During the last months, you have asked me many questions regarding the NC750X DCT Gearbox and I have thought to place all your questions together in a complete DCT video guide, so you can be able to understand how the Honda NC750X DCT Gearbox it is working in real life riding. How functional it really is? How easy or not it is to use it? How reliable is it?
Also I have added some unspoken Tips & Tricks for your, hopefully they will be usefull for you !

However, if you don't know what a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is on a motorcycle and what it does, you could always look up the official description from Honda of what a DCT does. As the world's biggest motorcycle manufacturer and a great exponent of the technology, we describe a DCT as a "computerised electro-hydraulic control system to switch between the gears of a conventional six-speed transmission. It is equipped with two clutch packs… one for odd-numbered gears - 1, 3 and 5 - and one for even-numbered gears - 2, 4 and 6."
That's what a DCT is, but what it does probably needs a little more explaining, and we're happy to oblige: "Before actual gear shifting operation begins, the system automatically prepares itself for the transfer of drive power between gears by starting up the rotation of the gear to be changed to. Its two independently actuated clutches then smoothly transfer rotation speed from one gear to the next without zeroing out the drive force transmitted to the rear wheel."
What is the origin of DCT?
Before my time at Honda, there were other automatic transmissions such as the ‘Hondamatic’ gearbox in the 1970s which relied on a torque converter, and the Human Friendly Transmission on the DN01.
We also introduced the ‘Adaptive Clutch Capability Control’ which uses the electronic control of the DCT system to ‘slip’ the clutch a little when the throttle position is changed initially from a fully closed or fully opened position. That really helped smooth out the bike behaviour.
The other things is that it is both easy and direct. ‘Easy’ meaning no need to use a clutch in slow traffic, no chance of stalling, no bashing helmets with a pillion. ‘Direct’ being the speed of the gear change, the ability to use the triggers, and, as I mentioned, to concentrate purely on your riding.

A very useful run-through of how dct works on the NC bikes. The NC750X is often described as a commuter bike. This is nonsense. I have ridden hundreds of other bikes and I can tell you that with the NC750 I can keep up with any bike on the road DRIVING AT LEGAL SPEEDS. On longer runs, thanks to the low fuel consumption, you don’t have to fill up so frequently so you get there faster than a high-powered bike! Also, as this rider says, you don’t need to be changing gears manually to experience serious biking and it’s great fun exploring the possibilities of the dct drive. The NC750 is a great bike for both beginners and serious riders. I’ve been riding since 1963 and this is the best bike I have ever had. And I have had a lot of bikes.

DCT is my go to. I rode manual and maybe I will ride again in the future a manual box but the DCT is the thing for me. I love the NC model aswell, I love the looks of Africa Twin so maybe that will be my future bike, I'm still extremely pleased by my NC so I'm not in a rush to change it. There are people out there who know how to shift and drive, I know for myself that I'm no Rossi, some might even argue that if you are not shifting, it not the same experience, it can't be called motorcycling, I think motorcycling is about comunity, fun, riding and bringing people together.

Very useful assessment, thank you! I have a 2019 750X DCT on which I have covered about 5000km only. I had a manual NC700X from 2013 to 2019. I have no wish to revert to a manual transmission. On twisty roads I use Sport 1 and sometimes change down a gear before negotiating a hazard. I had not learned how to change between Sport 1,2 and 3 so the demonstration in your video was useful. Reviews by people who've covered many thousands of kilometres on a particular model of motorcycle are more useful than quick reflections by a person whose just taken a dealer's demonstrator out for a test ride.

Hi there, I have been riding for fifty years and I have a DCT 750X 2017 which I bought four weeks ago for the first time and it is my bike of choice when I go out, and I have others to choose from. I rate it very highly and would not hesitate to recommend it. It must be tried for at least two hours for the first time when you take it for a test ride to appreciate how easy and good it is. I wish I had chosen DCT when I had my Crosstourer 6 years ago as I think I would still have it now. Great review of DCT from a users point of view. 👍

I live in the USA. We’re still waiting for the 2021 model to arrive in dealerships! I’m very excited about getting the

I'd go 4 the 2020 model instead. Costs less and has more riding options ( better ground clearance ). The 2021 is a 1/2 baked bike. No CC, shorter shocks' travel, LEDs are also on the 2020, except turn bulbs. I easily installed LED turn bulbs, that are much brighter than on the 2021.... Yes - on 2021 u get 3 more 🐎🐎🐎 + some small insignificants... Remember - the new bike is 3cm lower = only 4 pretty good roads.

Indeed, the DCT is fantastic however, I chose the manual version because it is 10 kg lighter and cost quite a bit less. Also, and this may seem trivial, the lever and pedal on the DCT are located on the right side so, for the sake of symmetry, I would prefer that the rear brake be relocated with a lever on the left handle bar.

Interesant. In mod special pe coborâre si intrare in acul de par.

    • @IdealBike
      @IdealBike  3 роки тому +2

The 2021 model is much better in the first gears...

Salut. Doar in prezentarea bordului. Asfalt uscat.

Toate cele bune !

Too complicated, guessing plenty of specialty tools replace clutches etc... probably ok if your the type that pays others to work on your bike.

When the bike it's reliable as this one... No worries

The redline is so low, 6000 rpm, I hardley think the clutch will be working much.

@@johnroe3915 not even taking into account the two clutches so they only work part time.

Unless you’re doing something seriously different to everyone else modern clutches seem to last forever these days.
