      You can thank our government for that. Today cars are legally required to have a ridiculous amount of electronics and safety features in them to be sold in the us (and definitely not so the government has an easier time invading our privacy on the road).

      @@evanperrine5973 Ummm…cars are safer than they have ever been because of regulations which is a good thing even if you don’t realize it. You were probably just trolling with that comment though & I just didn’t recognize it brah 🤔

      @@juansaladzar Safer? They’re also completely unaffordable lol. Your need to have them be so overloaded with safety features (which aren’t even effective aside from a head on collision with a car of smaller or similar size) is making it impossible for the people who need those cars to get them in the first place. You might as well also require that people walk around outside in full body kevlar because what if they get shot at by a criminal? We can think up remedies to what-if scenarios all day till we’re drowning in them.

    These 80's Toyotas & 80's Ford Rangers were excellent rigs. Simple and rugged..

    • @4by_yotaguy373
      @4by_yotaguy373 Рік тому

      The Ford Rangers are often overlooked cause they're gutless and kind of ugly, but I had a 85 Bronco 2 4wd way back in 2001 and it was a blast! I'm not a Ford fan but I had a lot of cheap fun with that.

    • @brightondale72
      @brightondale72 5 місяців тому

      @@4by_yotaguy373 80s and 90s Rangers have weak transmissions and differentials. Cracked gears and gears that lose their teeth are common. I had an 87 Ranger 4x4. It was a fun truck while it lasted.
      Problem with old Toyotas like this was always the rust. My dad had a 79 Toyota 4WD Pickup just like this. After only about 10 years of slushing through Michigan snow and salt, it was a mess. Toyotas from this time were know to keep on driving but the body panels looked like they were going to fall off. The truck was given away and the recipient had to create a new floor panel so he used a stop sign but the drivetrain was fine.

    All hail the 22R! I had one of these trucks (82 model) in the late 80s... ran the thing for 4 months without oil while overloading it almost daily for my construction job. I was young, oops on the oil thing but the engine was fine. I guess oil is optional with these...LOL

      No.
      I have an '83 Toyota 4WD, SR-5 Longbed.
      Added 4.5" Superlift front springs, 4" Skyjacker rear lift springs,
      Drop steering drag link, I rebuilt the 22R motor, added a mild cam, progressive weber carb.
      Had a Transmission Shop rebuild the transmission.
      15x10" Enkei aluminum rims, 33x12.50x15" Goodyear MTR Mud Terrain Radials.
      Truck is very dependable and solid.
      Maybe only gripe is not a high horsepower motor, but simple, and reliable.
      From 1986 on, they dropped the tough straight front axle for Independent front.
      Lost the ruggedness right there.
