys attack become so weak because of the debuff Angewomon needs to heal less often and can ad some damage ore buffs herself. Yeah the debuff move is kinda luck based but the odds are in the players favour. There was a round against Venommyotismon where the debuff move worked so well that Angewomon did not needed to heal the group once. I just slaughtered him without him being able to do shit to me. Because of that Metalgarurumon was pretty much a liability and was pretty underlevelt when I was forced to use him. I found it really funny when I used Lilimon instead of Metalgarurumon in the party against Venommyotismon.
I'm generally pretty keen to take recommendations, but I just can't do anime anymore. About 10 years ago, I was a huge animeboi, but then I got 250~ episodes in to One Piece and burnt out entirely. The only things I've stuck with in the past 10 years have been my obligatory re-watch of Code Geass, K-ON!! and Shimoneta. Took me 2 years to watch Space Dandy, it just doesn't keep me amused anymore.
kind of a unrelated comment lol but since you metioned grandia here are 2 and 3 any good? I loved 1 as a kid but never really got into the follow ups are they worth playing?
Yes! I honestly think Grandia 2 is better than the first in almost every regard. The only downside is that there's no beautiful pixel art because it's largely 3D, but they weave some traditional 2D animation in there as well, and it looks sick. It got a HD rerelease on PC about 3 years ago as well, and it's on GoG, so DRM-free baby. I want to do a video on it at some point!
I used PPSSPP, and if you look for it, it's definitely around. There might be a particular... blog. This blog might have some nitro in front of it. It might be there :^)
If it includes stuff from the first movie but doesn't have Tai wrestling Koromon to Fatboy Slim's 1998 breakout hit "Rockafeller Skank", then this game is a 0/10.
I enjoyed Digimon, it wasn’t a pokemon rip-off like people said. Honestly if anyone would actually research stuff then they would find out that rip-offs aren’t all as they seem.

Oh, damn. I never got that far into it :(
I went in a fair bit, and just thought it was the endless dungeon forever. That honestly sounds kinda cool.
I'd love to see a sequel to this
Me too, mostly because I stopped watching the second series about halfway through. It'd be cool to know how that ends.
good to see the counseling is working and u put the osaurus back in, but as ur legal guardians were still concerned about the lack of nier, chrono cross, and valkyrie profile vidoes due to this digimon induced psychosis it may be time to switch ur meds
I don't think I'll do NIER at this point, but those other two are on the hit-list hey.
@@Caspicum sweet ill be lookn for that 1 hour nier retrospective cumn soon
Why you didn't mentioned the extra part when you team up with all the leaders from anime and fight the final boss and then fight Gankoomon? Just wondering
That's after all the post-game stuff right? I stopped playing when it kept feeding me the same colour-swapped bosses over and over.
I'm not sure if your working on something currently but maybe you can review fossil fighter champions maybe
Also what is you icon like what species is it I'm assuming some kind of dinosour
Did you emulate on ppsspp? Can't get the right settings working 😃👍keep up the good work man
The best rendering mode I found was skip buffer.
i did not know there was a digimon game on psp
“Digimon Adventure, the Chinese cartoon.”
Congratulations... you just stated WW3.
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I stopped playing Nier to watch this video; better be fucking good, Casp.
It's not, stop watching.
I hope it didn't disappoint!
If there was an English version of this game we'd hear the Digimon theme alll the time
The Digirap would 100% be in that.
I thought this game was fun, but the difficulty was pretty inconsistant. Also, I think the leveling system was a bit flawed because it leads to unbalance in level especially for Patamon who is too weak throughout most of the game.
The Patamon sections genuinely had me questioning "Do I skip this and go straight to Hacker's Memory instead?"
fuck patamon
I found it really funny when I used Lilimon instead of Metalgarurumon in the party against Venommyotismon.
despite the combat being meh this game is pretty charming, one day you should make a video on the anime specifically seasons 1-3
I can't wait for hacker's memory!!
It actually looks pretty sick from the little I've seen!
I love the cel shaded style!
Me too tbh. It looks great for a PSP game
kind of a unrelated comment lol but since you metioned grandia here are 2 and 3 any good? I loved 1 as a kid but never really got into the follow ups are they worth playing?
Yes! I honestly think Grandia 2 is better than the first in almost every regard. The only downside is that there's no beautiful pixel art because it's largely 3D, but they weave some traditional 2D animation in there as well, and it looks sick. It got a HD rerelease on PC about 3 years ago as well, and it's on GoG, so DRM-free baby.
I want to do a video on it at some point!
@@Caspicum Damn on PC and GoG ok you sold it im gonna get it
@@Caspicum when will this beeeeee
@@15RevX Not soon enough :( I re-bought the re-re-release of Grandia 2 on Steam so maybe sooner than we think!
@@Caspicum again?? im guessing they didnt change that much... going to google now
Still better than pokemon sword and shield
ExTrA bOnDaGe OpPoRtUnItYs!!
Hey Casp where did you emulate the game from? It's a japanese only title in the physical format so its obviously been fan translated??
I used PPSSPP, and if you look for it, it's definitely around. There might be a particular... blog. This blog might have some nitro in front of it.
It might be there :^)
@@Caspicum much appreciated, as always great vids and videos. Look forward to the latest digimon game when it comes out.
@@oldschooltrainer9951 Have fun with the game, my dude! I appreciate the kind words!
You're kidding. I just started playing this yesterday and could take find a review.
Your prayers have been answered!
Have you played child of light before?
I have!
Don't say such things about your sex life, Casp. You're a strong and beautiful man.
Just believe in yourself more. I love you.
no, I love you!
Dost Kayaoğlu
If it includes stuff from the first movie but doesn't have Tai wrestling Koromon to Fatboy Slim's 1998 breakout hit "Rockafeller Skank", then this game is a 0/10.
Isn't Digimon from the Philippines?
It is now!
I enjoyed Digimon, it wasn’t a pokemon rip-off like people said. Honestly if anyone would actually research stuff then they would find out that rip-offs aren’t all as they seem.
I hope Bandai could make Digimon 02 and Tamer be like this
I enjoyed what I saw of Digimon 02, that'd be sick.
Brave hearts such good ost it gives me a nostalgic bonner rush everytime I hear it
It's a Japanese cartoon.
This was unexpected to say the least, the game looks super interesting. It makes me wonder if it was on a more viable system if we would have gotten a western release.
We missed a lot of other releases around the same time, so probably not. It was a strange time for the old Digman.
You could have gotten takato, takuya, Marcus/Masaru, taiki/Mikey and Taiguri
YES!
A Chinese cartoon?
I'm glad they didn't put the "cooler american" opening and digievolution songs in the spanish version, that would have ruin the series so much :')
Honestly I found Metalgarurumon kinda useless. Lilimon and latter Magnaangemon proofed to be way more useful.
I still say the english digimon tune was better than the japanese music, even all these years later
This is like Pokemon ash gray but official. And digimon
Ash Gray? Is that a mod?
@@Caspicum it's a pokemon firered romhack that follows the anime episodes by heart and certain things are limited to what pokemon you own.
So its just do exactly the same as in the anime to progress. Its well made tho.
@@Makocat Oh wow, that actually sounds pretty good.
love your digimon game reviews and still hoping for Digimon Adventure Anode/Cathode Tamer Veedramon Version (yes it's a rpg and yes it's in english)
If it's in English, and it's Digimon, I'll get to it at some point! Thanks for sticking around!
Odd to see you speak so positively of it, personally it's my least favourite Digimon game as the battles felt like a slog and the story was a worse version of the original.
I guess our opinions on Digimon games differ quite a bit lol
Right? I never thought I'd say anything nice about Digimon ever!
