Hey D, I'm a pro vein popper. I can tell you that once the blood leaves the body the virus can't live much longer. The HIV virus needs a specific temp,ect. to stay live. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be careful. A lot of people don't know but hepititus, once it leaves your body, that shit can dry up and weeks later it's still active. The inmate that cleaned the blood up volunteered for that job. He gets paid his 40 hours or whatever a week even if there's nothing to clean. Most weeks he gets paid to sit in his own cell and watch tv. He also goes to a class to teach him how to deal with bio hazards so he's not going in blind or anything. Usually there's just one or two people per prison that do this.

2001, I get a letter from my girl (at the time) six weeks before my release. In the letter she told me she tried ‘crack’ the previous night.
No more letters came.
December 22nd 2001 I get out at 1030am.
Go home and walk into my brand new crack den. By 1430 I’m in cuffs on a kidnap/ torture charge on the only guy in my house NOT on crack. (Dealer).
Straight back to prison the very next morning.
2x section 18 charges and breach of my licence conditions.
Feb10th 2005 I get out again. No contact throughout sentence.
She died. 30th September 2004

Yes, TB is spread via air droplets when an infected person coughs. It's a bacteria that lives in the lung tissue. Actually when a regular person tests positive in a hospital, that information is sent out and if they are noncompliant with treatment, they are sent to psych prisons for the course of the treatment because TB is so highly contagious and deadly.
As far as HEP C, that's a liver disease that is transferred via... blood. TATTOOS and DIRTY NEEDLES. So those who are giving tattoos and getting tattoos in prison are probably walking away with a lot more than just a tattoo. They're the proud new owners of bloodborn pathogens that are insanely expensive to treat (I would almost put money on it that the prison system won't treat Hep C because of the cost) and requires aggressive treatment at that. They offer free testing at methadone clinics because obviously IV drug users are at the top of the list for the at-risk population.

I believe his niece or someone in his family used the 23&me and that's how the DNA tied him to the killings. Even hospitals don’t have a separate unit or room for HIV patients unless they have full blown AIDS, opportunist infections that are highly contagious, TB, pneumonia, or they are immunocompromised and they are actually protecting the patient from diseases since their immune system is so low and weak. They just proper hygiene and infection control methods. Besides, what so called medical or infection control professionals are gonna want to come into a prison to clean? Surrounded by criminals and dangerous inmates. I agree that the inmates shouldn’t be the ones cleaning it, but who are they gonna find willing to do it?
