Your channel is by far the most improved and engaging this year - others I won't name have gone backwards, Harry's Garage is always my benchmark, but this one? You've taken a huge step towards essential viewing in my book. Brilliant content and will be sharing this as much as I can. Nice one.
Brilliant, James. Just bloody brilliant. Everything about this review is perfect. Intro, music, commentary, the car itself, obviously. Your dress sense. You really have upped your game. Nailing it post after post after post. You are by far one of the most enjoyable automotive UA-camrs out there. Keep it up and the F8 might not be such a far-fetched addition to your garage at some point in the not-to-distant future. You certainly deserve it, IMHO, for what it's worth.
My F8 Spider - blu corsa/crema - arrives in July/August. I’ve kept the options spend “down” to £52k. Still expensive but for me, a better ownership proposition than a 720S. Can’t wait.
Fast becoming one of the standout automotive review channels on YT. Great work James, you have arrived as one of the best voices in the industry, a testament to your persistent hard work (that you make look so smooth and easy nowadays; a deceptive skill because it isn't). The best compliment I think I can give you, and what really marks you out, is that it feels like I have spent time in person with the cars you review, and got to know them as if I was there. With your background it is no surprise, I guess, that your videos are extremely well produced, but still first and forefront, always, are the car and insightful commentary. There is such a wealth of considered and valuable information in every review. You are truly an example to any filmmaker that it is possible to produce superior content independently, and I certainly never scroll past a new upload without gladly clicking on it. Thank you for all you do!
Because their cars aren't designed by Pininfarina anymore. They got lazy, and the Roma is one of the best examples. The F8 really only exists so the 720S has a competitor.
The pricing is a shocker...! But it is stunning......btw your comments re scuttle shake seem v accurate and reflect the fact that this is an evolution of the 458 Spider where I felt it was a real issue, though haven't driven an F8 Spider yet - and........great review by the way!!!
This will the shortest production ever. What Ferrari are saying is the coupes are done, we're halfway through the spider build &we're starting on the SF90 coupe build. Last year or even 2019 and you were a serial Ferrari owner, you'd have had your name down for the F8 Tributo or spider. Now you'll be doing the same for the SF90 or Spider. This desire & legislation driven. They will be forced to do it. We'll all have drive into & through cities on electric power. Also, A.I. Will control the car to prevent accidents & log jams in cities.
One of the best reviews you have done James.Very entertaining and best intro that could have even been longer.Obvious it hit the spot and thanks for not crying.
James, I never leave comments but felt compelled to drop you a line. I grew up in the ’60s, so far older than either you or you're normal demographic; like many American kids, I read Road & Track and Car & Driver. I knew every spec. of the exotics of the period & each autos pros & cons according to the press of the period. My father headed Pennsylvania’s largest corporation at the time. Through my enthusiasm, seeming knowledge garnered from the auto reviews and pleading, I managed to talk my father into purchasing a ’64 Lusso that he used as a daily driver, a ‘66 275 GTB4 (my favorite of all Ferrari’s of the period, perhaps of all time), and a Miura that spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. I remember him telling me “How you talked me into buying this piece of “shi… I do not know, but it costs $1,500 in repairs to drive 500 miles” (referring to the Miura-only a slight exaggeration). For your younger audience, each of these automobiles during the period ranged in price from $16,000 to $18,500 USD new off the showroom floor, a Rolls Royce of this period was $20,000; I can remember a used MBZ Gullwing in Road & Track’s classifieds you could regularly find for $8,000 to $10,000 that I dreamt about owning one day. Ah inflation, the U.S. dollar purchasing power has decreased 93% over my lifetime thanks to our elected officials printing money. I have been fortunate to own many autos that have now become classics including 2 E-Types both convertibles one a ’63 3.8 liter 6- cylinder and the other a ’71 - 12 cylinder and a 365 GTC project car that over a period of a few years went through a total restoration. More recently an F Type R, ah the sound it makes…, have always had a soft spot for what my German car mechanic Dietrick calls “British rubbish”. Perhaps a McLaren is in order to really set him off, what do you think? 😊 I subscribe to a number of your competitors on UA-cam; however, in my humble opinion, you are by far and away the best, as you not only know your automobiles, what makes your channel extraordinary is you are able to convey the emotions of driving one of these cars, which is the entire reason we buy one in the first place, as it has nothing to do with practicality or value, or we all would be driving Toyotas, it is all about the emotion the car provides each of us behind the wheel. Each is like a beautiful woman, we know they are trouble with a capital “T” but does this reality stop us from getting involved? Hell no! Your video of the F8 Spyder just sold Ferrari a new F8, my preference Russo with saddle tan interior. Ferrari should be paying you a commission. Hope our paths cross one of these days.
Great video. At that frightening list price there are a number of alternatives even for the Tifosi; 458 Speciale, 488 Spider plus change; 458 Italia plus enough change for something like a DB9 Volante. Good though this is, would you ever advise someone to take the plunge on one of those rather than those alternatives? Keep up the good work
great that we can watch you go from the very ordinary fare to the spectacular....keep reviewing the full breadth...my dilemma is between a £10-20k used car and a £300k Ferrari...no sleepless nights on that one.
I am not the only one to suggest this, but JM would make a great host of a weekly or so auto review show, either in the UK or, if no luck there, in the US, where a good such show is very sorely needed. If you have nothing better in the pipeline, it's worth seriously looking into, JM!
What an excellent, in depth, detailed, and very useful review! Enjoyable footage, sounds, and expert advice. This video is extremely helpful to me! Thank You for such great content. I'm planning to purchase a Coupe.
Nice review. I was hoping there wa a review of a Pista to compare. Maybe the more track focussed convertible doesn’t have the same scuttle shake issue.
Lovely intro gorgeous car, what gets me these days sat here watching this is that there are Audi and Mercedes estates running round with this sort of power and torque now, shows how far most manufacturers have come
Audi (80) RS2 and BMW M5 E34 from almost 30 years ago says hello. About same power as the current v8 ferrari back then. Or if we are satisfied with 15 years ago, M5 E61 and Audi Rs6 had more power than the 430... so having the same power as the current v8 ferrari isnt new really, unless you are talking raw numbers
I live a big city close to Madrid, and I barely see interesting cars. You are filming in the middle of a field and a c63 goes by. The car scene outside Spain is really cool, I guess that cofirms that we are indeed poor 😂😂 19:23 The sound is alright but when you tested the 360 and 430, the high pitched tone, was mind boggling
I won't deny that the intro was impressive. But I watch and sub to you for your authenticity and good reviews. IMO the appeal of UA-cam is that real authenticity - compared to slickly edited TV programmes. I'm just one person, but I'd focus on the script (less trying to be Clarkson please) rather than the editing. Overall a great review - I don't usually enjoy watching "unobtanium" but you sold me on it. And thank fuck there's a Ferrari without those ghastly screens that will be outdated in 2 years like the SF90, for those that can afford them.
But i mean if you look at it overall, ferrari doesnt really have the „change the engine or the chasis for the new model while keeping the other variable (engine or the chasis) same tactic. The 360s engine was still basically in its core the engine from the early 70s 308 gt4 dino. Same family of engine was used in all 308s , all 208s , all 328s, 288 gto , f40 , all 348s 355s and 360s. Only with the 430 and the 488 there were actual massive changes with the engines other than those 2 cars the engines in the other cars were still a development of the already existing engines.
One in this exact colour passed me on the M5 the other evening, headed towards Torbay. It was following a 488 Spider in black and boy has the F8 corrected the awkward styling of the older model.
Am I the only one who's lately appreciating more Bertone's Dino GT4 than Pininfarina's 308? I think that the Dino would be a stunner with better proportions, while the Pininfarina design started to make more sense with the 328 to me.
Personally i dont like the look of the bertone 308 at all. Pininfarina 308 is better looking than both 308 bertone and the pininfarina 328 in my opinion
Well I have to say ,...this is one of your most balanced and interesting review. The cowl shake is notorious on this car . McLaren is superior as you stated on this . 👍
Amazing! Still would get the GTS if I had to choose! But truth be told... To spend this level of money on a car I would probably would have so much money and just get both!
The into should be award winning if there are awards for such. … Cinematically beautiful, to say nothing of the score . Now I shall go and watch the rest 😏
James had certainly upped his game quite a lot with that introduction.
Agreed...
Next point of focus is the coat.
@@simonward5833 LMFAO 🤣
@@simonward5833 💯 it's absolutely awful.
Agreed. That was kinda, fantastic!
Omg you nailed the Uncle Buck look! Jus need the hat, R.I.P John Candy
John Candy and John Goodman have always been my two favorite “John’s”. Thank god we still have Goodman here in New Orleans. I don’t want to lose him.
Lol classic
I love the C63 interlude and the fact that you left it in.
The quality of filming, cinematography and PTC intro is way beyond other UA-cam offerings. If ever there was a TV interview, this is it!
Delivery as well, he's got character
Man, that 355 sound 👌
Tell me about it. They are getting to unobtainum now though
355 sounded like a v6
f430 has the best ferrari v8 soundtrack that’s not a racing car
Not only the sound but the 355 to me is one of the best looking Ferraris.
That 355 was pure music. Funny how much it ruled the roost in that lineup.
That's what I thought , tribute is it
7:04 hearing that C63 passing by means I now have to spend my afternoon on autotrader
It's a real problem with James' videos. I'm always on autotrader afterwards. Probably not for this one though...
I do it to myself too!

What an epic introduction!!
What an intro. Blockbuster standard!
That intro, music and the sunset was a very elegant way of saying what you wanted to say.
Thanks Mark :)

This is the best introduction of any JayEmm video so far. It'll take a Herculean effort to surpass this intro.
Brilliant video but at 7:24 I genuinely laughed out loud when you referenced that you were dressed as “Uncle Buck” 😆 I’m laughing just typing this…👍
Same👍
Incidentally I was behind an F8 from Stowmarket to Stonham Aspall and it looked and sounded utterly glorious
I know that road very well

I made this comment right after I watched the first minute of this video. When that F8 appears under the sunset 🤯 this introduction is next level.
This man deserves more subs 👍
1:09 in, brilliant editing and music choice, I have to give credit where its due.
Thanks :)
Great intro, impressive c63 shout out , and colour coordinated cyclist ~0:12:00!
The intro was pure class.
The shot where the camera is on the rear engine cover when the roof is closed was very reminiscent of "le mans " movie . Very good.
Thanks!
How Ferrari have managed to drag out the 458 platform for so long is beyond me.
Simple, they made a kickass platform in the first place
Because it was quite literally that good, and if the platform is that good it tends to spread across several generations of the same/similar model
Brand loyalty, people love the badge.
Because their cars aren't designed by Pininfarina anymore. They got lazy, and the Roma is one of the best examples. The F8 really only exists so the 720S has a competitor.
@@Corvolet5 the Roma is just sad tbh. The derivative design will probably not age well

Intro & music are amazing!!! keep the good work!
That’s the best opening sequence I’ve ever seen bar none. Watched it twice.
