We are Reanne and Ben living in Portsmouth, England. We have been together from the age of 15.
We brought our first house together at 23, got married at 25 and Reanne started her own business at 27.
We have been wanting to travel the world for the last couple of year but covid put a stop to it.
The day has finally come we have sold our business and packed everything we own into storage, rented our house to explore as much of the world as we can in one year.

I've been to Cambodia via the Sa Kaeo side. While standing in line for immigration Government officials forced me to pay $5 as a fee. In fact, I didn't have to pay and it was clearly written on the checkpoint. But there are many officials who make money this way. If you think it's safe there, you're wrong. Because even the officials themselves are still cheaters.
Exactly the same happened to us it’s clearly written with no fee. Read into it turns out it’s a bribe.
Cambodian officials demanded bribes even though we had done nothing wrong.
You know what, I really respect the several Cambodians in the comment section who show their sympathy and apologize instead of making an excuse or hateful speech.
Same I respect that also and we’re not here to make the country look bad we’re just sharing our experience so people are aware and this stuff does not happen

I'm from England and have been Iiving in Cambodia for over 6 months now and I find it much more safer then back home. I think people should take the chance and really explore the place and don't just take people's word on it.
Don’t dispute that mate I feel safer walking through Cambodia at night than most places in the U.K. but then in Cambodia there no way you could get your phone out and check your map or take a picture without the risk of it being stolen I feel the likelihood of that is much higher aswell as almost everyone trying to over charge you for almost everything but it is what it is.

PassApp gives you the license plate number of your driver. We always check to make sure it is the correct one before getting in. Sorry you had to learn the hard way and I hope your video helps people avoid this if they visit in the future.
We normally do but we just took his word for it. Man’s a clown trying to scare tourists. And get more money out of us. Disgusting i hope he see this and feels shame and embarrassment

Nonetheless, Cambodia business formality, you paid just what had being agree upon before the work started. They cannot charge extra like the West business culture. In here, one time I brought my car to have tires replace. Then I saw $50 re-freon my aircon. I got a phone call asked me permission to replace filter for another $15. When I picked up, the bill was over than $1500. I took to Small Claims Court, I lost. Because that business showed the Court the parts they allegedly replaced. I learnt in the hard way that, as long as they changed parts that relevance to the repair, they aren't scam. Back in Cambodia, I had my bike rebuilt. They estimated $150. When I pickup, I had a feeling of that guy felt a bit sad. When I asked, he said he lost over than $100 on parts to rebuild my bike because of he was under estimated the job to be done.

I visited seamreap and Phnom Penh in 2017. We went in a group, the guide was Cambodian so we didn't have as much trouble as you guys. The local Cambodians are very friendly, hope you will visit Vietnam in the future, it's my country. Wishing you good health and safe travel.

Thailand has scams, too, but nothing compares to what you experienced in Cambodia. It's moving ahead to the next level of scams, which appear rather intimidating. Why do they damage their opportunities to make money in the long run?

sorry you had an unfortunate experience. I've been living in Phnom Penh almost 8 years. Until the arrival of ride hailing apps, misunderstanding were common. Literacy levels are also very low in the generation of your driver, so maps, Street names and numbers are of little to no help. Many have no income for a couple of years and at best make very little. People are trying to survive.
Also, I've not used cash here in several years, all transactions with card and QR which is very effective and available everywhere. Im surprised at your assertion of "no cards".

As a local I’m very sorry for what happen to you two, I saw some of your video and you guy either get scammed or robbed in my country that make me sad and angry of those peoples, some of those Tuk Tuk driver always take advantage from foreigners sometimes even local peoples and overcharged from what show in the app, I recommend you using grab since it much cleaner then pass app and you can alway check their plate number on the app and filed a complaint to the company, also never ride on tuk tuk if you don’t use the app they mostly are try to overcharged you , you can always check where you going in the app if you not sure, anyway thank you for your guy coming to my country very sorry for bad things happen to you guy.
It’s ok most thing where fine but we seem to have some really bad luck with the pass app so I think we won’t be using that again but for every bad experience there are good one thank you for having us in your wonderful country ❤️

Wow 😮 I’m in Siem Reap Cambodia 🇰🇭 and it’s really nice. I flew in and it’s a nice little airport. The hotel had a Tuktuk pick me up. The driver had a paper with my name on it. I’ve rented a motorcycle to get around. I never used Passapp but I see a lot of people using it. Of course there’s a lot of Tuktuk drivers around and they all want your business. I have used Tuktuk a few times and always agree on the price and destination before getting in. Also I get my hotel to arrange things whenever I need help because of the language challenges

We have travelled all over SE Asia and these scams are everywhere not just in Cambodia. Well at least it will help you get subs, who it seems have a deep hatred for Cambodia. Which is evident by some of the highly offensive and demeaning comments.

I have been living in Cambodia for a while now. And trust me ive been through worst scams than this. But just a piece of advice. You could've navigated the driver instead of showing him the map. Coz their maps are in khmer and they can't really read English map. He was trying to help but couldn't.

Tuktuk is a Thai word . The cars look similar but not Tuktuk, But ! Some Drivers beheve similar.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences with moto drivers in Cambodia, I wouldn’t use that app , looks like it’s just hassle, we choose drivers based on their grasp of English , it’s just much easier , it’s not like you can never find one when you want it . 👍
Nothing but problems blunder so far the app terrible but the drivers using it are not up to much either in our experience

This was totally your fault. Check the plate number, and make sure you get into the correct tuk tuk. Would you randomly get into an Uber back home without making sure that it's yours? Hello it was a extremely educational Vlog on how not to travel. I've used pass app in Cambodia and a child could use it. Unfortunately the D's didn't check the number on the pass app to the number on their phone's app, so got in a random tuktuk. There pass app driver was ringing them as they must have moved away from there pick up point. There is a icon of you and the driver, it's very simple. Even when they were 'Robbed' pass app found the driver and he explained he had their change and would return it (strange thing for a robber to do?). But the D's refused and blamed pass app....
Big tip, have change and don't give a 50k note for a 7k ride. Otherwise the drive will have to find someone who had change which wastes the drivers time.

I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I took a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya some years back; I speak fluent Thai and the price was agreed upon beforehand. When we arrived at the hotel the driver wanted 100 Bhat more then we agreed on. When I refused, he walked into the lobby and started screaming and actually kicked our luggage. I still didn't pay. He left cursing at me. The hotel staff just stood there; I think they were actually afraid. I really thought that he would be waiting for us outside with a gun. I have also met a Thai who I didn't even know insist I take a Tuk Tuk when he saw me walking down the street, and paid the driver in advance to take me to my location. When I tried to give him the money back he refused. Every country has their good, their bad, and their in-between.
I support your comment, anything have their own good and flaw, I myself a Cambodian couldn’t agree more and also feel bad about my own people, because of the behavior from some of them make my country feel like nothing worthy for tourists anymore, to be honest, I’m kinda scared sometimes to think in the future if some people still keep on doing this bad greedy behavior, my country won’t have anyone come to visit anymore.

I used to work in a hotel in Bangkok, and these types of arguments between taxi drivers and hotel guests would come by on occasion. As per hotel policy, the front office manager and chief security officer will try to resolve the issue by assisting our guests. The police will be called if taxi drivers continue to intimidate. We can report it to the Transportation Association for punishment.

Could you please tell me reason why did the tuk tuk driver scam you guys? I think he didn't scare you guys, but maybe he didn't get the proper fee from you and he was also tired to follow you.
Said he was our pass app driver drove the 7500 riel fare pretended to get lost dropped us off at the wrong place gave him 10,000 and he demanded more money he’s a con man stop embarrassing yourself by defending people who make your country look bad.

In the video it's clear that the tuk-tuk driver is not delivering to the correct destination. Is that the mission that he fails to accomplish? Even with a map but can't get to the destination, what is it?

Gave him $2.50 it was 50% more than it should of been and he still wants more like tourists are a ATM a tuktuk has an 11 litre engine 15 minute trip would cost no more than $ 0.20. Not had this issue any other country Sri Lanka has a fuel crisis and they still wanted to give me fair prices! Think there’s just a difference in the levels of respect

He was trying to get you to your destination, but he wasn't familiar with the area. Due to this difficulty of getting you to the destination, he was asking for a little bit more money from you. He wasn't trying to scam. He was trying to get paid when he showed up in the hotel's lobby because you cheated him out of money. He left without getting paid.
He told us he was are driver if he was the location is in the app with the fair total. He didn’t want to take the fair he only took us the wrong way because he lied to get us in his car. Don’t get this anywhere else but Cambodia it’s not good and we’re raising awareness so it’s stopped

She said the train ride was boring, you should enjoy the view, the slowness of life, the culture different. I think she's too young to really enjoy travelling.

So first of all Their video about traveling in Cambodia seem to show people how bad Cambodia is. I mean, I've been in Cambodia for 3 months until now for UN volunteer and also travel at the same time but seem didn't have any trouble.

I rarely comment on any video and i respect people opinion but at the beginning (0:40) of the video you said everything here is cash only and not accepting card payment is completely false. Card payment is accepted with supermarkets and restaurants that have a POS machine (may be not widely used as it was in modernized countries). Pos machine incurred cost so QR scan is used instead and QR is much more convenient. If you had a bank account you can just scan and pay. QR is everywhere and worked across mobile banking applications with centralized block chain system. Banking industry here is becoming very digitalized. some very local market and stall may only accept cash because most of them are old and cannot use and understand banking application beside that i think a-lot of peoples had at least an ABA app and QR where you can just conveniently scan and pay. From my point of view, saying something without a proper research is very wrong and continue to spread mis-information about a country leading to mis-understanding about the country itself which can negatively impact the country reputation.
Sorry for your bad experience here. i myself as a Cambodian get scammed occasionally by Cambodian too Lol. I have to be smart especially having a tuk tuk or taxi ride. Ask for the price first and bargaining for good price at local stall ect… This is just a thing in Cambodia. I hope you can understand that this is still a poor developing country where people try to feed themselves and the family.
I sometime realized that i was overcharged by several dollar and felt very dumb. but i took a second thought that they were poor so i just considered as if i was handed that money out and help the poor.

Hello it's not scary at all, we have lived here for 2 years and love it. These people were here for 2 weeks and honestly acted like they had never traveled before.
There are good and bad people in every country and a few bad experiences shouldn't taint a whole country. That would be a reckless comment as thousands of people rely on tourism to feed their families.
Spent two months in Cambodia, never had a serious problem at all. Maybe because I travel minimalist with just a 21 litre bag and little cross body sling bag, learned a few everyday words in the language, and I don’t dress like a tourist.
When you stick out as an obvious tourist and have a language barrier and react like the locals are beneath you…you can expect problems,

It's all for Clickbait and partly their total lack of travel knowledge. Pass app is so easy but they can't seem to work it out, the app tells you what number your driver is. Getting into a random tuktuk at a train station any where in the world is always going to end badly, that's beginner stuff.
Also they seem so angry and annoying at everything, even the train was too small.
@@BIGJED75 yup, I noticed that they are angry and complaining in everything. They always had a negative comments. As a traveller we can expect that good or bad things can happen. They dont look happy in what they are doing. They don’t see the struggles of other people who is poor than them. They are more focus in thinking that people are scamming them all the time. We are in holiday in Cambodia and we give 10 bucks tip to our driver because we see him how hard his life than us and he work hard to survive. We don’t tip everyday only on some deserving occassions. But we learn to be happy and smile in our holiday time. We don’t go for holiday if we don’t save for it, and if we want comfortable journey we rent car to look around in different places,it is my opinion. I just dont like her complaining all the time and unhappy.
I can’t say that everything has been perfect but I’m in Cambodia 🇰🇭 now and it’s great 👍 the people are really nice. Touch wood I haven’t been scammed. Actually everything is quite cheap compared to other countries. I can recommend going to Siem Reap. It’s really nice and they treat tourists very well. I took a flight here because I know the infrastructure is not good and trains and buses are not wonderful

I have heard Siem Reap is cheaper, but sadly the pay is a lot worse in Siem Reap for teachers. Pnom penh is where you make the money!

Example tuk tuk of Cambodia 1km price 2700 riel for Khmer nation and some time 1$ for foreingner, because Cambodian support ours nation GDP Per Capital. Not know everything a bout Cambodia but trying look cheap Cambodia and People.
He tried to charge me 20,000 riel for 2.5km mans is a total scammer making the country look bad

I've had those situations happen before, I use TADA now which is run by the company UBER. Passapp is appalling and some drivers are downright dangerous.

@@OTWD_yt if you ever come back, TADA is the one to download. I booked 3 drivers today and just superb. Must be in their training plus it's part of UBER INTERNATIONAL. Passapp is what the Khmers predominantly use and have such an appalling record.
