I took my Modified E55 AMG to the Quarter Mile Drag Strip! Unexpected results!

- Today my 2003 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG takes a few trips down the quarter mile drag strip. The car is fresh off the dyno with the only change being a pair of drag radials. I attempt to test out the Eurocharged Tune to the Race IQ tune and also try adding ice to the water tank in hopes that the car runs faster. The results are a mixed bag as I'm not exactly sure if this is normal or the car is just slower than other E55s. Comment down below your prediction in the beginning and how you think the car did at the end.

I enjoy your transparency & honesty, better luck to you next time!
Thanks! Ill be back for revenge hopefully this month.
Alex
Try resetting the transmission then for 40 shift points nail the throttle and be ruff with the car to train the adaptive transmission to be a drag car
THanks. Literally just bought one :) Can't wait to pick it up!!!
It's a pretty decent time actually for a stock and heavy E55! Well done
Hi,
First off I want to say thank you for all the great videos for the E55. I purchased a 2005 E55 a year ago. I had long tube obx headers install this Aug. I had it dynoed and put down 434hp/484tq without tune. That is next. I was at Great Lakes Sunday 21 Oct. Air temps were in the 50s and on my first pass on street tires I ran a 12.230 at 115 mph. I had traction control on. I also want to break the 11s. I will be looking for some drag radials myself. Again thanks for the great info. On these cars.
Alex, I live my gear head life through you by watching your videos! :)
The transmission shifts sounded very slow. I don't remember an AMG of that genre being that slow, especially in a 2006 S55 AMG Kompressor that I used to drive. Maybe a shift tune would help. Second, you could also try increasing compression with a super charger pully change. Third, I'd check spark, coil pack and cylinder compression. Fourth and finally, a high octane fuel may also help with ignition of the air-fuel mixture to increase combustion.
Try to save weight by running without a spare tire and car jack. You could also try using a super-capacitor battery to save weight on drag day.
I look forward to seeing your next drag day with the E55 after some tweaks!
The car ran good man, dont worry for it not running the times u want it to run, either way the car has alot of potential, i own a CL55 AMG pretty much same drivetrain as the E55 respectively. But with the mods coming for your E55 itll surely dip in ther lower 12s or 11s!
Great videos mate, keep them coming, has the ice melted by the end of the run? I think trans is little lazy top end
I ran a 12.2 with a 2005 bone stock one that had over 90 000 miles years ago.Altitude matters .My run was in Montreal where the da is excellent
Keep up with your trans temp as well. Many transmissions work better at around 160.
I have the same year car with similar power and run 11.90s with drag radials AND only in the spring or fall AND only during the day when the sun can heat up the track. You mentioned the outside temp was 85F. You need it to be in the 50s or low 60s to run sub-12. Altitude and humidity also play a part. Here in Georgia we're only a little above sea level at the fastest track in the state, but the humidity at night will make the track slippery and cause you to petal the car. It didn't appear during your runs that you broke traction--probably the result of a nice, dry, heated up surface.I assume you were in Sport mode but had the traction control still on? If you run in street tires, you can leave the trac on because it is so efficient. With drag radials, disable trac by going through the service mode (where it won't pop back on when it feels it needs to) and get a good launch. Try manual shifting and experiment with you hitting the upshift button and then try forcing the computer to do it. The results can vary greatly. Good luck.
Manual shifting is not going to beat the computer. So many cars have launch control but when tested on the track the cars are slower using launch control. Same on the street. And so many people THINK sport mode and paddle shifters will make a vehicle quicker (0-60 and 1/4 min times)and faster (speed in the 1/4 or top speed), and the reality is that sport mode does not make a vehicle any quicker or faster, same for paddles. It’s just a sportier feel to the driving experience, nothing more. This two items would need to add power to be quicker and they do not.
@@IranAir12 How familiar are you with these cars & racing? "So many people" (average every day folks) is not the same nor even a reasonable comparison to people who race & understand the nuances of their vehicle, how to manipulate all the electronic controls and adjust for specific idiosyncracies, etc.
Sport mode can make a difference one way or another as it controls stiffness of the suspension (launch & rebound, etc.) and the cars programmed height adjustment at speed (drag). Controlling up shifts is also a common practice while drag racing, particularly in heads up racing & best time, to find that sweet spot that makes best use of the power band or mitigating the effect of a late race up shift where the car will force the late shift but there's too little track left to recover the shift time loss (these are slow shifting cars even with TCU upgrades!) or receive benefit in the power band. Messing slightly with shift points during unfavorable weather conditions can be also beneficial. In ET brackets consistency is the goal and leaving everything on automatic & throttle controlling times is best in most cases.
Using paddle shifters over bump shift of the shift lever is simply convenience & safety. Either triggers the same response.
These cars do not have "launch control", but your assessment of that 'don't break it' mode over skilled driver performance is accurate in most cases. Service mode does not equate to launch control, which was never mentioned but my only guess at why you brought it up.
You had me at burn out.
*grabs popcorn*
Edit: maybe a water methanol system could help with the heat soak? Take that with a grain of salt becuase I'm just some dude on the internet. 🤣
Also you'd be amazed at how much a good set of tires will do to a better laptime/dragtime.
Yea man you need to stall that up to about 2k and with a good pair of drag radials with proper air, 11's should be consistent
It is a luxury car and not a race car, but those are still good times. I also think the new wheel/tire combo will help.
12.2 is not bad. After a few more mods it will improve. Was the transmission smooth, was it also part of the tune. Is the timing chain/belt in good shape. Was the driveshaft okay. How did the car feel for you. Enjoyed the video!
Really enjoy the videos, I purchased a completely stock 03' E55 about a month ago and finally had it down a track. Unpreped surface, 20" wheels, lots of wheel spin, and a passenger, it ran 12.8 @ 112.2, 2.29 60' with a DA of 5950'.
I'd assume yours should be mid - low 11s @ 120-125...
These cars can’t run low 11’s and add 10-12 mph to the trap speeds without being around 625 crank hp which is around 530-540 rwhp.
Thank you so much for going to the drag strip instead of just getting dyno numbers like so many people do!!
Trap speed is the best indicator of your actual power to weight ratio, which all makes sense with your results. ET is all about that 60ft, so it's kind of only relevant to people who are really into drag racing. Trap speed is a super useful data point though!
Yea Im more of drag racer at heart. I use the dyno to tune my Trans Am a lot but thats been my primary drag car for 14 years. Although this year I haven't gone once with it. I guess 2 jobs a UA-cam Channel, 2 babies, wife and really really old house will do that, haha.
Thanks so much for watching
Alex
Dyno is definitely very efficient for tuning, I just hate it when people rely on those numbers for bragging. There's just too much variability between individual dynos. Trap speed is fairly consistent from strip to strip, especially with the DA taken into account, so I really loved the way you did this video. And I feel you on all of those life things that get in the way of racing. :)
Alex, awesome video! It was the DA. Come down here to San Diego, Ca and it will be in the 11's no doubt!!
Well if you insist, haha. That would be a great cruise out there.
Alex
Thanks for the vid really like this kind of content
There used to be DA-time slip calculators out there. I’d say the times are just a result of the DA. 12.2 to 11.8 along with the traps being low are all weather to me. Better air and your 11.8s@119-120 id bet. Great work as always brother.
Dont beat yourself up, the track is always humbling. Its a dang nice quick luxury cruiser. Jump in the TA if you wanna break the sound barrier.
Impressive times for sure.
May not be considered "fast" by many now a days but that is still considerably quick .
I do question the Intake temperatures, you mentioned they peaked at around 140°F .
Im just curious Is that IAT sensor located post or pre blower?
Thanks.
Hey man I've been looking at E55 AMGs to buy and I just watched this video and I live 5 minutes from that strip! I'd love to meet you if you go there again sometime. Maybe have an event!
Hey Alex... did you bring the E55 back to the dyno after you changed out the supercharger pulley? Curious what the HP and torque went to?
NICE, I live up north a bit in the Village of Summit. Have been to this track many times through my life.
All the stuff you do is cooler than the time it takes to say...ta day. Even if you ran an 11.95
So AMGs rock 🪨🪨🪨 thank you for the video 📸📸📸 really chill rolling the second hand with the content you do. You can take a box of crap and brighten our days. Appreciate it 😊
Love never Fails 💖
Did you remember to remove the bags of Sakrete from the trunk from your trip to Home Depot?
I like your frank opinion it’s cool and watching you at the drag strip excellent
Loved my old CLS55, great engine, useless gearbox. I ran the 77mm pulley with EC map. Those mods felt great but for me headers made the biggest noticeable difference. You guys in the US are lucky as you can run the long tube headers, here in the UK we have to run short/med headers due to the steering column being on the correct side! haha I'd also try and get some wider drag tyres, maybe some Hoosier drag tyres in the 275 - 295 range for better contact. A killer chiller would also be good for those hot days. (we don't get enough to worry about here, ha). Good luck!
Seems fair times for a no pulley car with a pano roof, pretty sure the Pano roof adds 200ish lbs to the car so thats good for a tenth or two alone. Along with a higher DA then normal and questionable DR's seems like a 12.2 is fairly on the money for what it is. Better air and a 1.6 60ft and your in the 11s.
I just ran a 12.34 in stock 18 year old e55 with air filters only "mod". Solid car!
Dude I want one of these and for it to run 12s constantly it's great
It would be nice to see it run on a less humid and cooler day.
Car needs more mods if you want to go faster. Mine was an upper/lower/hx/kleeman cams/longtubes/injectors and it went 11.4x@121. Around 650 DA. Car needs a better 60, and lower DA to get the most out of the setup. Were you running the car in the normal mode? Or the manual mode? I usually started out in first gear, with the suspension raised to get the most weight transfer. I was on a 275/40 MT on a set of rpf1s. Hope this helps!
Did u do a gearbox reset before the runs Alex ? [Sorry I know this was ages back :D]
12.2 is not slow for a 15 year old car. The new Stingray runs a 12.2
sportsmansparadice42 but this guy can’t drive
it's slow as fuck for a twin turbo v8, hell that's slow for a turbo 4 cylinder
Rayan Saidani lol twin turbo.....lol
@@RhineZee woops I don't know shit about german cars, still slow as fuck for a v8*
Rayan Saidani i dont know what you mean by “for a v8” that car can beat audi r8 v8 and ferrari f430 v8 and will run 11.8 stock whit wider stick tires
Mine is stock and i had been beating brand new mustangs camaros and challengers pretty easily...
I think the problem here maybe the fact that the engine is handcrafted by individual engineers so each engine is different, and performs different, if you got yours on friday last shift it may be a rushed engine, bur if you got yours from the top engineer on Monday morning it will have dreamed performance lol
And the driver plays a part to
If nothing else, your Benz sounds freakin' AMAZING!
Well yea I guess I got that going for me.
I would get a dyno tune. Mail order tunes are nice but I would opt for a dyno tune. How are the intakes on these cars? I noticed you didn't have any intake mods. Do you have plans to mod the intake? I love your channel man.
Don't "burn out" on drag radials. It makes them greasy. Radials don't need heat. Only bias ply slicks need heat. I drive around the waterbox, back up to it, but not in it, then spin the tires just just a little for the sole purpose of cleaning off the gravel. Also, run about 20 psi hot in them. Doing this will decrease your speed, but your ET will be quicker.
What other mods have the other 55? You should ask the guy to do a pass in your car and ask him if he feels the car is slow!! Please more content of this car
i ran a 12.4 in my e55 with just mufflers.filters and new he pump no tune
Let’s see a video on the other guys E55. Spread the wealth and let’s see his runs. Thank you for hearing me
I know I know. Honestly its a long day filming, doing stuff to the car and racing. I had my wife filming and running around so she missed their runs. Next time.
Alex
Sean attends my private track rental every year. We were tuning his car at the track on the 29th of sept. He started with an 11.7 early in the afternoon and after a couple flashes his best was 11.1 at 127. He only has headers, 175mm crank, HE and and an 80mm TB. Car has 147k miles on it. I ran an 11.400 at 125 with 1.7 60ft. But only made a hand ful of passes and my SC belt broke, forgot the spare of course, and I got tied up tuning a bunch of cars. I felt it had more in it as my mph was getting higher.
My brother's E55 ran 11.7 completely stock.
You are the best car youtuber! you are like home in front of the camera and content is good too
Thanks! Means a lot.
Alex
Try the stock upper pulley. sometime on the aftermarket uppers the springs are too stiff and won't let the supercharger clutch engage properly
looking forward to phase 2... great videos brother.
Thanks Tony
Alex
Would you want to try again next weekend 10/21 or Sunday 10/22? It would be interesting to run against my 2004 turbo clk500. I would like to go as long as the weather would be nice. Turbo 5.0l m113 vs 5.5l supercharged? Interested?
Is it possible you could be getting some belt slippage? Can't remember if you installed the green belt and belt wrap kit yet
I dont have the belt wrap just yet but I will when I do the supercharger pulley.
GREAT VID ALEX!!! DID YOU RUN WITH ESP ON OR OFF???
I ran it in dyno mode 6 out of the 7 times. The first time was just esp off and traction control came on.
Alex
Can you do a quick video on how to put the car on Dyno mode?
What about an intake to up the amount of air going in? You are really focusing on temps but how much difference is that making with a stock intake?
Great videos! Hope you get the car sorted out. My stock engine E55 runs 11.9@118mph (dragtimes certifed) at very near sea level with Ms109 race fuel mixed with pump gas and a set of BFG 275 35 18 Drag radials. Nothing else touched on the car. You can do a lot better!
Wow that's awesome!!
This I would love to see and go over the vehicle. Mine is heavily modified and my cars only runs 11.6 in 1\4 mile at 515hp to the wheels. You have a 💎 gem my friend. Hold on to that girl
Tcs/asc limiting power at change to second and 3rd gear? Could also try a lower octane fuel with the tune running rich although with the good result from ice tank maybe the humidity and temperature was too much and the knock sensors were cutting your power at some points.
Besides a potential torque converter problem, it seems likely some sensor may be throwing things off or a back pressure problem? It looks like something is choking your engine.
I am sure you take good care of it but I would suggest you put in brand new air filters as soon as you get to the track and put the old ones back at the end of the day so you have clean dedicated air filters, and pump your tires way up.
still an amazing car man , great vid
It's not that bad Alex. That's a HEAVY car and it's OLD and you're doing 12.2? That's great!! Try with the new tires you got. It's time for Nitrous Injection to get it to the 11.8 you're looking for in my opinion...but overall, that was GREAT! All your hard work paid off. You'd be lucky if that car did a 16.4 when you got it. You're being too hard on yourself Alex. Love the video....thanks! NITROUS! NOS...do it. All you need is another 100 HP. Don't go crazy with it. It you do go crazy, I want to see the chute install on the rear bumper...LOL LOL.
Most tunes is just ECU, you really need a TCU tune and yes go back to eurocharge. Very good tuners.
Those passes seem about right with your power to weight ratio. A more abrasive clutch kit might help with quicker shifts, the trans shifts too slow.
All cars will run slower in hot temps with high humidity. Your best results on a day like that is to do your runs as early in the morning as possible before the sun heats everything up. And a 12.2 for a 17 year old car that is very heavy is nothing to sneeze at. You're running the same E.T's as the Corvette Stingray.
I also spliced into my windshield washer line and tea off it to put to nozzles in front of my heat exchanger as well, and helps when squirting 2c lower, but our washer fluid is heated so that my heated washer fluid does not work, only summer car anyway
The transmission shifts really slow I would definitely try what another commentator said and reset the adaptive tables on the transmission control unit and then have it relearn more aggressive shift patterns to see if it improves the shift times. It takes off very nice just on the top end it looks like it's falling on its face a little.. Little more boost needed maybe..
Sounds like you were right on the times if the other cars were plus .3 or .4 on their runs.
hey man i've been keeping up on all of your videos, but i can't find if you say anywhere if you are on the stock upper and lower pulleys? or if you have the boost increased a little?
Hey Alex,
No in this video the car is running stock pulleys and boost level. Just mid length headers, no cats, a tune and the cooling mods.
Thanks so much for watching. More on this car coming next week including a smaller pulley install.
Alex
gotcha. right now on my e55 with stock pulleys and a worn out belt i'm right at 10.5psi peak boost on the elm327. On a friends cls55 i installed kleemann mid length headers, a brand new belt and wrap kit on stock pulleys and saw a loss off 2.5/3psi after we had a muffler shop delete the secondary cats. no belt slip basically due to the backpressure decrease. don't sweat the times, your car was pig rich with a bad d/a that day. It's going to wake up big time when you pulley down with all of the supporting mods you have.
Love both e55 and e63 but #1 reason im leaning towards e63 is heat soak, inatake temps on e55’s even with upgrades also the 5 speed tranny. Awesome strong motor and tranny but its always a uphill battle with e55’s and cooling.
Meth solves the problem though :-P I just pieced together a kit and installed it two weeks ago tapping into the wiper fluid tank. It is amazing! Temps go down when I hit the gas haha. My first 110mph pull test peaked at 91° starting the pull with IAT at 80. $300 meth set cured heat issues 100% :-P
Lowering the air temps will give you consistency but you're running stock boost, it won't give you any more power. Start upping the boost and you'll see your ET's go down.
Change the pulley for more boost. Then immediately get a custom dyno tune from a very experienced tuner. Generic tunes will not get you the times you want.
Hey Alex, what were your AFRs on those run a you said they were really rich? I've not tuned Mercedes cars but my experience with mail order tunes is they are always very rich for safety reasons (I'm sure you know this).
Jerry Eppler I go over it at the end but basically low 10s.
The transmission sounds awful lazy in its shifts
They are all like that stock. Its a tough trans but just kind of slow. I have a tune to fix that for next time.
Alex
LegitStreetCars awesome can't wait for the next video
LegitStreetCars Have you changed the fluid in the transmission? I know that a really good quality fluid can make torque converters work much better, especially with the temperatures they get to under heavy load.
Chuck scat pack redline because no TCU Tune 😂😂😂😂
This transmission is just slow its not meant for performance and E class is way heavy too, not sure about this whole luxury AMG thing (prefer lighter C class AMG and if possible with dual clutch transmission). I have the same car with classic suspension and soft high tires, great sound insulation and I just use it to cruise over bumpy Lithuanian roads.
Hey Alex, do you feel a bit let down by the VRP products after your drag results? In the vid you expected better results especially after the ice in the water tank but nothing improved. There are not a lot of companies that make specific stuff for the E55 and VRP makes a nice complete range of products making it easy to upgrade the E55. However do you think VRP product is really doing the job to your liking? Are their heat exchangers outsourced and simply rebranded? I'd be curious to see if getting big cooling names like Koyo, Fluidlyne or CSF to make a heat exchanger/rad combo if that'd improve things considerably as they are the front runners in that business. Thoughts?
No I don't fee let down. I mean in reality what was done to the car at the time of this video wasn't much to add horsepower or even fight off the heat and DA too much. They were just supported mods for me to get ready for some stuff you will see very soon. If it was a pulley and a tune and I gained nothing I'd be disappointed. I'm sure you can spend some big money on high end heat exchangers but I think the best bet is to run two exchangers or go with killer chiller. Im doing methanol injection and I think that will help a lot.
Hope this helps.
Alex
Thanks for the reply. Sound good, can't wait for your next vid- I follow your build to the T, very informative and well edited. Cheers
Seems about right for the weight of the car and outside temp. On a 60 degree day you'd probably get your 11.8.
That drag strip is nice Ive been there a couple of times.
It's normal, u need a fixed pulley end of story even with heat soak u will pull a better time. I dynod 511whp with 90 degree temps shop
This w211 e55 has ben figured out already to max performance and rwhp number/times out. Just go to MB threads for list of mods. Heavy car but your nowhere near me or limits of car lol
Cool! I nominate my 2012 Audi A7 3.0 SC engine as new ultimate sleeper. Stock its 310hp mid 13 car. Now with APR STG 2+ tune , TCU tune and few bolt-ons. Dual pulleys, Merc HX, DP's, Injen intake, 3 gall.of E85, I've ran consistent 11.2-11.3s..other A6/A7 guys have done mid high 10s. Same mods+ 104 or E40, race tires. The sauce is in the tuning and the glorious ZF8 tranny! Shiftpoints at 7200rpm..With Quattro I'm gone gone from the dig...
humidity is pretty much what killed your time. you IAT is already wayyyy better than anyone else, the car is putting down the right number, no loss of traction off the line, and two other e55 also ran slower, so yea...humidity is the only variance that can hurt the performance. if i remember right, on my c32 all the tuners had them running rich as well to protect the engine. they did the same with m113k motor.
12.4-12.5 stock is very rare and I think those runs were done in negative da. If you are comparing it to record stock times then those were done in like -5000 to -6000 da which is huge. Also a tune by itself is not that much on m113k. You ran a pretty good time of 12.2. Better DA and you would have been in the 11s for sure
hmmm, I thought you would have done better. Can't practically control temp, but have you tried rolling into the throttle? manual shifting? wheres the power band on this car. Can you try running the car in the morning?
Hi. I own an ‘06 E55 stock with 77K miles. Before I do any mods, I am hoping you can tell me which provide the best safe value for money. Given it’s a hand built engine, I’m reluctant to do anything that places undue stress on it. I’ve assumed it’s a big air pump, so anything that reduces flow restriction would be the most effective before things like smaller pulleys to increase boost. Any suggestions based on your experience will be very appreciated.
Some cars work best when you flash the converter, meaning just stomp it and other work best if you stall it up, meaning you pump the brakes and hold the gas down to get it stall up to whatever the converter can do
It's a supercharged engine. Flashing the converter won't put him at close to max boost until he's halfway down the track due to lag. Stalling it will have better results. He's going to want a few PSI already in the system at launch.
They choke up like hell in summer in the South. Anything less than 95 outside and they're fine. Get a wee bit of humidity and heat and they refuse to run fast. There was a guy that worked at RENNTECH rust had a blog years ago about the things you can do to fool the computer so it doesn't go rich and pull time.
Plm heat exchanger with split cooling, wrapped my needswing dcai with gold tape
E55 forums if u ground out the fan in comes on full blast sounds like a jet engine but works, it drains a lot from alternator so I shut it off after I stage, or when I track my car I keep it on my iat are 50c on road course
Steve Givelas What kind of heat exchanger do you have? My engine fan doesn't really pull through the heat exchanger
What is the reservoir for the ice? It looks custom that I haven’t seen in another video...
460 at the wheels should get you a 12.0 but perhaps the altitude is playing a factor?
Altitude? In Wisconsin? No.
Had an 04 w similar mods but w headers and exhaust I ran consultant 11.0 w drag radials and 10.8 w slicks
I’ve seen loads of e55 amgs in drag racing events in Denmark and they always underperform considering their hp.
Traction and gearbox I think are the main issues.
Can you increase transmission line pressure with software, or at least shim some springs in the pump?
I added a tuned trans module since this video. We shall see if it really helps out much in the next track video
Alex
I think it's too rich honestly. lean is mean, but you don't want it too lean, just find the fine line and just go 2 AFR and ignition points above that as a safety margin. you have an intercooler, so you're making good boost and not hot boost.
Do they make any trans upgrades or flashes? You could probably grab a few 1/10th's with some quicker shifting as that era of
transmission shifts so lazily. Also AFR should be no richer then low 11's so that is likely robbing some power.
Yes I have a trans tune coming in the mail as we speak.
What color combo were you running
I have been chasing my rich issues for a while. Both raceiq and logiclab tuning couldnt figure out what's going on. I suspect it's my "650cc" injectors that I got from projectb5. My afr drops to below 10 at wot. I will be sending my stock injectors to get flow matched to 550cc at 75psi.
that transmission makes me cry...its SOOOO SLOW in the shifts.
Not sure if this has already been mentioned or not. You don't want to do your burn out in the water box, doing so can wet the wheel wells and the water drips onto your tires when you are staging. Next time try rolling through the water box and then do your burn out.
Do you have tc on or off when you brake torque at 1000rpm?
3/4 year old tire compound and the poor tune got ya. I think with those New/wider Mickeys and a revised tune will get you into the 11s no problem.
With what he has done to it and it having headers already it should be just at the high 11's with his current tune.
Not sure why you guys are aiming so "high". Method is everything. My old e55 with the same tune, 010 pump, mids, MPSS, and a H/E bought my w211 an 11.7@120mph with a 1.70 60', DA was over 1,250'. @legitstreetcars speaking generally, I'd recommend leaving the pits for the line at 160*ish ECT; right at the closed loop switch.
What world are you living in? I have seen many stock E55's consistently run 12.10 - 12.3 at 111 to 119/120. This is not stock. E55 AMG's with Minimal mods just a pulley and upgraded intercooler have easily hit 11.3's at 120+ mph, a 2005 with headers, upgraded injectors and pulley 11.16 at 123.
Kilo Kountry I would not consider a car just a cruiser that can do 12's stock. That word, to me, means 0-60 in 12 seconds and 19+ 1/4 mile not 12. Also he has much more than just a tune. All those mods I mentioned were to show that because he has done more to his car than those I mentioned. It had headers and cat delete, tune, and trans cooler when he got it. He added an intake cooler, upgraded intercooler and something else. So what I was saying is that it is not stock and should be in the 11's where as you were implying it is a stock car and his times are the best possible which is not accurate. At that same drag strip, I am in his area, I have seen stock AMG's do better consistently and less mods than he has easily do high to mid 11's.
Yes, I get what you are saying. I do know that the AMG's really respond to even small mods really well or more than you would expect. They REALLY seem to respond well to the exhaust upgrades. I was not sure at first if you were one of those I see here that dont understand what an AMG is and think he is trying to "hot Rod" a standard everyday MB.
Did you remove traction control completely from your dashboard ... ?
Need much more work - shift kit - cam - heads - headers - high flow cats - exhaust - rear gear change - or a blower swap. Keep in mind there are Toyota Tundras on UA-cam running low 12's one in high 11's and they weigh in north of 5500 lbs. Nice car - good luck!
Do u empty the tank to put ice in it and does the ice block the flow of the lines at all?
No I just scoop out some water and add some ice.
Alex
they should makea tank where you could put . dry ice or
I know a guy who’s got a modded 2003 E55. He showed me a time slip with an 11.4! I wonder what mods he’s got done. I know he mentioned pulleys and eurocharged.
Would love to see a video on porting the supercharger. Not too many videos on porting here on YT. I think either people over look it or are intimidated by it.
There is place near me that is big into porting blowers. I may go over there during the winter and check it out.
What about the fuel? 93 octane? What kind of outdoor air temp where you running in?
Yes 93 octane, it was 80-85 out . 2000 DA
