This show is absolutely one of the greatest shows out there. But it is also hands down the best TV adaptation of a game that has ever been made, and the way they set all of this up with this 3-minute intro with John Hannah is an absolute masterpiece in and of itself.

Im not a gamer, knew nothing about the show, usually have zero interest in Zombie shows. This, for me, was one of the best shows of the last decade. Looking forward to seeing what you make of it as we go forward.

Trust me it gets even better. The second game is a genuine masterpiece across all media, if they do it even half the justice it deserves (and it is being made into the next two seasons of the show it’s that vast of a story to tell), it’ll be one for the ages. So happy seeing this fantastic story reach new audiences.

@@DavidHunteri promise the game was also much better in terms of story telling and world building, this is a great show and so many details that they got right, but so many that they have just completely omitted and had chances to expand upon and kinda didnt. They strayed too far from source material.

This story, this cast, these characters are so great! Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey have amazing chemistry--all of those Emmy nominations are so deserved! ❤❤❤
Joel’s watch is broken from when the soldier shot at him and Sarah. It’s a constant reminder of what he’s lost-his watch, and life was shattered that day. 💔
The moment Joel was brought back to losing Sarah and lunged to save Ellie…you can already see that love there. Can’t wait to experience this show with you!

This is a great show! I typically hate zombie/parasite themed stories, they freak me out on an entirely different level, but the last of us games and shows were both worth gutting through. I think at the least you'll have a good appreciation for what they've accomplished here, and I hope you cone to enjoy it!

The premise of Cordyceps infecting humans actually inspired two different minds to make stories
The Book _The Girl With All The Gifts_ came out at the same time as the game _The Last of Us_
The Last of Us would have been first since it took years to make a game while writing was a shorter timeline but since the Game was made in secret the author couldn't have known about it when he started the book.

When/if you go back to the opening scene in Boston, there is a poster on the wall about how the infection is spread and the timeline of how long it takes for the infection to spread in the body where the infected person is no longer in control. The good news is that the Cordyceps fungus only mutated to infect humans.

That opening interview is one of my favourite scenes it was absolutely bang on in terms of setting up a plausible scenario and it's super disconcerting it followed almost exactly to what happened currently lol it was a superb bit of writing for the live action show.. it wasn't written in the game narrative spooky coincidence lol but based in science and that's very thoughtful to me.

Where most people miss the story is that the apocalypses has come and gone. Its over and for humans this is "The Last of Us". The big story is about what happens when 80% of humanity is gone and the collapse of the rest of humanity is just a matter of time. Inside of that narrative you have the story of Joel and Ellie. The TV show does a good job of adapting the game story without doing a scene by scene copy. The big story moments are in both the game and the show and the same questions are still there about what is happening to humanity. What choices you make is how the game progresses. The story creator is very open with how and why he created this story the way he does. The story has been made with the Israeli-Arab conflict in mind and questions Neil Druckmann had for his father with various situation that came up and how you make choices and the cost of those choices in light of so much opposition. Craig Mazin really did take that story and made it suitable for a viewing audience.

I am the same way about hurting kids or animals so, I know exactly how you feel and that's why I was apprehensive about watching this series also. My son is gamer and he talked me into watching the whole thing cause I wasn't going to (because of the beginning) & he said, "mom...you'll love it, trust me." He was right. There are some smaller story lines in this show that are absolutely beautiful and I am into it now. Looking forward to the next season

Understand your reservations on this one, but I also think you're really going to like it. There's some really great storytelling here.
"I hate the way it makes me feel but I appreciate how well it's done" - yes that does make total sense. I can't say how your feelings will go, because there is a lot of realistic darkness to come, but also beauty and character growth and genuine emotion. I hope you do stick with it.
