I agree she has such a gentle, kid aura. I would think that sculpture was worth more since it's bronze and collectors love Asian pieces, plus it was made at an interesting time in Japanese history.

one of my favourite things on these shows is how an owner or an acquirer just loves something and has a personal connection and when they find out it’s very expensive you see a whole history of their emotional life pas over their face. you see losses and hopes and surprise. it’s not just a reaction to the moment. it’s a journey.

It's a captivating piece. I also loved the movement and was very taken with the tiny gentleman's facial expression. I expected it to be worth quite a bit more than that. It probably would get much more at auction, but I don't think I would part with it, if it were mine.

Yeah, that piece is stunningly beautiful. It reminded me of what the Baroque movement did in Europe -- went from static, posed scenes to single moments captured in time. It's really amazing. I can see why it caught her attention even as a youngster.

It is stunning!! I give it a value of closer to $30,000. but wouldn't be surprised it went for $45,000.
Superb work, worth more, i think. Do see Hokusai's print Ejiri in Suruga Province for hats blowing away. Oh and do see the wonderful Japanese film Sansho the Bailiff
