I have noticed how good the cukes in their system are doing for you. It will be fun to watch what you grow in these buckets, should of told them to send dirt, just in case.
LOL... That would have been so nice if they sent the soil too... ahahaha A magic soil pellet that you just add water and it fills the bucket... Hmmmmm.....
@@BumbleBeeJunction Ha Ha the shipping would've killed us!! Hey, what do you feed your cukes? I went ahead and planted a GroFern with cukes and they're loving it. I use fish emulsion, but want to follow your lead.
I'd highly recommend this company. I ordered a set of their grow buckets and it was missing a piece. I contacted them and less than 24 hours they had not only responded but bent over backwards to make it right. They sent out not only the piece I was missing but also another set free of charge. It was the best costumer service I have ever had. Love this system
I am sure they appreciate your kind words ! We have also found them amazing to work with ! Glad you are happy with them ! They are really trying to put together something special !
Cool i didnt paint my bucket garden now i feel like a slacker but i did get mutiple colors in buckets🤪😆😆😆😆 tina the energizer bunny lol love yall those buckets look awesome like i want some 👍👍👍👍👍😁
That is awesome! We waited a year for the treated lumber to try gray (dry completely) and this is more of a protective stain job (I hate the way paint peels)...
After watching your GroFern hanging buckets video I went to their site and ended up ordering these bucket self watering inserts. So far so good. Seems to work better than the ones I cobbled together! Thanks guys, appreciate you!
Thanks for trusting us with your plants, Susan. Yes the other DIY versions can work, but these have special features and are just so easy to put together ;-)
The concept looks great. Question..... With your potato buckets and bucket stand, that's 40+ buckets, times, say 4 gallons soil,, that's about 1 cubic yard of soil. That's a lot of soil. Will you be harvesting and saving the soil, revitalizing, and reusing it for several years, or putting new in each year? Cut our scapes today! 😃👍😃 Oh, we found a home made recipe that deters/kills ticks and seems to work. 2 times using it, no ticks! Bonus, the 2 times I used it, seems it was keeping mosquito's, black fly's, deer fly's away also?!?! 20 drops of Eucalyptus Oil mixed into 4oz of water, shook up in a small plant mister. Can't guaranty it, but it worked for me. And it doesn't stink! Just sharing. TYFS Mark, Mark and Rosa
Usually I will dump the buckets to make sure I dont have any anaerobic slime / rot going on it the bottom from soil sitting in water, and then I mix the old soil with new and toss in some amendments (or just some Jobes, that works too) before refilling the bucket... If I do have any issues with the soil, I just toss it in the bottom of whatever raised box I am filling at the time, and use it as organic filler... // And I won't doubt your repellant since my everyday use one is eucalyptus and citrus... LOL
Good to see you Mark. 😃 The bucket system looks interesting, THUMBS UP EVERYONE. Someone likes to paint. DO YOU WANT TO COME TO MY HOUSE AND DO A DEMINSTRATION? I'm not looking forward to doing it. 😢 I've got ceilings need doing. The garage is crying, paint me. 😢 😢 . G-D Bless.
Really like growing in these. I’ve tried perlite and sand instead of soil at the bottom but it didvt wick as well. Whst I found that wicks the best is Promix HP stuffed down and about inch of 2 above thd inset than fill with whatever medium of your choice. I prefer a blend of FFH FFFOF CYCO coco coir and a Promix HP with organic dry amendments. I’ve since made some sip buckets with em with the floats you can by extra and I’ve addd an air stone in bottom for indoor..
They really are simple... I may have made it sound or look more complex than it is... We will be talking about them more coming up, so maybe it will help clarify things...
Hey, Qweeknee it's Carrie, here. I wasn't a gardener, until my now partner, Brian, the garden expert & engineer, showed me his invention. I popped that thing in a bucket and planted a tomato in 5 minutes and have been a GroBucket gardener ever since. Plus, I ended up investing in the company and quit my job to come help Brian promote this amazing product--so, I truly believe in it. They're so much fun, but I warn you, it's a tad bit addictive ;-)
That is correct... It is also the size hole you need if you wish to convert later to the float / cut off automatic system they will be coming out with later...
Yes, you can't over-water, because as soon as the reservoir fills excess water runs out the drain hole. The green water level stick shows when you need to water.
Mark, thank you so much for spotlighting our GroBucket gardening system. You are so kind and thoughtful and we appreciate both you and Tina and all you do to encourage the gardening community and newbies who just want to learn to grow their own food. We're glad GroBuckets help even people grow even in small spaces like apartment balconies and rooftops/fire escapes in cities. Everyone can grow with GroBucket's super easy system. Looking forward to updates on cukes and to see whatever you grow in your buckets. Take good care and we'll stay in touch. Carrie, GroTech Garden Products **OH PS some people are concerned soil will fall down through the GroBucket slots, but the system is designed such that that doesn't happen. I like your equinity with with coffee filters, ;-) but they aren't necessary, plus the air slots on top help provide air from the air gap that's created between the drain hole and the top of the GroBucket. Take good care!
Good to know about the slots (leaving them open for air exchange) because that smelly anaerobic slime that happens with a lot of self wicking designs is gross - and root rot becomes a problem... We are really pleased with the Gro systems so far and they seem to be doing really well... Excited to see how they do being able to feed at the root level, etc... We really appreciate the opportunity, thank you Carrie ! So far so GREAT ! LOL
Thanks for the review. We used self wicking buckets this year and we really liked them. I've seen the platform like you were staining used for bucket growing. Just wondering what the benefits are for the platform? It is very pretty.
The rack is great for people who put holes in the bottoms of the buckets... It adds a complication for critters trying to climb up in the buckets... Keeps the buckets close together but the difference in height allows air flow... You can add wheels to make it mobile, or extend the vertical frame to hold bird netting and trellis wires... Wont kill whole sections of grass like buckets on the ground... etc... Lots of advantages once you stop and think about it...
@@BumbleBeeJunction your stand inspired ours. And my neighbor who is elderly had his son build him one that stands higher, so he doesn't have to bend down to tend his garden, plus the water won't rot his deck. Thanks for the inspiration. Now, we just need Tina to come paint! ha
Looks like a good system. I'll go check them out. Can't wait to see then filled up and growing plants. Tina you did a great job on the the bucket garden trellis. It will be festive with Christmas colors, green and red. Much love from So.Cal.💟

I am glad to hear your garden is rock'n and roll'n ! The buckets come with the hanging version, but the not with the 5 gal bucket version, correct...
You can get free buckets from delis (pickle buckets)--Firehouse Subs sells theirs for $3 or Walmart carries them pretty inexpensively.
Maybe I missed it... how high was the drain hole, and how does the soil get the water?
The drain hole is about 4" high, at the point where the water level comes in contact with the soil to promote wicking...
What size are your ULine buckets, 5 gallon or 7 gallon?
They are the 5 gal... Thank you for watching Sarah !
Will this earth not mix with the poured water when watering because the holes in this device are quite large?
The watering pipes are above the surface... We have to had trouble with soil in the bottom...
