First time watching a video from you. Great job showing people How easy this is to do and for being transparent
You never know if your watching a fitness video until you see Greg's comment
Yep just saw his the rock video on 6000 calories a day
@@Texanscout426 its funny how much videos he watches from less populair youtubers
Hey Greg 😭
Thanks for stopping by brother, I appreciate you
His whole freaking channel is dedicated to transparency. What a legend 👏.
That’s a great word to describe what I’m trying to achieve! Transparency. Cheers.
@@BenEcho 😊🥰👍
@@BenEcho Cheers Ben . 👍
My man said frigging, never say that again
@@Kyluie why? Is that a bad word? If it is a bad word then tell me I'll edit it . I just don't know that is .
Honestly such a sick video and trust me the tanning is addictive as a fellow naturally pale guy😂
Haha yeah brother I feel your struggle. I’m enjoying this tan a little too much 😅
Mr Joe Fazer you do that a lot my guy
Thoughts on melanotan 2?
I have yet to research it properly. I know it works but does it increase skin cancer risk? 👀
@@Tom17ire it's illegal in a lot of countries, and only made in underground labs
I wish they had a reverse tan for those of us that are too dark, lol.
This is absolutely nuts! I experienced this first hand. People always told me I had a great physique but when I was standing there in the mirrors like really?! I was very insecure. I got a professional photo shoot done with all this tricks this video explains, lighting, tanning, dehydration and a pump before the shoot. Low and behold, I looked as good as any fitness influencer. Social media deceives your own perception of yourself to quite a dramatic effect. Great video 👍
and that leads people to body dysmorphic disorder, specially the sub-type which is the bigorexia in which you think you are not muscular enough
@@marcosladarense People need to stop making excuses for themselves. You have to learn how to deal with things, accept your personal limitations and be comfortable with who you are.
There will always be something that makes you feel bad or lesser so you have to become strong mentally and emotionally otherwise it doesn't matter you will always have something bringing you down.
@@camerons6859 , MENTAL disorders are unbalanced receptors/hormones, but you, undergraduated from UA-cam Ivy League, knows more than the experts. When you get cancer or any physical disease, don't take medications, just meditate and have a positive mindset.
@@marcosladarense I have suffered from depression due to a chemical imbalance for over 20 years so I speak from experience. It's not easy changing your mentality but until you stop making excuses for yourself your just in a loop. Although medication helped solve my depression I still had to change my mentality and view of the world as well overcome many fears. You will never over come your problems until you take personal ownership and responsibility of them. You can't expect or wait for the world to change to solve your problem.
I'm not referring to you by the way but anyone. Mental issues are very hard to overcome but the cold hard truth is you have to overcome them personally because your the only person who can solve them in the end.
Yass I 100% agree, that's how I've been healing from bullying trauma and the depression and anxiety I gained from it. People need to start doing internal work before blaming others for not doing the work for them. Agree 100% I love this mentality. Be a victor not a victim 👏🏼
Ben always cares about his community! Such an awesome dude 👏💪
I appreciate you brother!
Thank you for doing this. I see a lot of videos that focus on female influencers and how they "cheat"/improve their looks with these kind of tricks, but very few videos focus on male influencers and lord knows boys and men need to see this sorta thing. Thanks!
As a female I trust more male influencers then female..those woman are al fake and Is not good for younger girls.
Great video and examples, always something to keep in mind. Also, your pump is life changing.
Also also, 0:15 😂💀
💀😭
Hey Browney. I am a big fan of your videos. You make amazing content. Well done
Cheers man! Yeah im stoked with how well i respond to a good pump.
hahah 😉
Yo man...😃😄
0:14 n i like it🥵😂🖖
The tongue makes it so much better too😂😂
I feel like everyone who works out knows this already simply thanks to gym lighting + pump but it’s a great thing to show to anyone who doesn’t or has only just started training and is feeling down about not making progress like those insta pics. (Before you even mention PED’s etc most of them are on)
I really don’t know lol and I don’t care about being shredded I just workout to feel good and wear my size and just have fun
I didn’t know, I figured some did it, not everyone, my trainer want to do a before and after - obviously the before was the first week and before we started the work out - the after was 3 months later and at the end of arms and shoulders day with a serious pump - I joked with him about it being unfair that I had a pump going - he said pretty much everyone does it this way - I IMMEDIATELY believed him and in his defense, why would he put himself at a disadvantage for marketing - for me personally- any friends or family that me a comment to me about it I warned them that it was immediate post work out - I don’t blame my trainer one bit and he is awesome and we have made a ton of progress and I found the photos to be motivating - in fact I’ll take a quick post workout photo every 1-2 months if I am feeling like I am not making progress to help with motivation
But this is a good service to let people who don’t know to know this - it’s better for people to know they are not comparing apples to apples but apples to oranges - people don’t just walk around looking like that normally lol
2:36 when you want to get that right hand pump as fast as POSSIBLE
Man thanks a lot you brought light to the insta blinded generation. This video literally helped lot of Teenage from being anxious about their physique even when they are in shape & also u saved many frm depression. Thanks to you Mate, u helped the community by bringing the truth.
This guy manage to be very honest and yet so encouraging at the same time!
Thanks Ben for shining a light on this and explaining the tricks. I've always wondered how the 'instagrammers' happen to show off such 'transformations' at the expense of my insecurities. Can't thank you enough for the advice.
While all the things shown in this video may be true, the transformations shown are usually way more to do with actual transformations. They all started off at a similar point with many others, skinny, fat, etc, and they built their way up to what they are now. And while in the photos they may have used these tricks, their muscle mass, and their story is very much real
You still look good before all of it. I started working out after a heart attack scare and never looked back since. Oddly enough I'm very thankful for that experience. I still have ways to go but no more of the past.
I also realised how the lighting can completely change your perception. I'm a quite skinny guy, I have a very boyish body, but in my students room there's a tall LED on the wall, and when I stand on the side and look at the mirror I'm like ... damn. It brings out all the little bumps which make you look muscular, even for skinny guys like me
So good, well explained and great things to remember
"Nerd neck"
Looks at his neck posture...
I feel attacked.
But, thank you for this very wholesome video.
I am all here for disillusionment of the unnatural body standards social media puts on men too! So few people talk about this and major props to you for having the balls to call them out on it! So many guys would rather just use one of other variations and love to pretend they always look that way than actually come out right and forward with it. :)
I am so glad i found this channel, really inspired me to double my efforts when working out. And the quality is just Amazing. I literally watched like 95% of your Videos in like one day, cause i was so hooked. Keep up the great Work! Greetings from Germany!
ayoo
it's Elon Musk's son smh
This is great! Thank you for making this and helping people realize how important these 4 factors are. As a trainer, I am constantly trying to explain this to people. I'll be using this video as reference.
This is a plus content man. You get the Holy Trinity of "comment sub like" for sure.
Also if a video sponsor is scouting- I would absolutely TRUST this guy's advice based on the content shown
Thanks legend! I appreciate you
I really enjoy that you include posture and exercise, which is a great way to start building self confidence. The fake tan is also a good go-to, as a child I was teased about being pale to a point where I used to tan way too much and now have skin damage. Always wear sunscreen.. But honestly.. After seeing how great you look and feel after the fake tan. I'm keen to try it.
Fake tan is usually full of toxic chemicals. It's best to stay away form this stuff.
Sensible sun exposure is where it's at 👍🏻
I am grateful for the huge amount of transparency you are give to us! 🤩 Keep up the good work
Dude this is absolutely fantastic to see - my self perception yo-yo’s like crazy when I’m at home, the gym, out of the shower, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Seeing the process makes it that much easier to be forgiving to myself and keep pushing myself without kicking myself daily for not looking like one of these insane models
Posture, lighting, tan and pump. I'll keep these in mind. I am surprised how much these factors affect how you look. You went from alright to wow in a day.
Amazing video again Ben, it's incredible that so much difference can be achieved by external factors. I.m.o you went from great natural lean physique to, damn this dude might be light juicing. Great insights.
I'm not a fitness guy. This channel is so good. Debunking all aspects of toxic fitness culture while being relentlessly positive and uplifting. You. Rock.
I get that insta pictures can make you feel down about yourself but it’s not toxic and if you think about it the right way you can use them to be more motivated to get steonger
@@alecdombkowski5849 What's toxic is showing a perfect picture and not being open about what it takes to get there, including many aspects that have nothing to do with fitness. Nothing wrong with showing something you're proud of, just be real about what's going on.
@@capitalistraven okay how is that toxic? showing the perfect picture of yourself is not toxic, it seems like you have a problem with the overall fitness culture, not pictures on social media
@@cashnordam Both actually, but this particular video was about deceptive presentation so I focused on that. The key, as many have noted here, is transparency. Show a perfect pic, no probs. If *all* you show is perfect pics and never draw attention to the fact that those perfect pics are done with the tricks shown here and more and you're being misleading in a very negative way. Real self improvement is dirty, hard, excruciatingly slow, has ups and downs and differing levels of success. Fitness influencers tend not to show any of this
1. Thank you for this. I was feeling down about myself and then I saw this and it lifted my spirits
2. You’re looking great! Never feel bad about having that body.
Ben be like "with a decent body"
Meanwhile me "nah...nvm"😵
The oppression over a man to get a “perfect body” is insane and this video was amazing because it proved a lot of things.
Still nobody will give a fuck. Society acts like just woman have struggles.
"Oppression"?
Go change your tampon
@@jihigh482 The heck, friend? Where did I compare ANYTHING to what a person with uterus pass through or a woman? Don’t play the fool because I don’t actually like clowns.
Yes, i love that he teaches that everybody has opression over their bodies and how we look, needing always to fit in a standar that its not real
I think society's obsession is more accurate than using the term oppression
Thanks Ben for the video, I just found your channel (also considering your channel because of your honesty). I struggle with it the same sometimes...
Oh, hallo! Lustig, dich hier zu sehen. Brauchst dir aber keine Sorgen zu machen, du schaust super aus, Marvin 🤗
I've taught my children as they had asked me. Why other people must stare at them.
I've said it is because they are comparing themselves to you. The more you compare yourself to other people, your psychological health will deteriorate.
Be happy with who you are because your true happiness comes with accepting yourself. Stuff what other people think believe or expect you to be.
Eye opening to say the least. Thanks for helping people see an honest example of what actually goes into a physique related photo or video posted on social media or UA-cam.
Great video. Down to earth man. Keep up the good work.
you are great Ben

Like the style of your video making, like the sense of humor throughout your vids, and appreciate your messages all around! Keep up the good work.!
This was so informative in such short minutes, I had to subscribe immediately after 30 seconds.
Though I like how the video is straightforward and easy to do. I don't think this will apply to me. I'm literally much hairy than Wolverine all over the body.
I've tried waxing but it only gave me bad results. Same thing with laser treatments, "sorry sir, this will cost you this much to treat the hair on every part of your body just on this first session."
Honestly, your muscles look excellent without the "tanning" stuff! I see that body builders put too much tanning stuff to the point they actually look ridiculous!
Some of them look darker than the black body builders lmao
@@moonie1825 True!
Sure they look ridiculous but they look way bigger or at least way more defined with it... which is how you win most bodybuilding competitions.
You got a new subscriber my man. Loved this video. I just started the gym and was feelin pretty insecure comparing my physique with the ones on Instagram. You made me feel confident. Thank you.....:)
A great video and hopefully a real eye opener to people who obsess with how people look on social media etc wishing they looked perfect like that all the time.
Love your video and it helps alot!!
Glad I could help
So we are just gonna ignore the way this man shaked that tanning can?
i was thinking the same thing 😆
Dude 10/10 video, I suffer from the poison of false advertising on social media. Keep up the good work!
Yes, the light is very important.
I usually like myself the most when there's none.
This is my case. When I'm in the gym, I like the way i look. It looks nice. Then i come home and first thing I do, is to look at the mirror. It's like I'm seeing an entirely different person.
😂I know that feeling
🤣
2:37 looks like other thing😂😂😂

One hell of a wake-up call. Thank you for sharing this with all of us! 👍👍

It works! I tried to change lighting on my man boobs, now I look like Pamela Anderson!
Hahah congratulations. Glad I could help
Now that's some unique content right here!
Great video! I like that you didn't just show a before/after, but also showed your process
The way he shakes it up 😂😂
Really useful tip for ectomorph and mesomorph body types! I don't think this applies to endomorph. I mean I can tan my belly and add more light if you like but I still look better in the dark. Fortunately for me (and probably everyone else) I don't do shirtless selfies.
How does all that work actually? I researched a bit about mesomorph etc body types a while ago but never really 100% got it
@@blondie9909 hey buddy I have a basic understanding but I am no expert I would encourage you to do your own research on body types there are the 3 main categories so it shouldn't take too long to know more than I do about it!
@@David-qn9wu yeah i figured as much was just wondering if someone explained it in a short casual way maybe it could click in my head but i'll look into it
Body types are pseudoscience. Here's a good video on it: ua-cam.com/video/B0cTrSlFAT0/v-deo.html
Basically body types are a super oversimplification and most of it really just depends on your nutrition and training. You can easily be many body types throughout your life time just by improving or worsening your diet and training. Of course there is the genetic component but that is in no way described by the body type "hypothesis."
@@harrymkwii that's your opinion, be careful throwing that around as fact, most of us will have a super skinny friend that can eat and eat and won't gain weight and we all know someone that looks at a slice of cake and gains 5 lbs. We can all observe the results in daily life there are many things that can determine how you look or how your metabolism acts but to keep it simple it's easy to categorise body type in these 3 categories. I didn't once say you can't change or alter your body type with varying levels of success but the fact still remains most people fit into one of these categories. Unless you're slim, in your early 20s, work out a lot, eat well and think everyone that doesn't is fat and lazy and they choose that 😂 then I will excuse you for being young and dumb. When I was in my 20s young and slim I eat well worked out a lot and was very fit, Thai boxing 3 times a week 2 hour sessions plus running on my off days and other exercises however after years of this, I still did not have a 6 pack. Why? because I am endomorph and cutting weight or looking pealed or shredded does not happen for me no matter how well I eat or how much I exercised. Its possible to achieve but way way harder than for other body types. However I can carry and build more mass than other body types, if I want to gain 20lbs I can do so with relative ease where my 10 stone pal that could really use the extra mass cannot. It would be possible for him to gain mass but it would be much harder for him than for I. With that concluded love yourself for who you are and don't let social media or public opinion tell you what you should look like. Be strong happy and healthy whatever your size ❤️
Awesome transformation! Time to sell a supplement that says you can get the body of your dreams in 2 weeks! (I kid). Thanks for highlighting the smoke and mirrors of many fitness influencers.
He looks hotter as the pale white guy.
Epic! Seen some of your videos before and really liked it. This time... Subscribed! 💪🏼

4:28 his power lever is over 9000!!
Ben you the biggest influencer out there
Yeah there is nothing wrong with influencers and nothing wrong with taking photos like in this video. I just want to make people aware of what actually happens behind the scenes so they stop comparing themselves so much :)
0:14 well i'm looking for Browney's cmnt...🤫😂😂😂💜
🧸
thank you for making this video , keep up with the kickass content Ben.
Good to see people starting to expose the fakeness instead of capitalize on it. Most of those before and after pics for supplements are taken the same day or the next day. Always used my knowledge to help prove those that seem too perfect are just that. I could wake up looking bloated with no definition and by lunch look like the cover of muscle and fitness. Let's praise those that worked to achieve goals not just manipulated a photo shoot.
A good one is also shaving. hair hides veins and definition.
Thanks again for the great content mate 💪🏼
First video I see from you and I’m hooked! I love these kinds of content. Subscribed! 🤙👊🏻👏🏼
I’ve just done 30 mins of push up exercises following a tik tok guy, an 8.5 k jog and 30 mins abs exercises from a different tik tok guy and I feel like absolute crap about myself after the ab exercises I was hopeless at them. I should feel proud of myself but I despise myself now. There’s some nuggets of great info on social media but overall ..my god it is poison for the mind. Please do something for people starting exercise. You cut through the crap and seem to want to help people not stroke your own ego. Great video.
Is anyone else wanting to try this..? No? Just me? Fine.. I’ll do it myself 😏
Love the videos! Always super engaging and entertaining to the max 🤣
Haha dude I’d love to see you max pump and with a tan. Supersaiyan
How do I stay motivated when exercising. I watched your stay motivated video but what if I can't imagine. When I close my eyes I see black. I thought everyone saw it until my sister said don't you hate it when you can't get to sleep because all you do is see pictures. I thought she was crazy for saying that but I researched it is most people can. Some can't though. How do I stay motivated when I can't picture my success
Don't know if this will work for you, but try writing it down somewhere, and read it when you need motivation. Literally put it in front of your face when you're doing pushups, squats or whatever.. Keep it visible while you workout!
Hope you find a way to get after it!
@@lumarious thank you so much. I will try that. Thanks mate
the real success means that there is no such thing as motivation, there is discipline. Simple as that, you train your discipline and you do it, you get up and do it. Just like a day at job.. there are days we prefer to be home but we still go to work, simply because we have to do it. Want to do or not, it doesn´t matter, you just do it. Nike slogan been saying that for years.. "Just do it"

First time I saw your videos, and I definitely like it bro. I prefer being more athletic than bulky, and you physique is bang on.
Quality as always. This needs more viewers!!!
At 0:10 . Any one knows the movie name?
first
The crazy thing is, outside of the pump, the after is how many people would see you in person. As you said, what the camera captures is only as good as the light you put in front of it. And the display matters too, but the human eye moves to capture more data from different angles, which the camera can't really do. So, our eyes and cameras see somewhat different things. I like to mess with people by telling them that the mid looking photos are what they actually look like, and what we see with our eyes is photoshopped by our brains.
It's a very interesting subject. What we see and how it appeals to us depends on how well our brains stitch together the images received from our eyes, how reliable those images from our eyes even are, and even how we're feeling at the time. Can we really believe our eyes?
Your video just reminded me of that. #natureislit
2 other HUGE elements - camera angle/height and your own posing, big gains to be had in those! Great vid💪
This is fantastic, thank you for sharing! This and the lack of transparency with PED,s
Brilliant. Editing skills is getting better every video. Keep up the great work!
Damn, thanks. This helps with my mental state a lot. I keep going to the gym trying to compare myself to influencers, glad to know there are other factors as well. Phew
02:35 - 02:40 😂🤣 Shake it up. Get it nice and foamy
Love this video ! Knowing this changes your whole perspective 👊🏼🙌🏼
Great video, just add that posture change for the picture includes abs contraction (everybody does it) and the strongest sources of light must come from the same direction to gradually 'reveal' the shape of the muscles.
I think that people don’t emphasize enough on how important it is to have a proper posture. For me personally, I feel a lot more energetic, a lot more confident, my mind and muscle connection feels a lot better too.
Hahaha loved your video man. And there's so much to it...
When I was like 32 or 33 years old I myself noticed if there is like only 1 light source and it on the ground pointing at you at a 45 (ish) degree angle it makes you look way more buff than you actually but I haven't tried it out with "optimal lighting" where you have multiple light sources around you (just like you would in a foto shoot probably).
And dont forget the filters bro. I took this picture with the one light source from below and put on 2 filters and I looked like I'm shredded af.. Even though I'd consider myself being "in good shape for my age".
This was the moment I realized that there is A LOT of cheating going on concerning the "fitness level" of ppl on the internet ;)
1:38 "the lighting might be extremely average"... Yeah... Makes sense
Also morning vs evening, huge difference there. Another tip to add to your list - take pictures on an empty stomach! Great video!
Thank you so much, I always look in the mirror and I always want to change, thanks for making me realize this.
