Looks like a new release came out a day before this video lol, you should be able to use the most recent version of TWiLight Menu ++ with the wide screen hack now. The process for everything is still the same as the video except you may notice your short 1 file. That's fine and you don't need it on the latest release 🤙
@@BelowAverageGaming I tried the widescreen thing and it didn’t work for me on the newest firmware even after I followed the instructions. Should I delete the TWIL stuff and start from scratch? Edit: I figured it out; had to reset with Lumas to enable external firms and modules
I installed according to the instructions with the latest christmas TWiLight Menu and I can say it works! The only thing that was different is were you are dragging files to the cia folder. Instead of 3 files there is only 2 to move. When you extract the latest build of TWiLight the Game booter.cia file is not there, but everything ran fine with out it! Thanks Jeremy! You always make the quality content. There are so many twilight tutorials but you go above and beyond by inlcuding the cheats and a widescreen fix which I was missing out on! Also thanks for being a youtuber that is actually present and offers support in the comment section
This comment :,) Yeah just my luck! I post this and a new release came out the day before haha. At least everything works fine and I didn't have to make any adjustments to the video 🤙
Thank you so much for the video. Was very easy to follow. It's a good thing I read the pinned comment about no longer needing the specific twilight version and decided in using the Valentine's day one. The option for aspect ratio is there but turns out the Yu-Gi-Oh games I had are not part of the list that supports the wide aspect. Still, it's a good thing to have.
Tip for anyone doing this on Mac: In addition to the tip in the pinned comment/description, you've gotta make sure that when you rename the TwlBg file on your SD card, you include the .cxl at the end, or the widescreen patch wont show up! :)
Everything works as planned ! At first, the "Widescreen" option didn't show up. So, I enabled "external firms and modules" on Luma menu and reboot on TWiLight. In Twilight Menu, the Widescreen was active but I still didn't saw the resolution options for the game. I don't know why but when I launched the game, it was with the Widescreen ! Sooo... For anyone, I guess that even if the resolution option isn't showing in the game option when pressing Y, as long as the Widescreen is in the TWiLight menu, it's okay ! 👌 Thanks for your video !
Thank you so much, i had to follow the troubleshooting steps for widescreen but it's working perfectly now, copied my saves from my DS Lite's R4 card too no problem and now have a MUCH more comfortable way to play DS games. Thanks again!
At first I didn't get the screen aspect ratio option to show up. I fixed it by opening the luma configuration screen (holding select on 3ds startup) and enabling "enable loading external firms and modules" and "enable game patching". after that everything worked :)
Wow. I've been wanting to put a couple games I once had but stupidly sold(Force Unleashed, Transformers 2007 Decepticons, Hotel Dusk, Fossil Fighters and Dementium 2). This is a lot easier than I thought it would be. I don't care about the widescreen or cheats. Just wanna re-aquire and preserve my old games
If you have any issues with the widescreen aspect of this, 1. Restart your 3DS while holding SELECT to open the Luma3DS’s configuration menu 2.Enable "external FIRMs and modules" if you do not have it selected already, then press START to save and quit. 3.Then reboot into TWiLight and you should see the option.

@@BelowAverageGaming I ended up finding another way but I still wanna ask how to download a 7zip. Because it gave me the option but when I clicked on it, it showed me a lot of files and idk if I was supposed to download them all or if I was missing something.
So going through all of this, I was able to set it up so that I can change the aspect ratio in twilight menu, and I can see that it's set to 16:10, but for some reason it isn't applying when I launch my games. I'm not sure what the problem is. I have external FIRMs and modules active, I have the folder structure correct, I'm on the current version of Twilight menu (which should work as of today even without the old version), but it still just stays the normal aspect ratio. Any idea if there's an issue with the original 3ds XL that makes this not work?
Super helpful video, really straightforward and made the process easy. Appreciate you man! Quick question though, the cheats i believe aren’t available anymore, would you happen to know if the same one you used in the video is still currently available? if so where should i find them at?

I tested this with a different SD card then when I plugged my main SD card, for some reason it already had the CIAs installed. I guess it saved it to system rather than the SD card. Thought, I was never able to get the wide screen to work. I used the advice of the other commenter on here, to power on the device and hold select and enable the "external FIRMs and modules. Regardless if I do wide screen or regular 4:3 screen, its the same aspect ratio. I have a 3DS XL, and it fills the screen like 80%. It's definitely playable though.

Hi! Just wondering how HGSS as well as BW BW2 are handled for extended playtime sessions with the latest twiilight firmware? Have ya found a proper AP patch that works? The last patcher I found didn't prove successful.😓
I've been fiddling around with white 2 and every time I use the 16:9 option it crashes before i could create my character. i couldn't even save. Trying it with the 4:3 option and so far it has worked perfectly. That might change though.

Followed this guide exactly (minus cheats) but I kept getting the Err Disp error and had to run that TWLFix-CFW because TWL would never launch. I tried to go back after that and redo the compression to get widescreen since I didn't see the option. Files are in the right place. Anyone have a solution?
I did the whole process without the cheats, then went back and added the cheats after a couple days just to try them out. Put it in the extras folder, and they appear on twilight menu and I can “enable” them. When I boot up Pokémon white 2, none of the cheats work when in game.
@@BelowAverageGaming yeah I used the same one you have in the video. It may just be Pokémon white 2 that doesn’t work, honestly didn’t try any other games.
cool ... i found out thru a random youtube version from 8 months ago why the widescreen hack isnt working -.- cause i m on the wrong version edit: you should use a forwarder so you dont have to navigate in to twilight menu. at al, preferable one which uses a CIA file for the 3ds rather than dsi one, they load longer but you have a higher limit for installs
How did you get the dark mode TWiLight menu? Also, I used the troubleshooting steps to get the widescreen hack to show up. Problem is, when I load the game (New Super Mario Bros), it doesn’t load in widescreen. Do you have any ideas to fix this? I am using the latest version of all the software.
The dark mode was probably from the version I downloaded in the video. Not every game works with widesreen, looks like that game in particular needs a patch as well? github.com/DS-Homebrew/TWiLightMenu/blob/master/7zfile/3DS%20-%20CFW%20users/Games%20supported%20with%20widescreen.txt
This is cool but in HeartGold/SoulSilver, playing in widescreen is pretty unpleasant. Horizontal movement causes a lot of flickering, I guess from pixels being duplicated as the game isn't actually running at that higher resolution.
GPU scaling makes it less jarring but I think it makes the image too soft, which is already blurry from being displayed on the 3DS. My hunch is that the game probably just looks best on a DSi XL, as that just as sharp but bigger than on a 3DS XL in pixel-perfect mode.
Everything works except one thing : when I play in widescreen, the bottom screen gets dim, darker, but it gets brighter anew when it return it to 4:3 ratio, That's not a big deal but if I can fix it, that would be perfect, Does someone else got that ?
So do some games unable to use the wide-screen feature or is it the patch that I downloaded? (the same one on the video) because I've been able to play some games like Dragon Quest V in wide screen but other games Like New supper Mario bros and FFT won't go wide-screen even when that is on the options

I've been fiddling around with white 2 and every time I use the 16:9 option it crashes before i could create my character. i couldn't even save. Trying it with the 4:3 option and so far it has worked perfectly. That might change though.
is the widescreen feature a global one? or do you need to go into each game you want to be widescreen? Thanks!
When i try to use select it doesnt load the cheat even tho i selected it on any of the games any work around inhave the latest updates and etc
what are the .ips files for in luma? I did the patch already
Can you use pokemon bank / pokemon transporter?
hello, sorry to bother in an old video, but is there anyway to have the nds games on the main screen?
Huh my widescreen isn’t working, the option to change aspect ratio is there but it doesn’t change the screen when I play
That's probably more convenient for those who don't want to play from a DS cart.
Thank you for the video..helped alot..
They have a newer version on their site now?..does that have the Widescreen fix in it already??
Yes it does!
Does this have multiplayer functionality over internet? Like, can I trade my pokemon? Also, is there gba functionality as well?
Thanks now I can add every ds Pokémon game lmao
I think I like using Acekard because the new3dsxl is exposed and needs a dust cover lol
The widescreen didn't work. Is there something I possibly missed? I promise I followed everything.
If you have any issues with the widescreen aspect of this,
1. Restart your 3DS while holding SELECT to open the Luma3DS’s configuration menu
2.Enable "external FIRMs and modules" if you do not have it selected already, then press START to save and quit.
3.Then reboot into TWiLight and you should see the option.
The option was also not showing up for me and this fixed it thank you! How ever I realized the widescreen is only applying to my Pokémon games
I activated the external firms in Luma but widescreen still hasnt worked. I followed the steps too.
Followed this guide exactly (minus cheats) but I kept getting the Err Disp error and had to run that TWLFix-CFW because TWL would never launch. I tried to go back after that and redo the compression to get widescreen since I didn't see the option. Files are in the right place. Anyone have a solution?
Did you try the troubleshooting steps in the description?
oh lol i didnt see, thanks so much🙏
Does anyone know if i can connect my gen4 pokemon games from twilightmenu++ to battle revolution on the wii?
I did the whole process without the cheats, then went back and added the cheats after a couple days just to try them out. Put it in the extras folder, and they appear on twilight menu and I can “enable” them. When I boot up Pokémon white 2, none of the cheats work when in game.
Are you using a cheat database? Not all work with every game. You may have to narrow down your cheats to a specific game
@@BelowAverageGaming yeah I used the same one you have in the video. It may just be Pokémon white 2 that doesn’t work, honestly didn’t try any other games.
@@BelowAverageGaming appreciate the response regardless!
Try giving silver or gold a shot and seeing if you have any issues
@@BelowAverageGaming I figured it out, just had to switch the mode to ds and all the cheats worked perfectly
hey! i'm hoping you see this:
i did everything but everytime i try to open twilight it gives me an error code. what do i do?
Delete and reinstall
i installed twilight through the universal updater. I do not see widescreen options. I enabled that setting thing in Luma.. any ideas what to do?
Did you download the patch too?
@@BelowAverageGaming yup, moved it over and everything
I would delete and reinstall, try doing it on a PC instead
cool ... i found out thru a random youtube version from 8 months ago why the widescreen hack isnt working -.- cause i m on the wrong version
edit: you should use a forwarder so you dont have to navigate in to twilight menu. at al, preferable one which uses a CIA file for the 3ds rather than dsi one, they load longer but you have a higher limit for installs
Great tutorial! If only it wasn't such a pain to get the SD card out of a new3DS, lmao
Use ftpd
Is there a cheat database for GBA games too? I've installed Pokemon Emerald and kind of want to do the special events too
This is cool but in HeartGold/SoulSilver, playing in widescreen is pretty unpleasant. Horizontal movement causes a lot of flickering, I guess from pixels being duplicated as the game isn't actually running at that higher resolution.
Weird. I didn't have any issues
GPU scaling makes it less jarring but I think it makes the image too soft, which is already blurry from being displayed on the 3DS. My hunch is that the game probably just looks best on a DSi XL, as that just as sharp but bigger than on a 3DS XL in pixel-perfect mode.
Everything works except one thing : when I play in widescreen, the bottom screen gets dim, darker, but it gets brighter anew when it return it to 4:3 ratio,
That's not a big deal but if I can fix it, that would be perfect,
Does someone else got that ?
I haven't seen anyone else with that issue, Perhaps try downloading a newer/older version of twilight
@@BelowAverageGaming Thanks for your reply, finally works after a complete reinstall :)
So do some games unable to use the wide-screen feature or is it the patch that I downloaded? (the same one on the video) because I've been able to play some games like Dragon Quest V in wide screen but other games Like New supper Mario bros and FFT won't go wide-screen even when that is on the options
Yes there are certain games that don't work with widescreen, I believe there should be a text list of them in the downloads
@@BelowAverageGaming wow that was a quick response shows your a great with your followers.
Thank you for the video and response
Hope you have a great day.
1 insert the ds game
2 boot it up
3 launch the game
how to add the nds/gba game title in the home screen without navigating to twilight menu app? if you know can you create a how to video for that as well? not sure if it is a different app setup or only in the twilight menu functionality.
The most you can do is create a forwarder which still uses twilight
@@BelowAverageGaming thank you so much for the response, so much appreciated. i will research about that forwarder. Have a good day!
Quick question. When I go into the twilight game menu (After launching a DS game), clicking quit game sends me back to the Home Screen rather than back into the Twilight Menu. Should I change to the newest release (I’m on 25.5.0) or is this something else?
You could try the newest release but I doubt that's the issue since it worked for me in the video.
Thanks for the response! Great video btw
i just bought the r4 card for my new 3ds xl whats the better way to play using this method or the r4 card?
I don't know much about the r4. I heard they're not the best way to do it.
Why not do it with an SD?
@@BelowAverageGaming the r4 is better cause then you can use 2 sd cards and have the internal one for all 3ds and homebrew
really like your video so far, but I am at minute 4:06 and I don,t have a roms folder can someone help me
There's no roms folder in the video either? So what's the problem?
@@BelowAverageGaming from 4:00 to 4:06 you said we need to put a rom in and in your sd cart was a ordner called roms which you opened and then put a rom in the nds folder which was in the roms folder
And I don't have the roms folder on my sd cart
Ohhhhh.
That roms folder is inside the twilight menu zip. 2:34
If you don't have that then try a different release of the twilight menu
@@BelowAverageGaming ok thanks
What if i already installed the twilight menu ++ from the universal updater?
After using universal updater to update TW Menu (no patch available as it's discontinued) I reset into Luma and enabled external firms but still did not have the option to change the aspect ratio for widescreen. There is nothing below the option "Bootstrap".
Try doing it manually and not through the updater. The one in the updater sounds like it's not compatible
excellent video! Do you know how to get the nds games on the 3ds homescreen?
The only thing that can be done really is creating a forwarder
wiki.ds-homebrew.com/ds-index/forwarders
@@BelowAverageGaming Thanks for the tip. Works well but doesn't register the widescreen patch in the games unfortunately.
Nothing's ever easy! Lol
I have a problem with full screen, some games works with full screen like soulsilver but some other don't (they just stay in 4:3 when I lunch the game), I tested it with a pokemon ranger and a pokemon mystery dungeon game and they don't show in full screen
any idea on how to fix that problem?
Not every game works with wide screen
question, where do you get the games from? id like to grab pokemon black or rhythm heaven ds but i am not sure which website to visit
Vimm's Lair works. FYI people are very sensitive about saying where to get roms but idc lol
does the wifi work with this? i mean like the union room with say another 3ds and physical cartridge, i followed another tutorial and can't get the wifi to work
Having an issue we’re I get a red screen after the intro for Pokémon black. Any advice ??? I read up on it and has something to do with AP Patching
If it has something to do with the patch, don't use the patch?
