China's state-owned grain companies will carry out large-scale overseas purchases of daily necessities that are overpriced in the catalogue, and then put them on the domestic market at low prices to lower prices. This is the basic function of a socialist country.

Prices in China are 5-7 times cheaper than in the US, I really feel that industrial goods and daily necessities are more than 10 times cheaper than in the US, although the median monthly salary in China is only about $1000, it is actually equivalent to $5000 a month in the US, which is something Western media never tells you. For example, an electric car only needs $10,000 in China and $80,000 in the United States, which is how the inflated GDP of the United States comes from, plus the crazy superposition of various prices

The monthly salary is not that high, the average is about 800 US dollars a month, of course, there are a few people who earn less. As for electric cars, the cheapest one is only more than 5,000 US dollars, which is a small two-seater car, and the more popular electric cars are about 15,000 US dollars. Another point is that China's various taxes are relatively low. The property tax is a one-time 4% of the total house price, and it does not need to be paid monthly. Student tuition loans are generally tax-free, and only bank loans have higher taxes.

Price is relative depending on where you spend it: Western brand products will cost relatively high, and Chinese brand products will be low; hence Luckin Coffee is now bigger than Starbucks in China because they are way cheaper and have a lot more varieties, the iPhone which was once number 1 in China now has gone below the top 3. So if you live like the local things will be really cheap. And let's not even talk about the infrastructure, the subway, the high-speed train network, how affordable it is.

Welcome to my hometown! Your travel videos show real experience and feelings. I think it's actually quite nice to speak your mind, for example, about OPPO-some comments mentioned that OPPO doesn't copy Apple. You presented the genuine impressions that Westerners have of China and welcomed discussions in the comments. If everything was mindlessly described as "amazing", how would that be any different from the 'Orientalism' of a few centuries ago, where Europeans described the East as mysterious, beautiful, and static, putting their own impressions and interpretation on it? I studied Sanskrit as my BA major and I'm fully aware of the danger of that. But this is somewhat off-topic.
And you went to Laojia Roubing(老家肉饼 homestyle meat pie)! I'm not sure where is it come from, but it's definitely one of my childhood memories. I can't say they make the best meat pie(the best is from my grandma!) but it's convenient to get some good food there and the price is not expensive. Well now I'm studying in Germany. The imported chips like Doritos or Cheetos are always more expensive. The imported beers are double the local beers, but the alcohol content is also different as the local beers are 3% roughly so you can drink away without getting hammered easily. 🤗

Beijing's subway used to be cheaper, costing about $0.3 regardless of the distance. However, other cities were not the same; for instance, Shanghai charges based on distance (approximately $0.8 for 25 kilometers, with an additional $0.15 for every 10 kilometers thereafter). Overall, Beijing is still much cheaper, with even the longest journeys costing around $1. Shanghai, on the other hand, offers a one-day pass for $2.5, allowing unlimited rides within 24 hours, and a three-day pass for around $7, allowing unlimited rides within three days. In Beijing, taxis start at $1.8, with an additional $0.3 per kilometer after the first 4 kilometers.
