Absolute masterclass form start to finish. Played with complete respect and reverence. Thank you John. thank you Don Was for bring John to the Dead. Thank you Jeff Chimenti for hitting new heights with the keys. Absolute masterclass. What it must feel like to create such a beautiful sound for all to hear. Thank you.
So Bob and John did a benefit gig in Montana back in 2022...acoustic and awesome. Before they go into Terrapin, John says "this will probably be the only time I do this song acoustic"....well, well, well...never say never❤ Love some Johhny!
Having seen John do this live with Dead & Co. it is quite a treat to see him here in such an intimate and scaled-down set up doing this amazing song. The Grateful Dead played this at my first show and that set the bar for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this-thank you for capturing it and sharing!
This has always been one of my favorite Dead tunes. A special treat when they'd play it live. I've seen D&C several times and they've played it more often than not. John seems to really love it. It was amazing at the Vegas Sphere for sure.
Wow!! That is the hottest trio version of Terrapin Station you will ever come across! Thank you for keeping the Dead alive, John Meyer, Jeff Chimenti, and Don Was (can't believe he's 72). Such a beautiful song, one of my favs of the vast GD catalog.
he has been touring with them for over 10 years and still finds ways to surprise us...! he is like Moana in Moana 2....slowing turning into a demi god with some incredible super powers.
I love it how, when he's super focused on whatever he's playing, he does this pursed lip thing. that's how I know he's in the zone. also, this is my all time dead song/record, and he just SLAYS IT ACOUSTICALLY????!!!!!!
Wow! This was a seriously ballsy choice for a (almost) solo performance at an event like this and he totally pulled it off. Impressive! wag wag wag wag woof! woof! woof! wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag woof! woof! woof!
Well at least they sang aloud during the back up vocals of Terrapin! (I can't figure out) Terrapin! (If it's the end or beginning)...added to the moment.
With the rapid rise of corporate fascism in the world, I would argue that this crowd NEEDED to hear this and John is fully aware of that fact and for that we should all tip our hats and thank the man.
Inspiration, move me brightly Light the song with sense and color Hold away despair More than this I will not ask Faced with mysteries dark and vast Statements just seem vain at last
Don, you are the softest bass player I've heard... Very tasteful, but, Dude... dig in, maan! Jeff, stellar, as always. Jon~Jon, you take requests?... How about "Shine" by Daniel Lanois?
@GusMozart1 Thanks for your input, but I've seen him live twice, maybe more. Also seen Weir & Wasserman. Don is a subtle, understated player, would you not agree? If you could link me to some example where he does "dig in", I'd be psyched. 'Probably not when he's doing Dead tunes...
@@spritelysprite - I was talking about hearing him clearly on this video, where he's barely audible. I haven't seen him play live with Wolf Bros., so I can't comment on his levels in the mix at any of their shows. I did see him with Was Not Was back in the early 90's, and he was plenty loud, on an electric bass.
@ , oh, i bet he was right in his element back then! I think currently, he might be hyper-conscious about serving the music in a way that is not overbearing. He came to this late, as an already established professional; he didn’t grow up on this stuff and was never a voracious Deadhead. I enjoy his presence and hope to catch more performances; but never have I heard that he was delivering incendiary runs or dropping massive, foundation-shaking, gut pressing subsonic booms… That kinda needs to happen in Dead music now and again!
Jackyfan......France. sorry from m'y french comments but m'y english is bad...
Maybe there's like a teenager.Deadhead, that's really good with computers. And ai that can get rid of all the noise and all the people and we can just listen to the music
Pretty weird with everyone's phones, come on ya'll. I understand the irony tho of me watching this beautiful performance via cell phone capture. oh well. Still weird.

❤ I’m a huge Grateful Dead fan for many years. That was an outstanding version of my favorite song. What a beautiful job he did.
Has me missing a few good friends who've left this life... peace & love y'all
His job is to shed light and not to master ! words we all should live by
Ole’ John doesn’t miss too many notes now, does he?? Truly a master at his craft.
So Bob and John did a benefit gig in Montana back in 2022...acoustic and awesome. Before they go into Terrapin, John says "this will probably be the only time I do this song acoustic"....well, well, well...never say never❤ Love some Johhny!
those shows were cool.
That was great. JM’s “Dead” work continues to impress!

Stood there unable to move while the tears flowed. No words.
Having whistled portions of this song for decades, I love this version.
my all time dead song, and I love that he chose to play this for the suits ;)
I like that the crowd is all dolled up (Billy strings wore a suit-ish) and John is straight business casual...heavy on the casual
This has always been one of my favorite Dead tunes. A special treat when they'd play it live. I've seen D&C several times and they've played it more often than not. John seems to really love it. It was amazing at the Vegas Sphere for sure.
Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful playing on this wonderful tale of wonder.

Sorry misspelled Mayer.
So elegant! Amazing to see these masters of their craft playing at peak form.
Anybody still hating on John Mayer should watch this performance of reverence and brilliance.
Simply put - perfect! A perfect piece of music led by the master himself and musical genius that is John Mayer.
Wow, love it! Can’t wait for the Sphere this Spring!
Outrageous. He’s so great. Thank you for posting.
Many years ago…Lost in Love 😩💗
That is so beautiful. Thanks John. please keep it alive.
Awesome footage and share. Beautiful tribute. Thank you!!
Wow. He gave this the perfect feel for his sound and the acoustic rendition.
I don’t care what anyone says , this is amazing
Maybe my Favorite Grateful Dead song. Thanks John!
Absolutely perfect. Bravo!!
So bright in the sky now too.."the spiral light of Veehenus.." just beautiful!
thank you for sharing this with us
this truly an amazing performance. Thank You John and Company.
It's funny that you said John and company.Because God forbid when Bob goes. That's what it's gonna be we all hope
That was awesome! Another great take on Terrapin comes forth.
Wow love it John Myer is a great addition to the Dead Family
This is nice, much obliged for sharing.

I can’t get over how good this is!
Prove that the Dead will live forever and the story continue to be told
does it have to be thru this guy tho? Disney Dead
That's what I was thinking. Jeff and John may be playing this together for another 20 years.
Thank you ❤️⚡️💙
Look at all the zombies staring at their phones instead just enjoying the moment.😅
Great point. Why even be there. I'm tired looking at that sh.. at shows. Put those things AWAY.
their loss!
Npc
I see people recording a masterclass musician performing one of my favorite Dead songs. YMMV, and invariably will...
While you stare at your phone watching what they recorded 😘🤣
Tasteful and a fitting tribute. The spacier the better for a scenario like that night.
Wow! This was a seriously ballsy choice for a (almost) solo performance at an event like this and he totally pulled it off. Impressive! wag wag wag wag woof! woof! woof! wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag wag woof! woof! woof!
Thank you
Didn’t expect JM to be this passionate… 😮I find this worthy in a way I never felt D&C
I agree, love wolf bros, have little use for D&C
Well put. Normally Ill take DSO over D&C any day but this has me thinking maybe I’m wrong? This is badass
and Don Was and chimenti! I'd go to that show anytime!
Same. Chementi is very very underrated. Don can do anything.
That's a damn banger of a show right there and they barely sang Terrapin. Folk should be loosin their shit.
How can you not like this guy?
Outstanding
Gotta Love It!
Breathtaking! 💀🥀
goosebumps❤
amazing ❤
John is perfect
Ughhhhh. Fucking love this.
"my phone saw John Mayer live"
My feeling is: this is played as John Mayer, not as Dead and co, and it's really cool to see him wearing this hat playing this and not that other hat.
Jerry Would Love This!
Wonderful 💙
Not whistling Dixie! Hug a taper 😊
So Good JC&JM. rare & different
Awesome!!!!!
What a well sang melody line! Gentley woven.
Thanks bud.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gorgeoussssss
Wow!
That solo! Cmon yall... noone excited for that? Id be loosin my nose...
thx wow
That crowd didn't deserve this moment.
Maybe it opened up a few eyes and ears

As you may noticed. acoustic bass doesn't pick up on phone mics very well.

Put your phones down, people.
Commenting that from a phone lol. But agree with your point.
Dude, you're watching a video of someone who didn't put their phone down...
@@dustylense Only 1 needs to do it.
Beat me to the obvious punch@@dustylense 😂😂😂😂😂oh the irony. But there are more phones than faces visible in the crowd
If you don’t deserve that they have their phones out, you don’t deserve to watch the video from one of their phones.
I’m grateful ;) they recorded
so many phones. ick

PUT YOUR PHONES DOWN AND ENJOY THE MUSIC!!!!
No real dead heads there, but it was like 1000 a ticket
Well Don my Son!
👏🤩💀🌹⚡️

Sure has come a long way from "Your Body is a Wonderland", eh?
(said with fondness and affection)
sounds good! lot of rich looking folks. lanyards, phone filming and cocktail casual attire.
Nice stack of Blue Chips there John. : )

Stop the phone shit and listen, there will always be videos available that are better quality.
I didnt know Rachael maddow played guitar.
Not john performs...there is a band of amazing artists here.
What's the guitar model he playing?
Martin OM-JM Signature
@@bradwarn6953 I didn't know they made cutaways of OM-JM
Yeah it’s not one
My beloved Dead being ruined by that horrible voice😢
Love u. U look awful. Fix that shit. We love you John
Bunch of preppies with cell phones
Sorry, but those people in the front are so annoying.Have they even ever heard of a grateful dead song
Mayer is a poser leading a cover band. GD died in 1995.
You’ve never seen dead and company I’m guessing. Do it before it’s over and see if he changes your mind. Best show on earth right now!
John! The whistling needs help
Used to attend 12 step meetings at the AFofM building on Vine. MusiCares used to be called MAP back then 🥹
Thank you
