Ive got a 4080, i11, 64GB RAM - can run high settings and get 85 FPS in VR. Use TAA/FX Sharpening, antitropic x2, dynamic resolution ON, aggressive and min 50. If you put it up to 100 itll halve the FPS.
Why does all the VR footage I have seen to date for F1 24 look like the view from someone on LSD all stretched out in every direction? Are we looking at the monitor view here or the view in VR?
For some reason the devs have decided to render the preview window in a distorted format. I played around with adjusting it, but it looked worst. I have not found a decent work around as of yet. But I feel its visual look is representative of the experience 😅

It looks like you are playing on an HP reverb. I can't get F1 24 to run on it. F1 23 works fine. I get the opening screen, disclaimers, all the menus OK, but when I go to the cockpit view to actually play the game, it crashes and I get a message that Steam VR has encountered a critical error. Anybody have an idea? RTX 3070, intel i7 -12700, 32 gig ram. Thanks
Heya, 4090 and only medium settings on your setup, GRrrr as others and yourself has said, optimisation from the game developers need to be one of the final top priorities before releasing said game, I find this in every other game too.
It is quite frustrating. Turned it on expecting the 4090 to rip through it only to be met by frustration. I agree that developers need to get on top of this. The day one handling patch is also a perfect example of an unfinished product 🙄
The fact that they didn’t update the game to work with psvr2 just shows that they don’t invest enough in changing or improving the game every year. I think they know they have a solid fan base that will always buy the game, and are just not interested in significantly improving the game. Honestly it’s a sad truth for the majority of the games with yearly releases; specially coming from EA.
This really does seem like a missed opportunity. Particularly as this appears to be aimed mainly at the console market. I think you are right, they know they have a captive audience and the enthusiasm to make any clear upgrades to this title seem very limited. A yearly release cycle for this is ridiculous and most of these 'upgrades' could be released as DLC. I guess money talks 🤑
Having F1 23 and played that in VR it was pretty decent, but F1 24 is a step back dont know have the same settings as last year but i am not happy with it has that F1 22 VR feel , so not very positive . I have a 3080ti and also a i9 cpu but it seems not the pc or the headset its the game that makes it almost unplayeble. Your video shows a lot what is wrong with F1 24 in VR. In short is pretty blurry from 50m in front, it micro-stutters, on the grid, its not as it should be.
I agree with you completely. Definitley looks like the game and not the headset or the PC. Quite embarrassing really. I've just run a race on iRacing in VR and the difference was astounding. The draw distance which you mention is now particularly noticeable. This needs a fair bit of work I feel.
I also have a 3080 Ti. 22 ran great (Quest3, Virtual Desktop Godlike resolution, 72hz, ultra low ingame settings) an I was able to use OpenXR Toolkit to make it even better. In 23 they messed up the colors, the performance is much worse, but the BBF is great. In 24 the colors are back, the FFB is between 22 and 23 so a step back, OpenXR still not working, and dynamic resolution scaling is buggy, that worked really well in 23. Oh and in the 2D menus my GPU makes jet engine noises for some reason. The problem is they made the game with TAA in mind, so if you disable it in the xml the game becomes an oversharpened flickerhell, but if you use TAA it's too blurry and TAA is also very expensive. It seems no one who ever played any other VR game tested this in the last 3 years at EA. I was able to fix a similar problem in ACC with using only mid TAA, but this game doesn't have multiple levels of AA just the super blurry and expensive one-.- In KartKraft FSR1 + ingame supersampling helped by upscaling the image to 200% resolution, it removed the jaggies and resulted in a smear free clear image but this game doesn't have FSR1 so that's not an option either. So you have to use TAA without sharpening until your eyes get used to the blurryness or edit the xml and disable TAA and spend the saved performance on supersampling to make it better and wait until your eyes get used to the oversharpened image. I used the second option before uninstalled this piece of crap.
It really is a bit of a mess at the moment. It seems you have been working over time to try and get this right. I imagine many will be going the uninstall route.
Hello man, thx for this interesting vid ;-) Actually it's not answering to my questions. As i wanted to know if there's an improvement comparing to the F1 23 VR. EA and Codemasters said few weeks ago that they took the VR mode in consideration ... but what i'm hearing from reviewers is not encouraging. They are saying that it's the same VR quality, i even heard Worst🥶. I was about to buy the 24 only for the VR improvement but i suddenly hit the brake hardly 😌
You are most welcome 👍🏻 I have limited experience with F1 23 VR, however the reports I am getting back would indicate that it is not running as well. I am not very happy with how F1 24 is currently running and I feel there is some work to be done with regards optimisation. I would hold off until they patch it personally.
@johnn1474 🤣🤣🤣 CPU upgrade coming at some point 🤣 Other titles have no problem. I think this is just a case of rubbish optimisation on F1 24's part. There were similar issues with F1 23 with some reporting it unplayable 🫠

I used to play Automobilista 3 or 4 years ago on Vr and that looked way better than this. EA need to get their sh** together and do a reasonable job at least. Hope there isn't a monopoly for F1 official game.
AMS2 is outstanding in VR. I would definitely recommend a revisit. EA have not made any significant advancements here in years. The lack of triple support is embarrassing. I hope the F1 license goes to someone else so they can do it justice. Although I fear EA have very deep pockets.
