Nice video! Great to see some fellow zr2 owners (Hi Richard! Blake here) without any clickbait titles. You're making me want to do truck content now...
Thank you! I personally hate click bait titles just to win over "views". I feel like if you produce quality videos, people will come back no matter the title. The more ZR2 content on UA-cam the better! Not to many people that do film their ZR2s.
@@rtcorbett1 yep. We met at the overland expo and were friends on Facebook. I sent you photos of my struts and you asked me about oil (although I don’t think that last part will narrow it down 🤣). This is my motorbike UA-cam account but I also have a couple alucab videos on here.
We just missed you! We were in Ouray from 8/4-8/8 Jeeping with my brother and friends. I ordered a 2024 Colorazo ZR2 early in the year but production delays resulted in the truck not being delivered on time so I didn't get to drive it on the trails this year. (next year for sure!) Truck was delivered to the dealership the day after we got back from the trip! We still had a good time though, trailered the old 2002 Jeep out for the trip instead. I'm glad to see you guys out on the trails that I know all to well. (Moab and San Juan Mountains)
Very good video, after so many UA-cam channels of off road with Chevy trucks I found the best channel off road on rocks since the other channels do not show what a Chevy can do, since I am a beginner and I know nothing about off road and I would like to learn I just bought my first vehicle and it is a Chevy Bison Silverado, thanks
I’ve been on all of these roads a bunch of times so I’m so excited to see how well this truck clears them, last time I was on engineer pass was as little as a month ago
Nice! It was our first time experiencing all these trails and they were amazing. Trucks did great and with the turbos, they didn't struggle at the elevation.
Another amazing video! For any vertical/off camber obstacles, I love using terrain mode in my TB. It makes the truck identify as a ZR2 😂 although it does cook the brakes.
That looks like an awesome adventure! I couldn't help but notice that the camper on the red ZR2 seemed to bounce a lot while your ZR2 seemed pretty solid. It looks like GM beefed up the frame for this generation which is good to know.
Possibly, it also is something to note my camper is about 200-300lbs lighter than the ALU cab campers so that could possibly play a factor. This is also without any gear and Richard lives out of his practically full time so he has a lot more tools and equipment in the back of his.
Richard here, my Alu-Cab set up is about 800lbs heavier than his. I also run about 10PSI less than him and need stiffer springs for all the extra weight. My frame has been reinforced and the shocked relocated outboard similar to the 3rd gen. I will say, before I put the Kings on she bucked and bounced WAY more than it does now.
Did I "spy" a Georgia tag on your trail buddy's rig? That's quite the trek! I did some trails in the southern Appalachians today, but I'd love to head out west with the ZR2. Great vid!
Indeed you are correct. He is technically from Georgia but he actually travels in his ZR2 full time! You for sure need to get out here, there is nothing like whats out West on the East coast.
Yep. The east suburb of Atlanta called Decatur. As mentioned, I live out of it so I’m hardly there. Those trails are so boring compared to the west - although, the plentiful shade and water is nice.
@@rtcorbett1 I definitely know Decatur. I'm about 30 miles NNE of there next to Lake Lanier. I'm usually up in the Apps every weekend, just to stretch the legs a bit.
I have just under 10,000 miles. I'll actually be doing a 10,000 mile review video where I do a full breakdown over all the good, the bad, and the issues I've had.
We have a collapsible toilet and big bags that go in the toilet have almost a kitty litter in them that double Ziploc. We just simply pack it out. I'll make a gear video soon enough
I'm running the stock 33" spare. You can fit the 315s underneath but they hang much lower so they can get caught on obstacles. The 315s are technically a 34.4 so the difference between the stock 33 and the 315s isn't much. Worst case scenario I could limp my way out of a trail and to the nearest tire shop if needed with the factory 33. Plan is to get a rear bumper with a swingout once the aftermarket catches up.
The ZR2 is an upgrade in every single way possible. I loved the Ranger but after owning the ZR2 now for 6 months there isn't a single thing I miss about the Ranger.
Does Richard have IG or other social channels? I have a same gen ZR2 diesel (assuming his rig is the one I think it is) and I'd love to ask him about long-term/hig-mileage things. I'm at 135k on my 2019 ZR2 diesel.
not to sound to harsh but you need to listen to your wife more. a couple of times while she was still speaking you drove ahead and basically just cut her off mid sentence. and you deviated from the line she was trying to spot you on.
It happens. We usually are pretty good with our communication and spotting just the few "instances" you refer to are a very small percentage of what you actually see 👍
We always had a rule: no one spots unless it’s asked for. Too many people rely on someone else and don’t learn their vehicles. Majority of what they were on didn’t need a spotter and he’s got cameras in all directions. Spotting that stuff was overkill imo
Glad the YT algorithm found your channel. Just watched the Mojavi desert trip and now get to enjoy my old home state.
Welcome! Glad UA-cam is finally working somewhat in my favor 🤣
