Lol! 😆"It's more fun to buy books than chairs." Definitely something I would say too!!
Yes and more expensive
Great discussion. First time commenting, longtime listener. I think I’ve had Logos Bible software since its inception, since the late 90s or early 2000s. But I still had a pretty decent size physical library.
But then in 2015, our church remodeled, and I had to get all my books out of the pastor’s office. I didn’t have anywhere nearby where I could conveniently store them. I decided to take them to the half-price bookstore chain, and I used the proceeds to beef up my Logos library. So now I am all in on digital books.
I’m so glad I did.
Like you said, you have your whole library in your pocket or in your briefcase. Plus if there’s a fire or natural disaster which destroys my home, all I have to do is get another iPhone, or iPad, or Kindle, login, and all my resources are right there. Plus, like you said, it’s a game changer to be able to scan books from your physical library, even though I can’t really use that feature on an iPad, the physical books don’t show up on iPad searches, only on a computer. But man, what an awesome piece of software.
My one wish is that they would make it so that you can read the books on an E ink reader. Looking at a bright iPad screen or computer screen can be a little wearying on the eyes. That’s where having this on a Kindle Paperwhite type device would really be a extra blessing, The whipping on top.
Thanks for watching! Totally agree with everything you said. I know a pastor who lost most all his books in a fire. He had thousands. It does happen.
These are my favorites reviews. Just a Lay person giving the review thank you
Dude, your library/office set up here is amazing!!
Thanks!
Thanks for this video Steve! I have been building my Logos library for quite some years and love the program, it just keeps getting better. I have 9 and am looking at my options to upgrade to 10 shortly. Love the option to incorporate your sermons into the program. I am looking to start utilizing this function….hmm, a video on sermon prep in logos would be helpful…
Yes that would be. I will make one and perhaps we can collaborate on this Plumber review
The ability to be anywhere and have my entire library on my iphone is sooo cool. One problem is forcing myself to NOT do deep research during a sermon 😂
Lol. Same here
Thanks for the review! Logos seems to be getting better and better. At the moment I'm just not sure which package would be best for me to get, so taking my time to think it over.
By the way, loving the recording set up you've got going. Looks really good!
Well it’s a bit addictive honestly. If you start small, you’ll keep wanting to add packages. I’m not sure what level you need for scanning physical books and making them part of your searchable library.
I would start small. Get extremely familiar with your package then consider upgrading
"It's more fun to buy books than chairs." LOL. AAAAAAAMEN. I found my tribe.
😂
That was funny…. no one says you even have to own a chair to use Logos, but it helps! 😂
@@carbonbikermy dad watched this video and bought me a chair for Christmas 😂
Love this! Thanks for this review. Still on the fence as to whether or not I’ll take the plunge 🤔
I understand! I can tell you that my only regret is that I hadn’t jumped in sooner.
You nudged me off the fence 😂 and you were right!
Can I push you off the fence 🤣
@@GrantsPassBaptist-Church Praise God
I learned of Logos 10 free version from the late Dr.Micheal Heiser whilst listening to his podcast. Praise Jesus!
I tell you what, that’s one sharply dressed plumber. Also, I disagree with your initial assessment of just being an average guy, you’re quite above my friend. Great introduction to Logos. And yes, they are such an amazing company, for instance, I just received my $20 birthday coupon which I used to upgrade a base package that ended up only costing me a dollar and some change. 47 new books. Happy birthday to me.
Haha thanks! I filmed this between church services last Sunday 😂 That’s awesome on the birthday deal.
That’s true. You are way above average bro
Useful review. I stick to good old eSword. Cheap and cheerful, and there are iPhone, iPad and Mac versions. For KJV folks it does the job. I’ve tried Logos a few times and can’t make the switch. I just found it too overwhelming. The ability to search your physical library is a very compelling feature though.
Enter passage and press enter and it searches your whole library automatically..cannot get much easier than that.
I found it overwhelming for about a year and a half. Even after I purchased a package I regretted it after a while and called someone at Faithlife to help me change the package I got
eSword is just fine and I use both. The free material is more than sufficient.
I had no idea about the print book search feature till now (and I own Logos 10!). That’s amazing!
Logos 10 is a game changer. I’m hoping they use AI to generate sermons soon
Great review! Thanks for the shout out! 😊
Glad to!
It would help to do it in dark mode. White screen hurts my eyes. 😊 I had Logos (Libronix) since early to mid 90’s. Lol
I had no idea about the searchable and audiobook feature for the physical books you already own!
Yes it’s pretty cool! It will only give a snippet of the text but it will show you exactly where to find it in your print book.
The audiobook search feature doesn’t really work. I’ve tried it
@@AguileraFamilyMinistriesInc the audiobook feature has worked for me. Sometimes it has some glitches though

Whoa that is amazing I'm honestly drooling. I'm so sick of just using my phone for everything
Thank you so much Dr.
hey can I ask something.
Been following your channel a Good while now
Do you work?
This question is not meant to be harsh. I just want to know if you have job
Yep. I work full time. I supervise multiple plumbing crews.
@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews kk thank you
So you work full time, have kids, study and teach Greek, teach at church and make UA-cam videos. Busy man!
@@markmarkster it is a busy and rewarding season! :)
Amen
Which version of Logos 9 did you buy? It seems like you had a wide variety of resources available even prior to the update to Logos 10.
spray WD-40 or anything similar on the parts of your chair and it will be brand new, no squeaks. (take your chair outside, you don't want your room smelling)
Hi my name is charles. I am new to logos. And I'm looking into it. Unfortunately no one's talking numbers. How much is this? Does logos put out a new update every year? Or does yours get the update with it automatically? Someone please advise.
I’ve had Logos for about 25 years and in that time they’ve come out with about 10 major updates, so…. it’s every 2-3 years. Recently I think it’s been every 2. With each upgrade, they generally add feature sets that build upon what you have, so you don’t really go backwards in functionality and you never lose access to books (resources) that you’ve already purchased. So you can start with basic book collections and build. The beauty is that you never pay for something more than once. For. example if you buy a bronze collection and later want to upgrade to silver, the price of the silver is lower because you already have many of the resources from the earlier purchase. They call this dynamic pricing, and it’s always done fairly, in my opinion. Like resource colllections, the feature sets have a tiered price structure, too. To get every new bell and whistle, you have to either buy the feature set for those items you want, or buy, say, a Silver collection, which will get you the full feature set, I think. If in doubt I’d encourage you to contact customer service at www.faithlife.com. They’ll be able to help you get the best bang for your buck based on what you need without going overboard.
Do you have an opinion on a lesser used version, the1901ASV bible? I'm finding the NT text to be very pleasing to read. The references are great!
I like it and use it often. It’s not a Byzantine text, like I prefer. But it’s a very good translation
Do you happen to know which features set of logos 10 I would need to be able to scan in my physical books?
I checked with logos how to add my print books. I was told it is available only with logos Gold package and not in logos fundamentals the cheapest package. Which I find annoying
Yes. That is annoying
I read KJV and I'm having a hard time finding good Greek text from the Textus Receptus and Majority Text. Can you recommend some Greek text on Logos?
How about this one www.logos.com/product/4643/the-new-testament-in-greek?
@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews That will work, thank you.
Does LOGOS' ownership of Verbum software cause you any concern? Has the relationship of LOGOS through Verbum with the Catholic Church in anyway compromised LOGOS ?
I don’t know really anything about that unfortunately. I am familiar with Verbum a little bit. But about two sentences would exhaust my knowledge
@@BiblicalStudiesandReviews Verbum is "LOGOS" for the Catholic Church. Both software packages are owned by Faithlife Corporation. My point being that just as Crossway publishes the ESV has the ESV-CE and thus are financially benefiting on a relationship with the Catholic Church, so Faithlife Corporation is financially benefiting from a relationship with the Catholic Church because of sales of Verbum to Catholics.
Would a reasonable person would assume a Bible Translation company and Bible Software company that is doing significant sales to Catholics approved by the Catholic Church could be careful not rock the boat ? I think that is a very valid question for those of us that we are saved by grace, and grace alone.
Just something to think about.....
:)
The recent “erotic” books scandal has compromised Logos rather more!
@@glenn1611 I think a lot of stuff Logos has was pretty bad, the erotic stuff just make it plain for the average person.
Logos continues to freeze.
