Tina, I absolutly love your videos. I never dreamed of putting cukes in hanging baskets on my porch. I have been fighting summer heat, rain and weeds just to have homemade pickles. Never again! This is such a great idea.
Thank you so much 🤗 And dont be fooled... I have left a path of destruction and dead plants along the way... Its all just part of the learning curve... We just hope to shorten it for others...
The most beautiful cucumbers I have ever saw. And I have seen alot. When I was a child, there was a pickle factory in the town where I grew up. I vaguely remember helping Mom and the siblings picking pickles and taking them to the factory and selling them. I loved watching them traveling along the chute and being washed during the processing process. It's funny how things just pop back into your memory after years of not thinking about them. Thanks Tina for bringing that memory back for me.
Yes they do ! The combination of the self watering baskets, our container garden soil mix, and weekly feedings with miracle grow water soluble tomato food really seems to work well...
Tina - your cucumber plants hanging on your porch are beautiful! Those large cucumbers would be great to thin slice on a mandolin and dehydrate into dilly cucumber chips! My family loves having those for quick snacks or to have with a sandwich instead of potato chips. Now I've got to look back thru your videos and find how you set up your self-watering buckets. My list of favorite channels and 'what to search for videos' just keeps growing. I just never have time to get caught up, but at least by writing notes for myself I know what I need to find. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your setup. Love this! Patricia
Anything we can help with, just let us know... We are usually pretty good about getting to comments (especially questions)... And those chips sound wonderful !
Hi - new subscriber here from Little Bean's Garden. Had to "meet" the generous and caring people that helped her and her mom out, how terribly kind of you. Love the hanging cuke trellis idea. And you have the cutest intro too!
Thank you so much for supporting Zule through these troubled times for her family ! She is such a dear heart ! And thank you for stopping in to say hello and subscribing ! We appreciate your support as well ! That is our granddaughter Adalyn in the intro... She is also the BOOP girl at the end of all of our videos (she is much younger there)... Again, welcome !
Oh Yeah...... there'd be some Relish in my future! That really looks awesome. Looks like it belongs there. The porch will look naked come this Fall. 😭😭😭 TYFS Tina, Mark and Rosa
I was thinking that if the cukes peter out early enough, that I might put some asparagus beans (yard beans / 3' beans) in there and see how they do for Fall... LOL I think it would look hilarious covered in long beans... ahahaha
That's amazing. I have Chinese Long Beans growing on a trellis against the wall of my house. It looks decorative like your cucumbers do but it's food too. Edible Landscaping.
@@BumbleBeeJunction It's a good choice. I ate some last night for the first time and they were good. Unlike regular green beans they hold their shape even when tender and don't get mushy. I'm going to try them steamed the next time.
The new setup for those glorious cukes looks great! WTG Mark & Tina! Makes my mouth water! I'm replanting another round of beans and cukes today. Looking forward to dehydrating more. Did you know nor are leaves taste like cukes? Yummy!
Wow sounds great. Was wondering how do you use your dehydrated cukes? Can you re hydrate them for eating and if so what is your process. I heard a lady say you can but had to pay to find out in her course. Didn't have the money for the whole course and that was the only part I had never done or heard of.!!
I have only used a prefab fence, would like to train them to my white vinyl fence, and never thought to use a wire like Tina used. The stronger wire might make this a project for next year. Mine are producing about 6 mature cukes a day and we are on the early side.
WOW, Tina!! This is Amazing! We're loving the cucumber trellis idea. We tried your idea with just one wire, but this is phenomenal! Productive and Pretty and even provides shade--Love it! Can't wait to see your recipes!! Thanks for sharing. #GroBucket
Thanks so much ! We really love the GroFern hanging baskets ! And as you can see, the cucumbers like them too ! LOL Thank you for the opportunity to work with them, and share them with others ! The response has been wonderful, and several folks have expressed an interest in them ! In fact, we have been meaning to ask you about expanding our own collection... ahahaha Again, thank you for sharing this wonderful product with us, and we will continue to follow their progress, which is off to a wonderful start !
Very beautiful, Every hanging bucket I put out, the doves nest in them. I have 17 Generations. They love to lineup on the roof and watch me tend to the garden and anything else I'm doing. Lol but I do wonder if they would like to share cucumbers in their nest! I am going to try it with at least one. The doves do have their favorites. I think it is so beautiful and I would love it on my porch. Blessings to you two.
We had a similar problem with the song finches here... Helped to cover the baskets with chicken wire before planting... The plants never minded it, and the birds found somewhere else to nest / dirt bath...
Thanks for sharing this! I tried this too this year (thanks to your other video). I need to put up some wire too as my plants keep looking up to grow. Due to my limited space, I really like this idea! Helps me get the most put of my growing area.

Hi Mark and Tina!! Amazing !! The cucumber plants look wonderful and they look great on the porch -what a great wall of vines! Looking forward to the videos of cucumber 🥒 recipes!! By the way, I am also addicted to crunchy pickles! Love you guys!!
Hey Guys, Air Force retired AMMO troop here in Central Wisconsin. That location looks mostly shaded. Do you put them there more for the cuteness or function? I have a mostly shaded property but have been toying with putting the cucumbers on edge of sunny area that is mostly shaded. Love learning from you both. Love the gourd baskets Tina.
Purely function, that also happens to be pretty... Cukes love the heat but not the sun... Morning sun only seems to work about the best... Hoping to play with some more gourds this winter... And thank you for your service ! Our son currently serves in the USAF...
Arrrg... We had a groundhog that liked to help himself to the last few feet of our beans, which we never really minded, until he took off 11 heads of cabbage in one night ! He has since been relocated to the great beyond... LOL
We really like the combination of the self watering baskets, our container gardening soil mix, and weekly feeding with the water soluble miracle grow tomato food...
Go for it ! Just remember they love the heat but not the sun, so try to put them where they catch morning sun (east side of a building) and little else the rest of the day...
@@BumbleBeeJunction Thank you! You certainly helped me decide. We will have to implement this idea between trees, so, in some ways, it complicates the project...but...doable!

So Tina I have a question. When I started my garden this year I planted a lot of cucumber plants. Unfortunately I was not able to get them up on a trellis like I wanted too. Almost all of the cucumbers that I have collected are deformed in shape… how do you get such pretty cucumbers? Is it the trellis system or something else that is causing the deformities?
Cucumbers need to hang to be straight in most cases... They like consistent watering and feeding as well... Growing them where they only get morning sun helps also... I think a lot of the deformities come from either the skin thickening in the sun while the cucumber is still forming, or the cukes trying to form in spurts from sporatic water and feed... Definitely try to trellis them if you can though...
Could you please tell me the name of the cucumbers that you grow? I don’t like the new super long variety that has taken over the grocery stores. My favorite way to eat cucumbers is cut into chunks with tomatoes, salt and pepper and swimming in bacon ranch dressing oh my goodness! I can hardly wait 😋
The ones in the hanging pots are northern pickling cukes, and the lower pots are marketmore I believe... Another good one you might try is cukes, toms, sliced red onion, and top them all with italian dressing... Like with the ranch, they are even better when marinated overnight...
The cucumber plants also make the porch look so cool - almost like a grape arbor!! Love it - and pickles - and fresh cuke salad - and…..!!!
Sounds great!
Tina, I absolutly love your videos. I never dreamed of putting cukes in hanging baskets on my porch. I have been fighting summer heat, rain and weeds just to have homemade pickles. Never again! This is such a great idea.

Ok. Thanks bunches, and hugs from Texas!!!!
I’ve always loved your cucumbers on the porch.
Thanks ! I think they are as good as any hanging flower... Especially with ranch dressing... ahahahaha
Oh what a beautiful sight. I'd be snacking on one right now. Girl your green thumb is amazing. Know it's your calmness of the love of your plants.

Seems like yesterday that you planted those.
It really does... Spring shoots by so fast... Hard to believe we are already starting in on the Fall garden...
Did you reinforce the pots?
What fertalizers should I use?
Where did you get those pots?
How did you attach the wire to the post?
If my garden lacks pollinators do I need to hand pollinate the cucumbers 🥒
You can, just to be sure... A large makeup / powder brush works well....
