A few tips from someone who owns and maintains these cars . 1- You could use a screwdriver to press the valve on the oil filter before removing the housing . it would not make that mess 2- Replace the o-ring before installing the new filter 3- Don't use solvent on plastic pieces. 4- You need to fill the housing with fresh oil (2/3) before putting it back to minimize wear on the engine. 5-Crank the engine really quick and stop before starting a couple of times so the oil circulates a bit before starting.
Well said ..i just purchased my golf and while i was watching this video i did question the skills of the guy doing the oil change ...your comment is pretty much exactly what i was thinking...DONT TAKE YR CAR TO THIS GUY
Thank you very much for the additional tips. I have already bought the filter housing drain tool before reading this. shucks. But very helpful and appreciated.
Excellent, thanks! The parts guy at my Audi dealer said they use a vacuum system and never unscrew the plug, but told me if I'm doing this at home (this weekend!) you should get a new plug/washer. They are sold as a unit for $6.
The plastic center piece came out of the housing along with the filter, and I didnt notice it- about 20 miles later I got a "low oil pressure" warning and was shitting little green apples as I limped it back to the shop- luckily I was only a few blocks away. For something that is so critical to your oil pressure, I sure wish that little piece of shit was more than just a snap fit...
@@elderoo8483 The High Working Viscosity is specifically to prevent premature turbocharger wear as the entire device runs on heat and high-pressure oil seals at the compressor shaft. 0W40 makes more sense than 5W30. I’d stick with 5W40.
Hmmm, putting the gasket in place with a 'pick' tool after the filter is installed can damage the filter as the pick did stab the filter on this video does show. Please be careful when installing Oil Filters

Thank you for sharing your knowledge 👍
Does the small tag on the gasket point towards the engine or towards the ground?
can anyone tell me if you have to toque the air filter to the right tightness

Is it really ok to put solvent inside the filter housing? Won't that mess with the viscosity of the oil?
When you gonna have back in stock RUP 5w40?
And pls work a little bit on the price !!!!!!
That had to have been one of the sloppiest oil changes I have ever witnessed. Top notch oil and filter and a half assed mechanic using them.
5w40 for 2.0 TFSI?
john alexandru I’d say 5w30 personally, unless it’s a real high miler
Or a car thats only driven in summer.
I use 0W40 in mine he in Texas.
In Eastern Europe only 0W-40, in summer time 5W-40.

What kind of oil should go in the vehicle
NEVER DRY START THE ENGINE unless you want it to wear out.. Use the starter to build up oil pressure and to bleed air out before starting the engine.
theres supposed to be a spring and little valve thing that goes in before the that filter bracket
good video but where is your gloves ???

Patriotic Oath are you taking about the Rubber ring? Should I put this in place before the filter when I change my oil?
@@18sri1 yes, he should have mounted before putting the filter on.
