      Oh mate she’s been a journey… I can’t believe the beautiful loom that Pete did… he inspected every single wire in the loom and replaced every questionable wire then re wrapped the loom in the stock factory fabric tape. He even took off the manufacturer’s stickers and put them onto the new loom.

      @@BoyAnachronism01 I’ve followed Peter for quite a few years now, he’s a perfectionist, too. You make an interesting team. He led me to your channel via that beautiful upholstery work you did for him. That’s such a skill, my late father learned it so he could reupholster the seats in the country theatre he managed when the local hoods would slash them for fun on Saturday nights. I still have a few chairs he restored for me. Done the right way with webbing and tacks. No staples for him. Sorry to ramble, watching your work takes me back. Best wishes.

      @BoyAnachronism01  Рік тому

      Thanks Phillip.. yes I agree. Hey so the next video is ready to edit… I’m just time poor at the moment. It was a grueling one to film because it’s exclusively me pulling the entire dash and A/C out of my donor ZG Fairlane… as you know already I’m missing all of the fasteners and bits and pieces to install the dash so I was forced to plunder the donor. I wanted to shoot the vid in sequence to use as a reference and guide to an accurate installation. It won’t be very riveting viewing but for me (given that my memory is failing) it’s a perfect vlog to refer back to.
      Thanks for the message and support mate.

    I had a white zf with a black vinyl roof, 302, c4, four barrel, extractors, dual exhaust and centreline wheels. We used to put 4 surfboards in the boot and go down the south coast surfing. I used to drift it sideways down some of the dirt roads. One of the best cars I ever had.

    That car has come out beautiful mate, excellent work. These cars would probably last forever if they used the coatings and sealants of today. But true ,you never see underneath. You have done some of the best work ive seen.

    • @BoyAnachronism01
      @BoyAnachronism01  Рік тому

      Interestingly Peter it because all throughout the build I haven’t known how to do thing so I’ve had to research best practice and then experiment and self teach. Because anything automotive isn’t really in my DNA I’ve really had to approach it more as a sculpture or work of art than a resto. I think in years to come, long after I’m dead and gone, the video series will be as important to the eventual custodian of the car as the car is itself.
      Thanks for hanging in there and accompanying me on the journey and for the words of advice and encouragement. Without that, it makes it more difficult to remain motivated. Hope all is well with you.

      Had to watch it again, wife is a Chevrolet nut and even she said it's beautiful. Her 67 impala had a badly rusted out plenum. They glued bits of tin and fibreglassed over it all. Car looked nice but was a wreck in every way. Fully restored they said ha,ha, Never send your idiot father in law to look at a car. Nearly finished it but what a mess . Can't believe I sold a good Cl regal se to get this thing . 26k for a wreck . Could have bought a good fairlane in reasonable condition with a Cleveland to. I'm a Mopar fan but the Cleveland is a fantastic engine. Enjoy the beast Jason , not many good ones like this around.

    with the latch panel itself (black one) i'd wait until the engine, trans and axles are on and the car is sitting on all fours, i've seen a few times with other makes of cars the flex in the shell between empty and fully loaded does throw out those gaps and adjustments, caught me out once, never again
    i fitted and ligned up the panels all perfect and had all the fittings and rubbers in etc, bonnet closed with a nice gentle press, once the engine etc went back in it was out by 5mm
    if the pin is still too long tap some threads down the pin further but make sure to cut off the end of the pin that goes into the bonnet, it may be just a dogs fart away from the skin and a drop shut could dent it.
    polishing the super fine scratches out, i like 3m hologram remover, part of the perfect it line, think it was perfect it III last time i used it, blue top one, also in a shop the scratches look terrible, once outside you wont see them at all
    i used to do my undersides in black but these days i much prefer the underside in stonegaurd then body colour in gloss, the dirt wont stick to that if it does it rinses off very easy, with shultz and oils the dirt sticks to it then the water soaks into the dirt
    when doing a full resto, i always fit up the entire outside, lights bumpers etc on the last primer job so i know its all going to fit after its painted, door boot and any bonnet rubbers too, don't want any supprises after its painted, door rubbers make a big difference on alot of cars, i start putting those on to check at the weld up stages
