    I've used pretty much exactly the same for over 10 years now, same one. It's finally worn too flat (and a sort of blue colour now) , so although I'm a bit late to the video review I've just ordered a fresh one off of amazon.
    The best solution to monkey butt ever. Baby powder, padded cycling shorts just don't cut it.
    All the best.

      Totally with you. Now that I am back out in the western states monkey butt really isn't a concern. Thank goodness. Cheers.

    I fancy one of those... I'd probably use a strip of velcro front & back of the seat to help stop it shifting, then take it off at your destination to keep dry / dry it out... Ordered!

      Great idea with the velcro, I think I will try that. Cheers.

    Thanks, Matt. I've been wanting to try one, and now I will. Also, thank you for the valve adjustment vid. That will come in handy later.

    What the hell is monkeybut

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  Годину тому

      @@pennsyltuckyden9823 monkey butt is an inflammation of the skin on your butt from dampness and/or heat causing the skin to itch and burn. This condition makes it really hard to sit because the skin on your butt is so irritated. For me, it drives me crazy.

    Quite a deal Matt! They can really be expensive. There were some good deals on SD, but not $35. - Frank

    When my factory Drz400 seat split I reupholstered the entire seat in a sheepskin rug i bought off amazon. 3seasons in it’s still holding up. The extra shag looked a little ridiculous for a couple months, but it eventually napped up well👍

      Nice, what a great solution.

      Does your bike see rain? Curious how it holds up with it permanently affixed to the seat

      @@Denali_Rebel yeah it’s gets wet occasionally off-road & when it being washed, surprisingly the wool drys pretty quickly just standing up when riding, when I wash it I just hit it with the leaf blower or towel dry it like a dog 😂
      It being wet more than 10-15 minutes hasn’t been an issue. I even used a water based contact cement to attach the hide to the factory vinyl seat without any issues. I really don’t expect it to be permanent, eventually I imagine it’ll get funky from ass, I’ll figure something else out then. But the sheepskin definitely addresses comfort & monkey butt.

    I did the same thing, I used a normal sheepskin, I eventually cut mine down to size so it didn't force my legs out to the side, glued a velcro strap onto it that goes under the seat, and I sprayed mine several times with a waterproofer to help make it easier to shake rain off it when wet, very comfortable on long trips.

      Velcro seems popular. I need to try this. Thanks.

    I’ve been using a sheepskin for several years. Works in the heat and cold

    I apologize for going off topic here but do you have a vid that shows accessing the electric connectors in the front of the bike? I’m planning on installing a garmin gps and need to power it. Thanks!

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  8 місяців тому +1

      I don't have a video for this. There is a small access panel below the headlight that gives you access to the power leads.

    I can't remember, do you have the OEM seat or Seat Concepts seat on your bike in addition to the Sheepskin?

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  8 місяців тому +1

      I have the KTM Ergo seat. It's slightly thicker than stock. I had the Seat Concepts seat but I didn't like it all.

      @@advmatt Got ya. I have a CRF250L and had my seat custom built, better than stock but still lacking. I have been considering one of those cool covers but have noticed Itchy Boots also still has her Sheepskin - even when hard rain she rarely takes it off. Must be some kind of Magic Carpet you have to try to appreciate LOL
