Roadside assistance can be a way for couriers to stay more busy. The main apps i used a couple years ago are Urgently and Honk. Don't expect to make a living on just the roadside but it can easily fit into the workflow of a gig worker that's always on the move. i say throw as many lines as possible out there and only reel in the big fish. when the little fish bite (low paying orders) don't even bother trying to set the hook, just wait for a better one to come along.
one of the big expenses in roadside assistance is insurance. I'm not an insurance guy but there's a chance that couriers already have the necessary coverage which would make it more profitable
Yea currently paying 120 a month for insurance but it helps!

The one thing I am massively jealous of you is the fact that whenever you go to these spots, it seems like everything is ready for you to just grab it and go. It is beyond rare that orders are pulled and ready to go here in the NYC metro area. It drives me f'n crazy that I sometimes have to wait upwards of 15-20 minutes after arriving at the desired time because these store workers are lazy.

For those that work Roadie / Dispatch (cause I work both) when have u seen orders like the ones he gets 100 some dollars for two or three miles. The biggest one I’ve had was for 110 to deliver some meds that was a two hour drive there n then two hours back. Now I’m not hating but there’s no mistaking that this here guy is a plant can’t roll with that.
And for those that don’t believe, I have receipts.
