Macklemore is the only rapper who's career suffered and swan dived into hell from winning a Grammy. He even admitted Kendrick should have won that trophy and he didn't deserve it.

Michael is a great album. It’s only hated because it won over Utopia. No other reason. The Grammys villainized killermike.
Both albums were great contenders for the award. Mike gives you something to think about and Travis gives you an experience only he can conjure up. Grammys did this because people generate more buzz about someone who’s not in the limelight beating someone who’s been fighting for an award for years. If Travis was in the position of Mike and Mike was in Travis’s position it would’ve been the same situation of the lesser known winning and becoming the villain.

It’s and undeniable fact that many enjoyed another experience delivered by Travis Scott cause his album showed him confronting and dealing with a lot of criticism rightfully given to him. However, Michael brought it back to a more basic rap form that isn’t all that creative but is made spectacular because it still feels relevant in the current sound of hip hop and rap. There’s no right or wrong answer their is opinions. The only fact is Travis and Michael both deserve Grammys but neither of them should’ve gotten it for Utopia or Michael since they have better works.

Your criteria is all over the place. Are these albums being compared to other nominees (Macklemore)? Judged on how well they aged (Jay Z)? Or as part of the artists' total catalogue (Eminem)? None of these are legitimate. In the case of other nominees, there are weaker years than others; in terms of aging, it's too soon to have any perspective on the most recent winners; and concerning an artist's total output, there's no consistent measure. Or, rather, you're mixing measures.

This might be controversial but I think invasion of privacy is the best album made by a trash artist.
What’s crazy was commercially Astro world did leagues better than invasion of privacy if were just looking at it commercially and financially astroworld was the biggest thing at the time
Yeah, Invasion is surely tied for the biggest Grammy blunder along with Macklemore over GKMC. Substance wise, Macklemore was wayyyy better than Invasion. The ONLY thing I personally liked about Invasion was that it was actually better than I thought it would be but, other than that, it definitely didn't deserve Grammy win for best rap album because it was not even cohesive enough of an album to be in the category.

Lesser known TPAB fact:
At one point on the song, Kendrick Lamar makes a reference to the fellow rapper Lecrae who he was friends with at the time by saying:
“Tell the world I know it’s too late, boys and girls all think I’ve gon’ cray”
Crae can be short for crazy but is also a nickname of Lecrae’s and Tell The World was one of his biggest songs at the time.
So while on the surface Kendrick is saying that people think he’s gone crazy, he’s also referencing people who think he’s gone Christian, since he opened and closed his last album good kid, maad city with an interlude reenacting him coming to Christ through a version of the sinner’s prayer.
Really don’t see why anyone has anything negative to say about Kendrick when they can just simply admit that they just don’t listen and their opinions don’t matter 😂

@@dylank.8857My opinion changed a year later over TPAB. I tried to listen to it a few times because I really enjoyed King Kunta but I just couldn’t get past Wesley’s Theory. I heard a lot of great things about the album though so I never talked bad about it but a few weeks ago I decided to listen to it again and it’s one of my favorite albums of all time. I don’t know why, I guess it’s just one of those albums that have to “click” for you to get it. But once it clicks it’s truly an amazing experience.

TPAB really does deserve #1. I just finished the album(I know, I'm late, deal with it) and it's absolutely phenomenal. Every part of it is amazing.
The college dropout is a game changer for the industry, it brought new spirit for hiphop with songs like slow jamz, breath in breath out and through the wire, who tells you a lot about kanye as a person and how he wanted to just make pure music.

I think Record Academy is trying to improve its image by winning categories past world records such as the first female singer to win the best rap album, the most Grammy winners of all time, the most winners of the best album of all time even though the quality is below that of the other nominees. This is inseparable from the decline in the quality of the jury and indications of corruption in recent years when popular and good songs that dominated that year were not included in the category.

Mr morale hits so much harder if you can identify with some of the issues in the album. The one song where he just arguing with his girl legitimately made me break down, since I grew up with my parents fighting nonstop. So many dinners they’d start fighting, and little old me had to take my food and my little sister and run upstairs, and try to block it out and eat my food.

Invasion of Privacy isn’t last place of this list bad, but it’s probably the worst in the context of what it lost to. There are some fun songs on there, but the project as a whole is just like a 4-5/10

Macklemore wasn’t actually a bad album , it was just so far away from traditional hip hop, while Kendrick’s album was generationally Iconic , in a time where mainstream had gotten super lazy and commercial, Kendrick proved hip hop was very much alive , and then he got snubbed for a white washed metrosexual guy from Seattle or something rapping about Gay love and basically re-doing a Lorde song , like the opposite of true hip hop. It wasn’t a bad album but the complete smack in the face to the entire genre , people took it all out on him.
