Wow I'll bet! GBR is a decent but sometimes mediocre Natural Wonder if the city has nothing else going for it. As Spain though, it's pretty insane!
GBR spain has to be one of the craziest starts. 1k gold instantly has so much snowball potential

I recently got back into civ 5 again. I am a little late on the return, but I got the sudden urge after me and some of my friends decided to play vs eachother again last month. I started watching civ 5 guides and stumbled upon you and FilthyRobots old videoes, and I've been watching them to help me relearn the game. I had never touched any difficulty higher than Prince difficulty prior to my return to the game. I've now beaten one game vs AI on difficulty 7 after watching your videos, and I've been trying to win a Deity game for almost a week straight now. I decided to get the safe file listed in the description, thinking it was an easy win (went for science victory), but I lost diplomatic victory to Brazil... I didn't follow your gameplay step by step, I just rushed the natural wounders and thought I had the game in the box.
But what I wanted to say is your videos are helping me improve my deity games vs the AI.
Haha, nice map, even the Fountain of Youth becomes a workable tile with +8 Faith 😂
I love Spain, when you get a good start you can really snowball. And in defence of the conquistador unique unit, it is a cavalry unit and it has no negative bonus when attacking a city, making it one of if not the best unit in the game at taking cities (considering you need a melee unit to actually take a city)
10:48 in the same vein of king solomon mines being like having a salt tile, at the end of the day lake vic might as well be two free civil service tiles, granted it is also a lake so it does make civil service tiles around it, but later on it becomes a tad less relevant compared to the faith ones or king solomon mines who really help out until the very last turn. still, wont contest that lake vic is incredible. i played a game recently where i found lake vic in the middle of the desert (no hills) and really went out of my way to put a settler there so nobody else would settle it, like 10 turns later sweden shows up and absolutely demolishes the city lol, even the ai thinks its good
I know Civ V has lost its youtube appeal but I played this map this week and it took me until turn 197 to get the science victory with Brazil threatening a diplomatic victory, a full 64 turns behind your win. Thanks for keeping the map downloadable btw. I'm sure life got a bit busier for you after covid and other stuff was more important. It's a shame you stopped though. I'd still like to see a deity game played through with domination the only victory condition allowed and on a huge continents map playing at standard pace. I know that is a difficult proposition but if you ever feel the want to play again and post the play on your channel I'd love to see it. Consider that a challenge :D Good luck to you , you entertained me during covid and beyond.
Of course, I just had to try the map myself, never have Deity been so ridiculously easy😂

Edit: I even played on standard speed
El Dorado as Spain almost feels like cheating lol

Hi! You need to put it into your saves folder. Have you messed with that before?
It's usually in \Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves\single
You should then be able to see it in the "load game" singleplayer menu, with the same name as the file name
I once rigged a Spain game and still lost :( It was my first Deity game too. After watching a few games here I can see that I moved too slow on some other expansions and that allowed other civs to run away

Yes
No there is no bias for wonders. You can try it yourself if you reload the same map, you'll continually change spawn locations (though other civs have other types of start biases)
Just as Alex says above, there is no bias - this map was simply rolled several times to end up with everything in the perfect location!

@Michał Borzyński 😅 Confirmation bias instead I think haha! It's surprising how often you spawn near natural wonders actually. The difference is, they're all brilliant as Spain, whereas with other civs some can be downright garbage

Haha yeah if you roll for long enough it can be madness! I did play another one before on stream (also submitted by Alex Sacher) that was even more epic, but sadly the video recording of the game came out too low quality
