Can never get enough of T.R.O.Y that is legendary
Such a great track
Facts. Love that track!
Always loved that Jazzy feel of 1990s tracks thanks to guys like Q-Tip, Large Pro, Premier and many others, whenever I hear those songs It instantly takes me back to my childhood! Thanks!
Yeah I agree. Some of the best producers going.
Lord Finesse!!!
Samples go hard, but that thumbnail is crazy 😂
Definitely a crazy picture 🤣
Furio Never Misses FR
Appreciate it. Thanks
I second that Macaveli.
Furio I tell you thanks time and time again so that you get ya flowers while you still here 🤝
Great to hear. Thanks.
to me , horns sounds always make a rap record sound epic
Yes they can really make a track sound amazing.
Love this series! I recently got one of your videos recommended to me, and now I've been bingeing them.
That’s great to hear. Glad you’re enjoying them. Thanks.
These are fantastic. Love the random clips of people dancing. Great work Furio
Glad you like it.
Man, i am so HAPPY i found your channel! Thank you for all the work!!!
Appreciate it and good to hear you’re liking my videos. Thanks for watching.
More real life videos of you scratching samples would be great! I would love to see that! :)
I might have a think about some that could work well demonstrating them like I did with the Gang Starr track. Any suggestions of any that come to mind?
I’ve done a few short videos of me scratching some famous lines from hip hop too. Just click the Shorts tab to check them. I also did DJ Premier scratches here ua-cam.com/video/yRMPyHODJfA/v-deo.html
i couldn't agree more. i haven't a single fucking clue how ANY of that works.
8:45 Awesome clip - my favourite film 'the wickerman' !!!
Classic film
Great tunes and visuals. Blasts from the past all round!
Glad you like it. Thanks.
Damn, lotta Kool and the Gang samples. I had no idea!
Yeah they have been sampled a lot
love your videos, gotta know where these clips are from with the guy with the weird mask face, look so familiar
An old tv show called Bo Selecta
As soon as the first clip was from Big Train I knew I would love this video
Haha yeah. Great TV show
Wait what episode was it?
greetings from Greece, thanks for the great video, keep up the great work
Appreciate it. Thanks.
J.cole on fela's water no get enemy is another fire sample
That east coast flava!
Excellent video! Only thing missing is Steve Biko by ATCQ
Lots more that could have been included yes.
🔥
The last one also Apollo Brown & Guilty Simpson - The Cook Up
That’s a great album
Top album. ✌
Didn't realise how many kool and the gang samples there were.
I made a sample video about them a while ago ua-cam.com/video/SS5xXj1Rzlw/v-deo.html
great video as always.
btw, maybe you can do the best vocal samples in hip hop? that would be dope
Glad you like the video. I was thinking about vocals myself. You’ve read my mind. Either that or strings.
i concur
Two of favourite things. Hip hop and British comedy clips👌🏾
Glad you like the video. Thanks.
intresting thanks dj furio
Thanks for watching.
Great work once again 🙏🔥💯💯
Appreciate it. Thanks
Another great selection. Honourable mention: Nine (ft Smoothe da Hustler) "Make or take" = Ronnie Laws, "Just as you are."
I don’t think I’ve ever heard that track before. I will give it a check. I had about another 30 tracks on a list I made before starting but there were just too many to include into 1 video.
@@DJFurio "Cloud 9" is a great album from '96.
I will have a check of it
Great Video 👍 i just feel like Camp lo - Lucini should be in there. But i know there is so many good horn samples that its hard to choose
Thanks for watching. I showed that sample really recently in my 1996 video so I didn’t want to show it again so soon.
the british comedy bits makes this hit in a way I never thought possible, currently rerinsing these constantly Cheers
Haha thanks. Glad you like it.
I love that Eddie Russ/Pharcyde joint
Yeah both great tracks
The first song I thought of was the intro, man I LOVE that sample so much
The Pete Rock track? It’s always the first one I think of when thinking about horns used in hip hop tracks.
@@DJFurio Yeah, pete rock is such an underrated producer. Do you know by chance if the chop in the verses is the same sample or if its from another record?
It’s all from the same record. I would definitely have a listen to the original and I’m sure you’ll recognise the parts that were used.
@@DJFurio bet, thanks 👍
nah that thumbnail is wild 💀
Is really is 🤣
Your videos are God-tier! Thanks, now let the Binge watching begin...
Great to hear. Thanks and I hope you enjoy.
One song that uses horn samples that I really love is Sons of 3rd Bass by 3rd Bass
Tonights da night is so good🥰🥰
Yeah definitely a great track
Honestly surprised someone sampled Lil' Darlin and managed to make it not sleep-inducing
I'm also surprised at how many Herb Alpert tracks have been sampled
Yeah Preemo flipped that Lil’ Darling track really well
man i love these breakdowns. they answer so many long asked questions. what i REALLY am enjoying now is seeing how dj stuff works. showing us how that one sample was pitch shifted by mere finger manipulation AND what even the hell some of those buttons and knobs do is refreshing. it's all absolutely alien to me.
I’m glad you like it. All I was doing with the turntable was changing it between 33 and 45 RPM by pressing the 2 buttons on the Technics. This gives it a higher or lower pitch to the sound.
On my DJ mixer I was cutting the sound in and out at the same time using the crossfader.
Nice cover of the Premo scratches 👌
Thanks
never thought or seen anyone come close but you're right there Big 👍 up !
@anthonypetty2880 appreciate it. Thanks
Can’t forget the Beatnuts Psycho Dwarf sample of Woody Shaw New World… ✌🏽
Filthy!! Love it!! Love these sample hunt videos
Appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
@DJFurio what's the name of the karate flick at 10:33. Cool clip.
Not too sure. It’s actually what the music video shows for the track.
Okay I found it , it's called Fists of the white Lotus
Ok great
Number one horn sample Pete Rock Reminisce
That’s why I had to show it first. Great track
Dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for watching
Butter/Gary Bartz sample to cuz...well...ATCQ did a wonderful thing with that one.💪🏾🖤
Yeah I did a full breakdown of The Low End Theory many years ago and I showed that sample on there.
@@DJFurio seems like I have a lot of videos to catch up on then! 😁
Damn... One of your best videos!!!
Glad you like it. Thanks.
Very cool video.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
Troy is definitely Number one
Great track. I had to show it first.
It was interesting, again👍
Glad you like it. Thanks
Love these horns almost as much as i love a chippy ^^
Ooh I do like a chippy even now and then
@DJ Furio plenty of Bob alt and vinegar and plenty on with the mushy peas and scraps 😂
And some free fish bits 🤣
🔥 Pete rock and Cl dope. Rakim video clip 😂 Good to see Redman and MOP. And Mr. Motivator clip class. And Pharcyde clip.😂 Black Sheep 😂. Good to see old school Fat Joe. The Little Britain clips are ace. And the Shooting Stars clips are top too. Dove from above 😂😂 quality video ✌
Glad you like the vid. It might end up being one of my last for a while. Dove from above 👍
@@DJFurio gutted. 😢 hope not. ✌
Me too. I love spending my time putting these videos together.
Dope content as usual bro, but yo lol who is the, cat with all the parody masks in this series? Is that a show, I slept on or a UA-cam comedian?
It was a really weird comedy TV show called Bo Selecta from about 20 years ago. He did parodies of all these famous people that were nothing like them at all and really stupid.
My favourite video yet! Luv brooooo
Glad you like it. Thanks.
Gold!
2:35 Marva Whitney - Unwind Yourself was also used in DJ Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat which has always been my favorite use of the sample.
Kind of. It actually sampled the 45 King track
@@DJFurio Didn't realize that. Any reason they sampled the sample instead of the original? Or is that a lost story.
I’m not sure but it’s a direct lift from 45 King including the drums
@@DJFurio Interesting. I wonder if it was to speed up or ease the production time for the track. Thanks for the info, I learned more today than I expected.
I’m not sure if the reasons behind it. Probably easier to get clearance for sampling a hip hop track I guess.
A lot of nightmare fuel visuals going on in this video lol.
Haha yes definitely some odd visuals going on in this one
Im looking for a trumpet or brass song thats got heavy as horns was a soundtrack for fightnight the boxing game do you have any idea what song im seraching For g
Not a game I’ve ever played sorry.
Whose the guy with all those masks on lol that Michael Jackson mask cracked me up
Haha yes. It’s an old tv show called Bo Selecta. Very weird but funny
@@DJFurio lol thanks I'll have to check it out
Yeah the MJ character just does lots of swearing. Crazy show.
Great Furio!
Glad you like it. Thanks.
Very nice. And you got the scratch routine very well too 💪💪
Appreciate it. Thanks.
KEEP GOING!!!🌞
Thanks for watching.
More please
Thanks for watching
Violins has to be next ..
Yeah String instruments will be soon. I just need a little break as this one took about 2 days solid to put together.
*best dj premier horns sampled in hip hop :')
Is that a suggestion for another video? I honestly think I’ve shown about every single DJ Premier sample already in dedicated videos about him. Such a great producer.
@@DJFurio yeeah it wasn't a condemnation but simply saying premier is the best ever ♡
Yeah he’s amazing
Some great ass picks. But you missed the horn sample of them all. Jazz by ATCQ
A great track that slipped my mind for this video. Years ago I did a full breakdown of The Low End Theory and definitely included that sample ua-cam.com/video/pR0jjz8bQuk/v-deo.html
Increíble ❤
Good job you took me back.
Thanks for the hit of nostalgia.
And the Primo cuts were molto bene!
✌🏿💯👍🏿
Somebody anybody know the name of the video @6:21.
I’ve been looking for this video for years.
This was early Hip Hop music before it blew up.
But I don’t remember it’s name.
They used to show this on NY Hot Tracks back in the day.
Thanks in advance.
Glad you like the video. I forgot the name of the track at 6:21 sorry
@@DJFurio
Thanks Dj, just seeing that much of my beloved old school made my day.
@@DJFurio
The song lyrics just popped in my head it’s call Street Dance.
Thank you again.
Glad you like it.
Отлично! Спасибо!
Translate isn't working so I'm not sure what you wrote. Sorry
@@DJFurio means Great! Thanks in russian ☺️
Ok thanks 👍
Trabalho incrível 💥💥💥👏👏
Thanks for watching.
Most folk don't know that the Jack Blue song was also used for Floetry FLOETIC
Yeah just quiet in the background. It’s been used a lot that sample. Great track.
Nice!!!
Thanks
2:38 I thought it was gonna be DJ Kool - Let Me Clear My Throat ('96)
That is just a sample from The 900 Number track
Whats up with all the Bo Selecta clips?
Love it!!!! I still can't find where the horns on the intro of LL Cool J "Going back to cali" come from... Anyone have an idea?
I definitely know them. I just can’t think where they’re from right now.
@@DJFurio If you ever find it, you would put an end to a 15 years long quest. 🙂
I will try and rack my brain but I’m sure I recognise it from somewhere
I’ve just read an interview where LL Cool J says they were musicians Rick Rubin hired to play the horns so they’re not sampled. I think someone has sampled the horns though and used them in another track.
@@DJFurio That would explain why I could not find it! Thanks man!!
where do the weird mask clips come from? i wanna see this stuff in context.
An old tv show called Bo Selecta
1:00 Why is the needle not on the record? Is that even a record? And what is that black dongle on top of the label?
Asking for a friend.
The records are Serato control vinyl. No actual sound on them but they are time coded and linked up to Serato so you can scratch with audio files. The black dongle is an amazing and pretty recent bit of technology. It’s a Phase wireless DJ controller. It works just like a needle on the record but it’s impossible for it to jump. Ideal for scratching with.
@@DJFurioi learned something today!
The best hip hop song with horns to me is OutKast’s SpottieOttieDopaliscious!
They sound like live horns to me and not sampled.
Great horns
Wait. We where’s “I’ll play the blues for you” by Albert king? Used by DMX “Where the hood at?” That’s an all time classic.
I made a short Albert King video a while ago and it was on there ua-cam.com/video/75PMzRcvPJ4/v-deo.html
Ante up >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
no doubt the best hip hop song with horns.
It’s a great track
Pease help to find original horn sample from SoulChef - Write This Down, or it's actually original?
I think it’s a live horn being played and not sampled
I share when it’s mostly old school .
Yeah lots of 90’s stuff on this one
In the beginning of the video, what’s the sample?
Also you should find the sample of Survival of the Fittest (remix), OMG(remix) from ATCQ, Shook Ones(Beatnuts remix).
Survival Of The Fittest Remix samples Medley by Al Wilson. Not sure about the sample for Oh My God Remix or the original Shook Ones remix either.
@@DJFurio Also find the sample of House of Pain's Jump Around remix and Naughty by Nature song Hip-hop Hooray remix too.
Which Jump Around remix as there’s a lot been done? Same for the other one.
@@DJFurio The Pete Rock remix.
I’ve shown the sample for the Jump Around Pete Rock remix before. It’s sampled from You’re No Good by The Harvey Averne Dozen. Another one where it’s been filtered down to just the bass. The vocals and horn are sampled from Soul Girl by Jeanne And The Darlings.
Naughty By Nature remix sampled 74 Miles Away by Cannonball Adderley
The thumbnail💀
🤣
@@DJFurio who’s the guy in thumbnail btw
From an old tv show from the 90’s with a comedian Vic Reeves
@@DJFurio thanks, also I'm starting too question wtf these videos are in the samples, not on just this video just the previous ones, like bruh tf is the dude in the guitar samples video
Were you in Catterick the movie
I had totally forgotten about that show
@@DJFurio You have the inspector as the thumbnail of this video that's why I asked lol.
Ah yeah. He’s also the compère in The Club from Bang Bang.
@@DJFurio Need to see that. Man is hilarious
They’re all on UA-cam. Vic is also dressed up looking just like Peter Stringfellow as the club owner.
We're you counting woodwind instruments as horns too?
I suppose so. Some are pretty hard to identify the exact instrument.
what are the clips called that sometimes play for the original samples? the ones with the weird faces n stuff...
An old tv show called Bo Selecta
@@DJFurio aah thanks a lot🤝🏼
It’s the weirdest show ever but very funny.
Clarinets next!
I’m not sure about that. That’s very specific and also pretty hard to identify. I think strings could be pretty soon.
1:54 That's also "Shorty Wanna Be A Thug" by 2Pac (All Eyez On Me, 1996)
Don’t know how you missed it but I showed that 2Pac track in this video
I was expecting Darkest Light in there.
Lots more I could have included. Just had to pick a few for 1 video.
ive had a lot of conversations with guys that work in record shops / collectors and i think da shinnin was the best hip hop album ever printed on wax... redmans dare iz a darkside would be a very close second. craig macks funk da world is an honorable mention RIP
All great albums but I don’t think any of those would be in my top 3. Obviously very different tastes.
@@DJFurio so what is your top three?
Personal choice but albums I still listen to regularly are Wu 36 Chambers, Mobb Deep The Infamous and Nas Illmatic. Plenty of others too.
👍💯
Thanks for watching
@@DJFurio 🙏💯
I know it's a stretch. But you should make a shorter video of beats that sample kalimbas
Right now I’m not making any more sample videos
Liked your live scratching, need more of that. Also where the heck is the Low End Theory re-release!
Thanks. Not sure what you’re saying about Low End Theory
@@DJFurio you had a track from it that reminded me of it. They reissued Midnight Marauders fairly recently but no Low End Theory for some reason.
Ah ok I understand now. Such a great album too
2:15 don't forget Eminem!!!!! No One's Iller (;
2Pac & Big L on that intro beat would of been dope
It’s one of my newer beats from my latest album
i wait the entire video to Defeat
Yeah it’s a great Preemo production for sure.
Why do you keep putting those scary guys in here
They are odd but I don’t think they are scary
Who are those men
There’s lots of different people on here. Mostly from old 90’s or early 2000’s TV shows.
Love the samples and all the work you put in to it. Not a fan of the random videos of people dancing with masks on and such tho.
Bro kan du spela beyond the sea?
I’m not sure what you mean
@@DJFurio lmao i commented on the wrong video so sorry
9:40 Gravediggaz - The house that hatred built
Never heard that track before and I really like the Gravediggaz. I will have a listen.
@@DJFurio it's the first track they ever recorded on the day they all first met, unfortunately didn't make it on the first album
Explains why I’ve not heard it before then.
8:27 later used by new edition hit me off
Yeah it’s been sampled a few times over the years.
Can’t find a song that sounds like a train (horn, horn, horn, horn, du duh dun duhhh)
Haha. I might need a bit more info to work that one out. What type of music is it for a start?
It’s the first one like as soon as the video starts
