This series is turning into a case study on how many ways can Casp O'saurus can say "they fucked up the digivalution tree". On a side note, you seem to be putting out videos more often and that makes life a little more worth living.
I'm hoping it's the last time I have to say it, but I've still got 3 games to go until it's all done. Digimon games are schizo to the EXTREEEEEEEEEEME. Also, I do want to aim for one video every 2/3 weeks, instead of one a month. I'm off to a good start!
If I can get Quest 64 running well, and accurately, on an emulator (because I really don't want to buy that shit and it's not on Virtual Console) then Quest 64. If I can't, I'll either do a video on the almost RPGs of the N64 (Gauntlet Legends, Pokemon Stadium, Hybrid Heaven, etc.) or just do the final game as I pool my money to buy a legitimate copy of... whatever the fuck Quest 64 is called in PAL regions. Holy Magic Century or some garbage
If I had followed the series as a youth, I'd be pretty disappointed. Luckily, from what I've heard, Dusk and Dawn are some of the best entries in the series.
Casp O'saurus be prepared to be disappointed at how much more tedious they made the evolution system... And then surprised at how quickly it stops bothering you
From when I played this game years ago, I don't remember any issue with running away in battle. There's still a rather large "ESCAPE" button directly below the basic attack command your cursor starts on every fight, and it still functions whether there's other escape related hexes or not. A lot of the other stuff I do agree with, especially the bloated and grindy evo trees. Also, the hexes don't cover up your health, at least not the hp bar of the Digimon you're actively on at that moment, which is displayed right in the center of the screen. I vaguely remember clicking one of the thumb sticks also hid all hexes so you could see the battlefield and other hp bars at any time, which would have also alleviated that issue to a degree. The perfect fix, I would say, would be having single hexes like the command all item gives but maybe with a "x1/x2" etc beside them to display how much your Digimon wants to use that particular skill
This game is clearly a ripoff of Pokemon Coliseum. That game came out 4 years prior to this game. It makes sense it didn't come to the Wii. Nintendo would've called them out.
Just combine the videos if they are the same game more or less. And I do give a fuck, I love these videos. I hope more Digimon games come out and you're stuck reviewing them forever. Because I'm selfish like that.
I'll definitely follow the series as new games come out. I've taken quite a liking to the Next Orders and Cyber Sleuths, as I think they're the best entries outside of the original Digimon World. I'll probably be talking about Digimon until I eventually quit UA-cam or die, hey. I've had a few people say they want two separate videos, but if it's a Pokemon Red/Blue deal, then I'll likely combine them.
@@InsaneGarrison25 Yeah, I have to admit Cyber Sleuth is awesome (now that I've finally played it). On the competitive level it isn't as impressive, but plot-wise, it's fantastic.
@@SBaby Tbf what you say is still right, 1 good game and 1 awful game doesn't change that. Survive looks pretty cool but so does Gen 4 remakes and Arceus.
I'm getting mixed signals, but I guess I'll decide when I get around to playing it. I assumed it'd just be a brief mention of the differences, and that'd be that.
Casp O'saurus I would say do one. Because do you really want to suffer those huge ass random spawn rates? I would do dusk as it has more places to go(assumingly) but dawn is better to look at in terms of main area. I would say, if your willing to do both, get an action replay and turn off random encounters and get all "digi dex" info then get 999% data on all digimon (because it only gives 999% to the digimon you have in your list when you use it. So getting the all filled out "digi dex" code first is better) and then digitize some Megas and steam role the other version.
I give a fuck. I'm happy to see one of these pop up in my subbox. And as for Dusk/Dawn, they're the same game from different perspectives. So one game has a couple levels that the other doesn't, whatever game you aren't playing has the "bad" team, etc. So one video with a shortlist of the differences would be perfectly doable, but it is more detail than a Pokemon red/blue situation. If you do want two videos, making the review about one version then a bonus video covering the alternate reality that is the other version might be a good and simple approach to keep things organised, without having to repeat yourself.
You're the hero Digimon fans need. Admittedly though as a kid I 100% completed the game, including getting all digivolutions for every character and beating all the secret bosses. Looking back, no way could I do that now. I had such lower standards back then that I even spent over 100 hours on Digimon World 4. Ugh. Next Order and Cyber Sleuth are really fun and stylish though, particularly Cyber Sleuth with the stylish, so I think I can forgive it a little. They're getting better at making Digimon games now that they're realizing that the series works better with slightly darker themes or a more "teenage anime" feeling rather than a kid's show. Especially since the majority of players at this point are young adults or older. Do you plan on reviewing the Digimon fighting games at any point? Rumble Arena 1 and 2 were my childhood, and I still think highly of them to this day.
I don't care what ya say, Data Squad was a good game. I find this video quite hilarious cause it sounds like you're roasting the game in general. Still, it's a fun game IMO and I'm glad I found it.
Casp O'saurus Same. Also, I never really wanted to get every digivolution in the game since it felt tedious to do. Plus, I prefer the canon digivolution line in the game.
I played the Japanese version when I was a kid and thought the battle interface was cool even thought I don't understand Japanese but I learnt a few kanji from playing it and remember grinding in the first level just to beat a boss
I find it weird that DWDS keeps the Japanese Digivolution term "DigiSoul Charge", but the anime uses "DNA Charge". Even though both the anime and the game use the same voice cast.
My only thought throughout this entire review is how in the hell does Casp know what two cats fucking sounds like, Does he actively search the neighborhoods to try to find as many cats having sex as humanly possible. If so, than that's one hell of a commitment. In all seriousness though, despite all the flaws that this game has - I'm more than willing to give it a solid try even though I'm sure it won't be the most wonderful experience but I'll find something to like about it.
I'd recommend a speed-up button, but if you can tolerate the slow crawl of an ancient relic, then you're a better man than I. Also, I imagine two cats fucking sounds like any noise Michael Bay has ever used in a movie.
when i got a ps2 from a neighbor in 2011 i went to gamestop and saw this game and being a digimon lover i had to get it and it was the very first non handheld console game i can recall beating and i loved it and now that you said that there was a song with cats doing it i had though the same thing while playing the game
Just found your videos and watched the hole playlist of Digimon reviews! Love It! Waiting for Dusk and Dawn! I think you should do only one video and mention the differences between then!
God, it's been so long that I don't remember but they probably were. I wouldn't be this sour about a fairly mediocre JRPG if it didn't slight me with long load screens.
kap1618 ehm what? always? Please. Digimon world DS, Digimon Dawn/Dusk, 2003 and are all better than Pokemon diamond/pearl, X/Y, ORAS, and at least on par with sun & moon. Also, Digimon world, Digimon world re: digitize, Digimon world next order... All of those had great use of the digital world.
Ah I remember this game from my childhood, actually got some enjoyment out of it though not as much as digimon world dawn, and im pretty sure that you were able to digivolve outside of battle, though that could just be my memory, great video review.
You can Digivolve outside battle, but only to things you've already unlocked. It's nice, because it means I only have to hit some of the stupid requirements once, but it's still a very bizarre choice. That was originally a point in my script, but I ended up scrapping it and a few other points for some reason.
Thanks for another great and informative review. Looking foreword to your review of Next Order. Also I would say do a combined video for dusk and dawn, would like to see the comparisons side by side.
I've already done Next Order! There's a Digimon playlist on my channel featuring all of the Digimon videos I've done thus far. I think we're at like 8 or 9 now.
I actually played this when I was a kid and I had no idea it was this bad, I enjoyed it for the most part. Maybe it's due to the fact I didn't speak english back then but, I loved this game. Nice review tho.
I'm not even four minutes into your video and I thought to myself, "Why not just watch the anime?" Like you said in your description - no one was asking for this kind of Digimon Savers game.
Casp O'saurus LOL. It's just a waste of a game and this video made me never want to touch it. Then again, I mainly played the old Digimon World games and opted out years ago from things like this.
Digimon World Dawn and Dusk were some of my favorite games growing up. They were the only games I never traded in and I can't wait to hear your opinion on them!
Big fan of this series. Currently playing Next Order and it's honestly a lot of fun while ultimately not really being a much better game than the original Digimon World. The old one just has a lot of charm to it and is a bit more fun playing through (if you use an emulator that is). All the other games range from bad to decent IMO.
i loved this game as a kid i remember trying to get myotismon but he needed 4000bilion negative friend points and i had no idea how to do it also he didnt had a mega so wasnt worth anyway
You know, Casp, at this rate you' might as well start reviewing the animes, too. You'll finally catch up to playing all the games, anyway, so that's something, right?
Here's my review of all anime ever: I am not a virgin. Seriously though, I don't think I'll ever talk about anime. Anime games? Absolutely. Anime shows? I'll leave that to the pros.
Which Digimon did you prefer using in this? I just used the main three, mostly. I tried switching between all 6 at first, but trying to get Biyomon and Renamon caught up to the other four can be a pain.
Oh man, it's been a while since I played... I know for sure Agumon was in my team. It must've been Agumon, Gaomon, and whatever that plant one is called, I can't recall the name right now. I keep going to type "Palmon" but it's definitely not that. I might've subbed them out for Renamon later on.
One thing that I have to say, I love to stall agumon digivolution and do it on bosses to deal the final hit (since MC will hit the enemy to evolve agumon)
Just combine the videos because the differences are just some plot points ( they're basically the same, but the character and some events are slightly different ), dungeon orders and there's version exclusive digimon.
I never played this one as I was waiting until I got around to finishing the Savers anime one of these days. The hexagon thing is just weird. Them filling the screen looks kind of cool, but is way too intrusive and troublesome. If I was going to do it, I'd basically stick with that simple menu, and maybe there could be conditions where your digimon is provoked or upset or something, then like an air raid siren or something goes off and the screen flashes red and fills with the hexagon's and you have to try and manage what they want to do, but it should be a unique issue you deal with, not a core game mechanic. It's cool that the 7 great demon lords are in it, and playable at that. I assumed they weren't what with the set partners, but checking a guide it seems at least some of them are, so that's a plus. But I'm not exactly excited, especially with the encounter rate.
It's just so funny because I was thinking about that game earlier and I saw that and thought, man that looks really familiar oh I know where that's from , and then it made me sad because I want XD gale of Darkness on the switch so much or at least a continuation
Also since you haven't played it I highly suggest it, it's a great game the art style takes a little getting used to at first most interesting story and fun evil villains and just mean evil villains it's a fun game
I liked it a lot as a kid, then saw your video and thought :maybe it is a bad game just my child self doesnt know gpod from bad. I am.currently replaying it, at the rotating platforms area, 19 hours of gameplay trynna complete the galaxies and honestly im habing a lot of fun. Its a gppd game if you're willing to have fun with it. Im familiar with bad games. But for a casual or someone with not enough patience i dont recommend it.
my views on dmw data squad: 1. i love data squad , its like early version of cyber sleuth , but ofc DMCS is a lot better 2. while the encounter is shit , i appreciate the no encounter item 3. the gameplay itself is super easy up to boring , you can beat lv 40 boss with lv 15 party (i beat darkdramon early with items) 4. if you dont want to collect all digivolution, the game is just like 5 hours long (lv 24-25) but if you want to get all digivolution , then it will turn into a massive dragging grinding hell that can be solved with frameskip (LOL) conclution? just play them because you want enjoy beating enemies with cool mega / ultra digimons other than that dont hope too much
Going from digimon world 4 to this was something i didn't mind too much. Heck i got my digimon up to max level, nearly got all the digivolutions for each digimon, i can say i spent a good 300+ hours on this game alone. Savers was my favorite season of digimon so i guess little me sorta got blinded by this game's inconsistency and flaws because holy shit going back in to start over just ain't happening for me. I stuck to my 300+ hour game file and basically played: "How can i kill the final boss in 1 turn this time?" I recall pretty much everything about Savers, I honestly thought the plot for this game was so underwhelming though once i learned what exactly were the seven demon lords. We only got Belphemon in Savers and karata too i guess and it took burst mode to beat them. Then we had the royal knights and king yggdrasil. Instead of getting a copy-paste of the anime we got a game where its only bearable until you digivolve into something you didn't want. I still like savers, pretty sure im a minority when it comes to that, but i honestly just don't like this game anymore. Going in a second time with a much better understanding of what the antagonists are actually capable of and how the story builds just felt meh. Though the clusterfuck of hexagons was never a bother to me, I was still able to read the health but that was just me, but i agree they seriously could've done so much better with that. Wait why am i commenting so seriously on a mediocre game on a 7 month old video
Don't stress about it, my dude. I still monitor old videos and try to respond to everything, so thanks for the comment! I've never been a fan of the anime outside of enjoying the first season when I was 11 or something, so it's interesting to hear from people people who enjoy the anime then try to get something of worth out of the games. It's also a shame that certain anime never got a good adaption, but I guess that happens with a lot of shows. Gotta say though, there're some games which I love regardless of how bad they are, and I don't know if it's a nostalgia-driven thing, or if it's that the game had some really cool ideas, and just didn't execute them particularly well. Thanks for the comment!
If there's one thing that almost made me stay for the new journey of my new play through it was that music, the battle music was catchy enough to not be annoying, plus the transition from after a certain point in the game where the music goes from this light beat techno-like music to a more serious song was something i can't get enough of. Though if we're talking games we love regardless of how bad they are for me its gotta be sonic 06 and it used to be digimon world data squad until i got spoiled rotten by other jrpg games. for some reason, i just enjoy sonic 06. But yeah, even little me who tried his best to enjoy the game and did, didn't enjoy how the digivolutions were like a gamble at times because you'd meet a condition during battle and likely chance a poor 10-12 year old can't remember what digimon you were close to meeting the conditions for. Even little me felt frustrated by the slap in the face the game would give me when my mega level goes back to a champion level.
I can always count on you for my Diggy-mon fix. :P That is quite the horrible interface for the battles. I can't believe someone looked at that and thought it was the best option. :/
This was my favorite season of Digimon and was so excited for there to be one focusing on this season. It was so awful, I'm still upset I preordered this game expecting greatness.
LOL Well I loved it but mainly for the Digimon index in game. the cat one was that the etemon fights? the funny thing is I think they game was better then the anime..... and the best thing about the game was the digimon index.
Hey!, i did like this crap when i was a child with nothing to do lol PS: are you going analize the Digimon Online games?, i mean Digimon Masters and the dead for a long time Digimon Battle Online, just curiosity :D
As a kid with nothing to do, this game would've been fine. As an adult rapidly approaching death, it'll probably be better than Quest 64, which is next on the chopping block.
comment summary: easter egg 9999 dmg < x dmg = 0 dmg according game with couldnt be calculated error message here's an easter egg, I found a way to power up digimon stats using a certain evolution path (after unlocking what I can without intense grinding). I managed to overpower my Rosemon and ShineGreymon where damage reaches 9999. The easter egg behind this is damage calculation only reaches 9999 and if your power reaches a damage calculation above 9999 then the game responds to you with 0 damage also saying damage couldnt be calculated. That makes it extremely frusterating when youre farming Lucimon for evolution requirements.
I loved this game, just as good as it's spin off show. Idk if you know about the secret room that contains the strongest Digimons but you didn't mention it. Also the evolution family tree doesn't work as you think. Grinding will of course take a long time (that's why they added the high encounter rate) anyway the idea to stick in one or two evolution lines to get a mega Digimon. I agree with everything else you said but hey it's a ps2 game in the 2007
Casp in the final area there is a room where you can get Omnimon. on the dragon island place with lilithmon there is a secret pattern you put into the orbs that float to get either darkmon or chaosmon can't remember exactly it's been forever there is also one in the ice dungeon place.
In the cave mission (third mission i think) there's a secret room, where you talk to some villager then you start fighting new bosses and old ones. I don't remember well
I'm curious to know if you'll be utilizing DNA Digivolution in Dawn/Dusk? Most, if not all of the absolute most powerful Digimon in those games can only be created that way.
I tried a couple of times, because I love Omnimon, and I generally try to get him in every game he's available. However, I didn't get him, but it's been so long I don't remember why. I'm pretty sure I had to devolve and then re-level my MetalGarurumon up to 75 or 80 or something, and I just didn't have it in me. Especially considering all I really had left to do was a few side quests and the tamer ranks, which I just gave up on. I wasn't committed to the grind like I was in DS, and I'll detail why in the video. I like getting powerful Digimon, but grinding for hours to get them isn't worth what little content is in Dusk/Dawn. DS kinda justified the heavy grind with the deadly sins, but unless I'm missing something big, I think I did pretty much everything in Dusk/Dawn.
That's fine, I completely understand. DNA Digivolution requires quite a bit of patience, especially making the best like ZeedMillenniummon and Chronomon HM. Whenever I restart one of these games I make sure to get started on doing the ones available to me as soon as the the Digimon required become available, especially the longer ones. I also can't deny that practically all of them are quite obscure to make.
Also, just in case you don't already know. Only the Digimon you use to initiate fusion is the one which needs to have met the requirements. I remember not knowing about this when I initially started doing DNA Digivolution.
Oddly enough I was going to play this exact game for the first time but instead decided to check if my shin megami tensei 3 copy would work this time and here I am a few hours into that masterpiece instead lmao. As for Dawn and Dusk, should you make them their own videos? No. Can you? Yeah but like... you'll repeat yourself a lot. To put it simply without spoiling anything, think of them like a pokemon game duo, Dawn: version exclusive mangs, quests and "one side of the main story," Dusk: version exclusive mangs, quests, "other side of main story." I guess creatively speaking I'd recommend just doing like a 20/30 min video covering both since talking about the story might be a good 10/15 minutes, like 5/6 per game I guess. Either way, can't wait for it tho~
Nocturne is my jam! I'm glad you're spending time with arguably the best MegaTen title over this fucking trash. As for Dusk/Dawn, I've been doing some thinking, and I might have a unique idea for it! Excited to see how that develops.
Yeah, I've been really wanting to give SMT3 a go for years and finally got to and man it's kicking my ass, so I'm glad I chose it over this (which I will still play through at least once bc digimang fan). Kickass man, can't wait to see what you come up with for the vid~
Man i really love this game, but hear me out. When i was little i didn't know english (born Brazilian btw), so the story part had 0 effect on me. The battle system was like a Mini game to get the attacks that me and my cousin wanted and the grind part of evo wasn't a Big Deal, because we didn't had money to buy a New game . The game is bad, but i have such good memorys from this... Sorry for any spelling mistakes, it's quite hard to remember Ever word in english =)
Your English is fine! No worries, mate. I love a bunch of games that haven't held up particularly well either, such as Alundra 2, so going back to them is fantastic, but there are certain parts which make you wish for death. I'm glad someone can play this and enjoy themselves though! Thanks for the comment!
A lot of people have a go at me for pointing it out, but they're largely bad games. The new ones are great, but the older ones are largely forgotten for a reason!
The only ones I know of that are published by Bandai Namco are Digimon LinkZ, which is like the DS game, only without the walking part and weird % system of getting digimons(japanese only =\), and Digimon Heroes, which is a card game...sorta? Idk xD On second thought, I guess you're better off reviewing the digi's fighting games ;P
My Digimon World: Dawn manual flat out states that Digimon is not a copy of Pokemon. Is it safe to assume my copy is a bootleg, or is that really an official thing?
9:20 Lewis "SolarisParadox" Medeiros probably won't be a fan of that track because of his dislike of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I's soundtrack sounding like "dying cats". 9:26 Demon Lord (the final boss) reminds me of Origin Forme Giratina. 10:39 I'd say combine the two to kill them with one stone, if you know what I mean.
Fuck Sonic Episode 4. I was so excited for that game, and the bastards ruined it. The final boss does kinda look like Giratina, hey. This'd be good clickbait shit. "DIGIMON STEALS POKEMON!?!?" But that's just a theory, my dude. Thanks for the input!
UA-cam recommended your Digimon Dawn video to me, and I wished to see if you had this game reviewed on your channel. I played this game when I was a kid, and looking back on it, I absolutely hated this game. It was short, the fights were constant, the bosses were a joke, and whenever I think about this game, I wish to snap the disc over my knee. I'll stick with Pokemon, thanks.
@@Caspicum And even weirder to say, i didnt even knew about the Data Squad anime at this point, only saw until Tamers and few of Frontier....after playing some DW games on the PsOne i was kinda surprised when Agumon appeared as a comeback on the first cutscene (a nostalgic moment for me) and when it digivolved to Shinegreymon i felt it epic, but as i said, i didn't knew any of this existed lol
3:15 funny you mention the budget. I remember reading an interview about this game and Digimon World Dawn/Dusk (they were being developed at the same time as data squad). Apparently this game got most of the budget, yup they gave the budget to the shitty one. For the Dawn Dusk review just do a combined one. the only differences are the Digimon made avaialble to you, the dungeons you explore and the perzpective of the story, sure that's more version differences than Pokémon games will ever have but it's not enough to split them into 2 different videos as the core gameplay is the same. Just know that Night Claw rocks.
Yeah, it definitely split people. Some said two videos, while others said one. I don't know if there will be enough for 2, and I can't be arsed making two separate videos, so I'll probably combine them. Also, I'd love to read these interviews. I might try to find them, because Dusk/Dawn seems to be an expansion of Digimon World DS, which is one of the only focused Digimon experiences out there.
Unfortunately I don't remember where I found it (been a few years) all I remember is that the site had a dark blue background and I think I viewed it through the waybackmachine or internet archive.
It's certainly a possibility. RPGs are more my thing, so I'll be focusing on them largely, but there is a finite amount. ANything is possible, my dude.
I just replayed this game and I actually like the gameplay.... The content is lacking tho, and the story is just basic crap. I would add, the hub world could be better by actually being the base instead of just menu, it would result in deeper emotional connection when (spoiler) the real world got thrashed. The post game content is really lacking, there are a lot of megas to fight and a whole secret area with more megas but it's over once you've defeated them, it would be nice if you could rematch some of those megas like bantyoleomon, mercurimon, and the old man and commander. I actually didn't mind the hexagon. The emotion system is actually engaging and unique, it was frustrating at first but it became intuitive when I got the hang of it. You can reduce the hexagon by making your digimon less emotional, I didn't use command all even once in my playthrough, you could say I'm digitally empathetic now lol. I actually had to use friendship reducing items to get 2 evolution to myotismon. Running away was just better with items which now is actually useful, but the evolution requirements are grindy anyway so the encounter didn't bother me. The evolution galaxy is really cool, there just aren't a lot of digimon. I just got every evolution and realize a lot of them are just numemon like every digimon has access to this line it's just recycling content. And a lot of the classic ones like gomamon, tentomon, and terriermon lines didn't get any appearance. It made me realize that this game is actually just a glorified commercial for the savers anime. Sad tho because I really like how different this game feels. Edit: Oh btw, you can press triangle to view your digimon health etc during those messy hexagon thing.
This series is turning into a case study on how many ways can Casp O'saurus can say "they fucked up the digivalution tree". On a side note, you seem to be putting out videos more often and that makes life a little more worth living.

The angrier you are the funnier the video. This was the best one
I'm not sure I'd call it 'angry', more... Extremely confused!
The rotating platform area looks awfully a lot like Pokemon Colosseum's battle of 100 to me.
It could be! I never played any of the Pokemon battling games after Stadium 2.
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING
Same
This game is clearly a ripoff of Pokemon Coliseum. That game came out 4 years prior to this game. It makes sense it didn't come to the Wii. Nintendo would've called them out.
100% taken from Pokemon Colossuem lmao

Not anymore.
Cyber Sleuth >>>> Sword and Shield
@@InsaneGarrison25 Yeah, I have to admit Cyber Sleuth is awesome (now that I've finally played it). On the competitive level it isn't as impressive, but plot-wise, it's fantastic.
@@SBaby Tbf what you say is still right, 1 good game and 1 awful game doesn't change that. Survive looks pretty cool but so does Gen 4 remakes and Arceus.
Both Dawn and Dust are the same so just review them as one.
I'm getting mixed signals, but I guess I'll decide when I get around to playing it. I assumed it'd just be a brief mention of the differences, and that'd be that.
The differences are minor. Probably more minor than the two versions of any given Pokemon game.
Casp O'saurus at the very least put in the "secret" codes for dot falcomon/agumon and the other stuff to mimilize the long fights early game
Anyone played Digimon Chou Xros Wars? I find it better than Dawn an Dusk. Sadly it's in japanese.
I'll see if I can't contain it, and condense it into one video. I'd hate to flood my channel unnecessarily.
I think just having those items which control random encounter rate is enough to say that I can see why you enjoy it.
Casp O'saurus Yeah, I'll admit the random encounters get annoying after a while. Thank goodness for Low Encounter and No Encounter items.
I lived by No Encounter. It's a shame you get access to it really late. I still appreciated it existing though.
Casp O'saurus Same. Also, I never really wanted to get every digivolution in the game since it felt tedious to do. Plus, I prefer the canon digivolution line in the game.
RIP Veemon's evolution line.
Never heard of this game, glad I've never heard of it. Least you suffered for my amusement again
Quest 64 is next mate. The real suffering has yet to begin.
Somehow, kid me actually liked Quest 64. :o
I liked this game
I played the Japanese version when I was a kid and thought the battle interface was cool even thought I don't understand Japanese but I learnt a few kanji from playing it and remember grinding in the first level just to beat a boss
Hosea Davit thats cool. Myself I like the games even if its bad cause its my favorite series
I've been jumping around UA-cam watching channels like yours. Youre the only funny channel that talks about Digimon.
OH, YOU! You flatter me.
Surely there's gotta be some other channels which are funny and Digimon-related.
Your digimon reviews are the only digimon reviews I'm always looking forward too. I like how you review things, keep up the good work. #nohomo
Well...I guess I can make an exception...
when i got a ps2 from a neighbor in 2011 i went to gamestop and saw this game and being a digimon lover i had to get it and it was the very first non handheld console game i can recall beating and i loved it and now that you said that there was a song with cats doing it i had though the same thing while playing the game
I couldn't find the song, I thought I was crazy. Glad to get some confirmation on that in hindsight.
What song was that? Was that one when fighting Etemon?
I like the battle dialogues~ It often referenced the anime which is nice.
Just found your videos and watched the hole playlist of Digimon reviews! Love It! Waiting for Dusk and Dawn!
I think you should do only one video and mention the differences between then!
That's what will happen! Thanks for checking my stuff out!
Casp O'saurus thansks for noticing me senpai hahahaha, are you alredy playing it?
Maybe I am !!!!
I remember playing this game years ago and fondly recall the loading times being horrendous
God, it's been so long that I don't remember but they probably were. I wouldn't be this sour about a fairly mediocre JRPG if it didn't slight me with long load screens.
May as well combine them as they don't have that many differences.
digimon is always a step down from pokemon. They never take advantage of the dreamlike digital world from the tv show.
They definitely take elements from it, but not to the degree they should be.
kap1618 ehm what? always?
"My Uncle said it was ok" lol
Ah I remember this game from my childhood, actually got some enjoyment out of it though not as much as digimon world dawn, and im pretty sure that you were able to digivolve outside of battle, though that could just be my memory, great video review.
You can Digivolve outside battle, but only to things you've already unlocked. It's nice, because it means I only have to hit some of the stupid requirements once, but it's still a very bizarre choice. That was originally a point in my script, but I ended up scrapping it and a few other points for some reason.
The sneaky DIGimons you threw in there 😂
it'd explain why their claws are so dirty
Thanks for another great and informative review. Looking foreword to your review of Next Order. Also I would say do a combined video for dusk and dawn, would like to see the comparisons side by side.
I've already done Next Order! There's a Digimon playlist on my channel featuring all of the Digimon videos I've done thus far. I think we're at like 8 or 9 now.
I actually played this when I was a kid and I had no idea it was this bad, I enjoyed it for the most part. Maybe it's due to the fact I didn't speak english back then but, I loved this game.
Nice review tho.
Hey, if you like it, it's good to you, and that's all that matters!
TWO SEPARATE VIDEOS HOMIE, I STILL CARE
TWO SEPARATE VIDEOS? SHIT BOIII. I didn't think they were that different. I thought it was a Pokemon Blue/Red sort of deal.
Fun fact, this game was my childhood introduction to Roger Craig Smith.
I'm not even four minutes into your video and I thought to myself, "Why not just watch the anime?" Like you said in your description - no one was asking for this kind of Digimon Savers game.
Nah fuck anime dude. I watch real man shows like Avatar the Last Airbender and Korra the First Gender-Bender
Casp O'saurus LOL. It's just a waste of a game and this video made me never want to touch it. Then again, I mainly played the old Digimon World games and opted out years ago from things like this.
I love that he calls it dig-e-man throughout the video lol
This is one of the best digimon games
Digimon World Dawn and Dusk were some of my favorite games growing up. They were the only games I never traded in and I can't wait to hear your opinion on them!
I do remember enjoying them, but it's been a good decade or so since I played them. It'll be interesting nonetheless!
I dont know why but i lost it when you said dig e mon
I always wondered if that was well-timed. Now I know! Thank you.
Big fan of this series.
Currently playing Next Order and it's honestly a lot of fun while ultimately not really being a much better game than the original Digimon World. The old one just has a lot of charm to it and is a bit more fun playing through (if you use an emulator that is).
All the other games range from bad to decent IMO.
i loved this game as a kid
i remember trying to get myotismon but he needed 4000bilion negative friend points and i had no idea how to do it
also he didnt had a mega so wasnt worth anyway
You can buy items which manipulate friendship, and I did it solely to unlock Myotismon, who I've always loved, but yeah, he was shit.
rofl at the "cats fucking at the background"
You know, Casp, at this rate you' might as well start reviewing the animes, too. You'll finally catch up to playing all the games, anyway, so that's something, right?
Here's my review of all anime ever:
I am not a virgin.
One thing that I have to say, I love to stall agumon digivolution and do it on bosses to deal the final hit (since MC will hit the enemy to evolve agumon)
underrated channel
that stage with rotating platforms reminds me of the floors challengers of Pokemon XD and Colosseum
Oh shit. It is pretty similar.
Just combine the videos because the differences are just some plot points ( they're basically the same, but the character and some events are slightly different ), dungeon orders and there's version exclusive digimon.
There seems to be more people saying combine them, so that's likely what will happen.
ahhh the reviewer that i like so much!!!!!!
IT'S SALTY! You make all of my foods taste so much better. You're the real hero here.
Will you be looking over the japanese only Digimon Story: Lost Evolution at any point? I imported the game a few months ago and its really good IMO
It's a possibility. There's a significantly higher chance if it has an English translation.
Casp O'saurus I don't think there is one YET, but I know that the same team who made the re: digitize patch also started one for lost evolution
This game doesn't have a variable-width font. That's localisation 101.
Rumour has it, when you look up localisation in the dictionary, there's a picture of this game.
Is that the platform from Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness and Colosseum? you know from that fight 10 Trainers in a row thing. At 4:10
It could very well be. I haven't played it, but I've heard other people say the same thing!
It's just so funny because I was thinking about that game earlier and I saw that and thought, man that looks really familiar oh I know where that's from , and then it made me sad because I want XD gale of Darkness on the switch so much or at least a continuation
Also since you haven't played it I highly suggest it, it's a great game the art style takes a little getting used to at first most interesting story and fun evil villains and just mean evil villains it's a fun game
boy o boy, cant wait for digimon dank and champion being reviewd
They next my boooooyyyyyy
Oh my God, that battle interface.
fuck interesting battle background niqqa we cookin' with HEXAGONS
🤣 🤣 🤣 That uncle joke... Bruh 😂
Dammit now i wanna play just to see for my self
I recommend you do! Never just take my word for it, test it for yourself, and if you think I'm wrong, let me know!
But for a casual or someone with not enough patience i dont recommend it.
my views on dmw data squad:
1. i love data squad , its like early version of cyber sleuth , but ofc DMCS is a lot better
2. while the encounter is shit , i appreciate the no encounter item
3. the gameplay itself is super easy up to boring , you can beat lv 40 boss with lv 15 party (i beat darkdramon early with items)
4. if you dont want to collect all digivolution, the game is just like 5 hours long (lv 24-25)
but if you want to get all digivolution , then it will turn into a massive dragging grinding hell that can be solved with frameskip (LOL)
conclution? just play them because you want enjoy beating enemies with cool mega / ultra digimons
other than that dont hope too much
You pretty much spoiled this entire review in my lifestream.
The few people who came out got a sneak peak for a video they didn't care about
I'm REALLY curious about which track is the "cats f*cking" one lmao
Going from digimon world 4 to this was something i didn't mind too much. Heck i got my digimon up to max level, nearly got all the digivolutions for each digimon, i can say i spent a good 300+ hours on this game alone. Savers was my favorite season of digimon so i guess little me sorta got blinded by this game's inconsistency and flaws because holy shit going back in to start over just ain't happening for me. I stuck to my 300+ hour game file and basically played: "How can i kill the final boss in 1 turn this time?"
I recall pretty much everything about Savers, I honestly thought the plot for this game was so underwhelming though once i learned what exactly were the seven demon lords.
I feel that. Pretty sure I took a gamble during the final boss, and my RiseGreymon or wahtever became a Numemon. That fucked me up.
I can always count on you for my Diggy-mon fix. :P That is quite the horrible interface for the battles. I can't believe someone looked at that and thought it was the best option. :/
I'm horrible when it comes to visual design, so if I can see a flaw with it, you've *REALLY* fucked up. Enter: Digimon.
Hey!, i did like this crap when i was a child with nothing to do lol
PS: are you going analize the Digimon Online games?, i mean Digimon Masters and the dead for a long time Digimon Battle Online, just curiosity :D
As a kid with nothing to do, this game would've been fine. As an adult rapidly approaching death, it'll probably be better than Quest 64, which is next on the chopping block.
comment summary: easter egg 9999 dmg < x dmg = 0 dmg according game with couldnt be calculated error message
here's an easter egg, I found a way to power up digimon stats using a certain evolution path (after unlocking what I can without intense grinding).
That's ridiculous. You think it'd just cap you hey.
the battle animations look cool
at least optional bosses were interesting. worth fighting against omnimon.
I agree with everything else you said but hey it's a ps2 game in the 2007
I'm not entirely sure what room you're talking about, you'd have to be more specific, my boy.
Casp in the final area there is a room where you can get Omnimon. on the dragon island place with lilithmon there is a secret pattern you put into the orbs that float to get either darkmon or chaosmon can't remember exactly it's been forever there is also one in the ice dungeon place.
Casp also in the final area there is a room using the puzzle Ruby things to get wargreymon x you use the Gen puzzles to also get Omnimon I believe
Oh shit. I don't remember doing that! I must've missed it.
In the cave mission (third mission i think) there's a secret room, where you talk to some villager then you start fighting new bosses and old ones. I don't remember well
also the game has a crossover story in cyber sleuth (probably)
It does?
Two in one is probably the wises course.
ye my boi
4:47 Yare Yare, what kind of alternate universe Jotaro is this?
His dolphin lust got the best of him, and after trying to merge his body with one, he became this. Better than a turtle, I guess.
I like your reviews very much. Always thought digimon rpg games are hard to swallow because of their faults. And here the random encounters are crap.
A lot of people have a go at me for pointing it out, but they're largely bad games. The new ones are great, but the older ones are largely forgotten for a reason!
The graphics looks exactly like Pokemon X & Y. What year is this?
They're definitely higher-res, and possibly higher-polygon than Pokemon X and Y, but far less stylized. This was a 2006 PS2 game.
These character designs seem very familiar, but why?
I actually liked this game. I give it an 8/10
Was there any reason in particular? I've not seen many people defend this one!
I didn't even know this game existed o_0
Me either. Some say I still don't.
I would kill for an action-RPG based on Savers. I wanna run around the Digital World as Masaru and punch the shit out of every Digimon I encounter.
After reviewing almost the entire Digimon series, I'd like to punch some Digimon too, my boy.
No mention of the fucking bizarre music when you fight Etemon? Is that the music of the cats fucking?
It might've been!
Any plans on mobile versions of Digimen?
It's a possibility! I've done one mobile game before, so it's not off the cards. Any mobile Digimon games worth playing though?
The only ones I know of that are published by Bandai Namco are Digimon LinkZ, which is like the DS game, only without the walking part and weird % system of getting digimons(japanese only =\), and Digimon Heroes, which is a card game...sorta? Idk xD On second thought, I guess you're better off reviewing the digi's fighting games ;P
When will you review digimon racing? or will you review the gba games in one video?
I don't really consider them 'real' games. They're hot trash, so I probably won't bother.
Casp O'saurus I will agree with that, how about the rumble arena series then? they are pretty cool.
I'm not great at formulating opinions on anything but RPGs, but I may at some point! I'd like to do the Card Battle PS1 game first. I love that shit.
I think its best to combine the videos, the two versions aren't really that different
That seems to be the way to go, hey.
My Digimon World: Dawn manual flat out states that Digimon is not a copy of Pokemon. Is it safe to assume my copy is a bootleg, or is that really an official thing?
Based on how many people still whip out their pocket/digital cocks, it's probably legit hey.
Lmao! The names 😂
Is it me or does Jerapilus look like Mt.Battle from Pokémon Gale of Darkness
A few other people have said that! I'm not too sure, I haven't played Gale of Darkness!
6:09 What’s a “keels”?
kegels. I'm Australian, and we like to drop sounds from words. :)
Lilithmon turning into a cute anime girl? Noi- I mean, uh, CALL THE FBI.
FATHER NOT AGAIN. SHE's 23 I SWEAR
"DIGIMON STEALS POKEMON!?!?"
But that's just a theory, my dude.
I'm glad youtube did something right for once! Thanks for the comment!
You forgot about that shity music it plays whenever you run into a edamon battle.
I know the game has a lot of 'design failures', still, weird enough; is one of my favorite exclusive PS2 titles.
You're a weird one, but I appreciate that.
I've never watched any of the anime, so I'm in the same boat, mate.
@@Caspicum far away, on the digital sea..
I have this game! I can't beat it. Fuck the loading, Fuck the Random Encounters. It's like 18 seconds to wait for every random encounter!
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Still waiting for the next digimon review
It's happening! I'm actually going to stream the start of it in about 2 hours!
Yeah, this game, bad. Will you be doing the Digimon Rumble Arena/Fighting games at some point?
Edit: Oh btw, you can press triangle to view your digimon health etc during those messy hexagon thing.
digimon adventure on psps?
maaaaaaaaybe
I WANT TO KNOW IF YOU PLAY DIGIMON WORD LOST EVOLUTION OF DS I WANT A REVIEW OF THAT
I MIGHT!
Well, at least you can still make a fun video from a bad game!
That's pretty much my life at this point, tbh.
