Locked up a dude put a hunny bun on my bunk. We was in a dorm with like 20 dudes. I looked around found and empty bunk and went an placed it there and walked off that’s the last thing you wanna do.

@@timothyAreeves nah. I grew up around felons and they taught me how to act because they saw I was taking the same path they did. I might have been a “newbie” in there, but I had the knowledge. I got tested a few more times but handled each one accordingly and for the most part was left along after that. But there’s always going to be some hot head wanting to press someone so just had to be ready for that.

cubbiemalone49 yeah I don't know if that ones a good idea in places like California prisons. They got them units divided up into territories by race with invisible lines. It might not be a good idea to just go in the shower without knowing which one's the right one to use. That'll give you away real quick and get you hurt. In jails though that's a different story and shouldn't be a problem.

Being a 1st timer has its upsides. Once people know that you dont know the ropes or what to say of what to do. They are more likely go give you a pass if you mess up. But if you are putting up a front and then you mess up, You will get checked because they will think you did it on purpose.
Exactly. There's nothing to be ashamed of. As I commented earlier, Nothing wrong with being a fresh fish, you just gotta be a strong and smart fish. People won't jump you because you're new to this world. People will jump you if you give them a reason or excuse to. You can't control that. All you can do is stand strong and be respectful. Whatever happens after that can't be held against you.

Playing cards is trap. Specially when you are new there. You can get into debt faster than you think.
You never know how much somebody practices their palming, switching, card stealing etc etc.
If you meet some jailhouse Houdini who runs some business there you are rekt in seconds.
Better advice. Never play games there with people you do not know extremely well.
Even playing spades in the ghetto guys will peer pressure you into going into debt "Man you the only one aint got no skin in this man whats that 10 when you got his 100 sittin right in yo face you can take, man this yo last game if you aint tryna make money". Then you go ahead and start putting up money and winning then they wont let you walk until they win their money back.

Spades, Cribbage, Pinochle, Whist, or Hearts can all be played w/out gambling guys. You spend a month on the block and you'll find cats who'll play cards just to pass the time.
Playing cards off the rip is good. Gambling right out the gate is a whole nother thing.

My first [and hopefully only] time in jail I was 17 and didn't do a very good job at not looking like it was my first time. For those of you who are unaware which it seems a lot of people are, under Michigan law a person is considered an adult for purposes of the criminal law at age 17. When I got booked into the block, my stupid ass said right in the day room, "If anyone wants to start problems I'll fight, I don't care if I win or get fucked up." That was followed by the few people awake in the pod laughing their asses off at me! I was in a minimum security pod in a small town, everybody was chill and were actually really nice but I was fucking stupid! It felt like more like a frat house than jail, I saw one fight but it was mostly just a group of people addicted to drugs joking around all day. Only spent 10 days locked up then went to a rehab. It's funny now that I was so stupid back then but fuck jail, glad I grew up and got my shit together cuz I spent most of my teens on probation and in juvenile, my friends are still in and outta jail in their 30's, it's a waste of life...
Most of the prisons Ive been in here in Missouri keep incoming inmates in R&O for a few weeks. Population pays close attention to the, " First Timers" and many hussles are tried on the niave. They try to get them in debt, rob them, turn them ouf, etc. The info you provide in your videos is real and can save those wise and humble enough to pay attention a lor of headaches!. Former State of Texas CO, chiming in to second that. If an inmate doesn't courtesy-flush and stinks up the place, you will _never_ see a mob of inmates clown someone so fast! The toilet in our Visitation's strip search was the worst for that...small space, zero ventilation, the main hall's right around the corner through a crash door. A lieutenant out in that hall was on our door once, asking us if someone died in there. Inmates, COs _and_ a Loo getting on this inmate's back because he was too damned lazy to courtesy-flush! Ridiculous.

My first time was Norfolk City Jail. I was put in a bull pen (took a week before classification). It was all bloods but only one was real. He was the #1 alpha. I was dope sick so I gave him all my trays while sick. After that I gravitated to him and built some mutual respect. I didnt hide that I was a n00b. Overall I was real surprised how helpful everyone was. The mentality was it's all of us vs. The jail.

My Dad has copd. It's hard to see him like that. You go downhill fast. I don't know how much time he has. You still look young. But I can see how smoking effects people even in the early stages. I know you probably don't want to hear it. But your work ethic is so strong. I think if you wanted to quit you could do it pretty easily.

We used to tell people to go to the yard office and get their F 15 h form.. The Co's were in on it and would write F15h. On a piece of paper. Spells out fish pretty much haha

Couple extras:
- Don't reach over anybody's food tray. If you want the salt, ask somebody if they can pass the salt. Nobody knows what might be on your arm when you're reaching over somebody else's food. Plus it's just disrespectful.
- If you end up in prison, you're going to a cell that's somebody else's HOUSE. They live there. So you ask permission before you come in. And when you come in, you ask, "Where should I put my stuff?" Amd then the first thing you do is you hand them your papers so they know who they rooming with and what you're in for. Because certain types of crimes don't go over well on inside. If you messed with kids or old people you should probably be in solitary in the first place, but your cellmate's got to see your paperwork in any case to know what the deal is. And once you've handed him your papers, you go take a walk until he's had time to read them. Then you can come back and ask where you should put all your gear and shit.

I’ve been meaning to ask you if you’ve ever watched the HBO mini series “The Night Of”? Sometimes that pops in my head when I’m watching your videos. This good Muslim kid from a loving family & going to college gets himself into a situation one night trying to go to a party & ends up going to prison. Question: (anyone with real world experience inside jail and prison may answer.) What are the most important things or type of support a person wishes they had or needed from the family/friends/significant other.
So far I know people always try to acquire “pen pals” for a source of commissary. What I am interested in is support for mental state, not necessary monetary things.

Day I got in was canteen order day, I ordered 2 deodorants, 2 white boxers, 1 toothpaste, 1 shampoo, 1 soap (Irish spring baby) ,1legal pad, 4 stamped envelopes, 6 payday bars, 10 ramen and 50! Yes 50! Packets of salt. Goddam everything tasted better with some salt on it.

Felt like torture, mind games in there, and I couldn't sleep, had the biggest rd puffy bags under my eyes, i have a few funny stories- thanks for the content man.
