I love Stark! With just 2 episodes he became my favorite character and that's very hard to pull off with a character just being introduced. The fact that Eisen, someone who helped to defeat the demon king, was scared of him says a lot about his potential to surpass his master. The dragon fight is one of the best animation this year! I'm sure my boy Stark is a grower and not a shower and Fern probably thinks dicks always stay small. This is my anime of the year after this episode.
@N74.Joseph nah, dick jokes and shaming is super acceptable in western shows. The issue is that it is the ONLY kind of joke of its type that is allowed lol
Ahh this episode. The episode itself was storyboarded and directed by Toru Iwazawa, who has never directed any TV episodes. It also had Yutaka Nakamura, who is studio Bones star animator and regarded as the best action animator ever, people even call him "Grandmaster" of action animation. Not to mention the minor pop off by JJK s1 animators Tatsuya Yoshihara, TNK and Keiichro Watanabe. Even more so they had One piece's main animator Chris. Over all, incredible production value and team-up legends
The animation when Stark was battling the dragon was peak. The way it was so smooth and fluid was just beautiful to witness. I think Stark is not only going to level up to his master's belief in him. But surpass his expectations. I can't wait to see it.
It won't be explained in the show but what happened was that Eisen was sparring with Stark and the kid pulled some awesome move that startled Eisen and he reacted on reflex trying to defend himself and he overdid it by accident and hurt him. That's what he meant by saying he was afraid of him in that moment.
9:34 Hands down the BEST reaction to that scene! I've watched some reactors who didn't even blink an eye (as I guess they didn't get what Fren meant by, "So small").
Eisen was afraid and reacted instinctively simply because he was in fear of his life. Stark is one of those who's a lot stronger than he realizes, just lacking confidence and experience. He's to Frieren what Gobta is to Rimuru, just better looking.
Naruto had so many flash backs that I rolled my eyes whenever that white screen before a backstory comes on but this is the only anime that made me want more flash backs, they're always a welcome delight knowing more about the old party and they actually have an impact per episode.
this is because Frieren flashbacks are canon in manga and are NEW SCENES, Naruto and a bunch others animes flashback are just a reminder of older scenes for TV schedule
the moment i saw stark split that wall cliff on the previews episode i was like this boy is strong he just lack confidence and the knowledge that fear isn't a bad thing
I hv to mention this for my guy stark... later in the ep he mentioned how the desert used to look much bigger when he was younger... same w fern who was caring for the elder Heiter she possibly most likely saw something when she was younger and shit nevermind 😂😂
Dwarfs Life Span is up towards "250 years" so there might be some 20-50 some years left for Eisen to be alive....but 250 years is not a 100% guarantee for all Dwarfs to live that long.....i have a strange feeling that when they finally reach the place where one can speak with the Dead Eisen's Spirit will be there that way all of the OG Hero's party will be there so that Stark and Fran can say their goodbyes and Frieren can have closer with them all but mainly towards Himmel...but i have a feeling that there are also going to be bonus spirits that has meaning to Fran and Stark for them both to see and talk too. so be sure to have tissues on standby for the moment they reach their goal.
It's kinda sad the anime didn't show it but in the manga, Stark was getting up during the argument, he had his hand in a fist and drawn to have some sort of ominous aura. Didn't seem like he was going for a punch, but I guess that's what triggered Eisen's "reflex".
This show is just such a blessing. Honestly even non-anime fans would love it. It's just...such a feel good anime that reminds me a lot of LOTR, Warcraft, Mushoku, and honestly a plethora of other things. It has such an 'original' feel to it, it isn't a copy paste take on the fantasy anime genre, but it does make me feel nostalgic of things like Lord of the Rings or the sort. I love it.
The Dragon could inherently sense how strong Stark actually is and decided not to take the chance in fighting him. Also, someone pointed out, in the comments on CrunchyRoll, that the Dragon Fight Sequence actually took 30 seconds. I haven't actually looked, but it felt like 30 seconds.
Frieren animation is insane. That dragon fight scene is 100% hand drawn, while there are a lot of popular anime that use 3DCGI for animating such a complex picture/object shape
When Fern calls Stark small, and Stark insists he's not, it probably means she's comparing him to someone really big, and the only person she likely compares him to is Heiter. 😂
"Being afraid isn't a bad thing. It's my fear that brought me this far."
Eisen's lines alone could cleave mountains.
Poor Stark he didn't deserve that.
Frieren: "Fern, we're going to play tag with the dragon."
Fern: "Relationship with Frieren ended, this tree is now my new grandma."
Stark's a grower, not a shower!
Just like his confidence lol

Awww. I loved Morgan with the (I’m assuming) Skyrim reference with her “What, no dragons scales?”

Eisen saw how strong stark was that he wasn't able to hold back during a training session as he was so "scared" of him.
Stark passed the salt to Eisen a little too hard 😂

Fun fact if you actually time the fight with the dragon right after Eisen's flashback talk, it is *exactly* 30 seconds long.

That wasnt a stray bullet, that was extremely targeted.
