    You suggested that there was nowhere to do grocery shopping south of delake neighborhood. You obviously missed the many convenience stores throughout Lincoln City, but even without them there is an IGA in Taft you even showed it on your video.
    One thing worth mentioning is that Lincoln City used to be several smaller communities before it became a city so each of those communities has its own idiosyncrasies. Roads End, Wecoma Beach, Oceanlake, Delake, Nelscott, Taft and Cutler City.

    Love the kite festival they hold on the beach. So idyllic.

    Spanish Head is a cool motel but I don’t think it is nearly as popular of a resort as the one with 5 restaurants and a golf course. Have you ever done anything other than drive through Lincoln City and check it’s Wikipedia?

    Super, super helpful. Please make one like this for coos bay neighborhoods, showing what the street looks like, what your view from your home would be. Don't need to see the stores or shops. Thank you!!!

      "D" Lake

    • @LivingOnTheOregonCoast
      @LivingOnTheOregonCoast  20 днів тому

      @@cameronbrewer3966 "They chose it because it was the way many of the earliest Finnish homesteaders pronounced the general term used in referring to land around the lake. When asked where they were going, they would answer, “I’m going to de lake”.
      However, there are some who believe Mr. Deuel’s account is not accurate and maintain that the letters d and e constitute a French word meaning of, from or by; and that therefore, the meaning of the name is “by the lake”."

    I will never live near a casino again. It attracts too many criminals and dopers.

    • @adammorris8112

      So, don't live near the Casino. There is a gated community right by the Casino, and from my experience I would rather not live in such a place either. Lincoln City is seven miles long, it is pretty easy to live not "near a Casino"

    Not sure if you mention this in the video but I'm curious what coastal Oregon towns do you consider quaint and charming? Like you were talking about in the beginning. I just don't have time to watch the whole video at the moment.

      Most have their quaintness and charm in one way or another. Shoot us an email and we’d be happy to discuss further!

    I live here, there are no good doctors or dentists. It’s an hour drive to find a doctor. The veggies st the store are brown and old. An old governor made a law you can’t own the beach. The schools are terrible. We get lots of crime, and drug problems.

      I live here, there are good dentists here. I don't know which store you buy brown and old vegetables. Trillium Natural Foods store does have older vegetables in a box by the door. Those are free.
      Safeway, McKays and IGA (in Taft) all have nice looking fresh vegetables. I haven't checked the Grocery Outlet recently, but last time I did their vegetables didn't look bad either.
      As for not owning the beach, I am glad. If you could own the beach then you would get people insisting that others had to stay off of their beach. The beach bill was put through by Tom McCall who was not just "An old governor" but one of the most beloved governors of Oregon.
      I assume that you have personal experience of the schools in Lincoln City. I don't.
      There is some crime and drug problems in Lincoln City, but I wouldn't have said that we were particularly bad. Most of the problems I have had with other people here has tended to be with Wine drinkers who think that they own the beach. At least they complained about me ruining their sunset by daring to follow the law.

      Traffic on 101 is your biggest danger

    • @adammorris8112
      @adammorris8112 Місяць тому +1

      I have lived here for 12 years, we do get some crime, but most of the injuries I have heard about or seen have been connected with people crossing 101. Usually at night, in winter, at marked crosswalks.
      I would say it seems a lot safer than living in a large city like Portland, but it does depend on your behaviour too.

    Major things to consider when moving to Lincoln City. WINTER and Winter Travel. ........ Tons of rain, is property you are considering in a FLOOD ZONE, TSUNAMI ZONE ? FLOOD AND TSUNAMI INSURANCE for those are on the rise daily= UNAFFORDABLE AND COSTLY. Don't forget Wildfire Zones. .Another thing to consider ? . IS YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD LITTERED WITH VACATION RENTALS? . Most likely the answer is yes. If it is not, it very well could be in the future as the City of Lincoln City has allowed for THESE BUSINESSES SATURATE THE NEIGHBORHOODS making not only your HOMESTEAD A HOTELIER ZONE , with NOISE and PARTYING happening, expecially during July 4th. RISING PROPERTY TAXES BECAUSE OF VACATION RENTALS You may also want to check CRIME RATE in the City, INFRASTRUCTURE....... POLICE/ AMBULANCE VS. POPULATION, as well as Homelessness Camps near the property you are considering to purchase. Highway 101 has BEEN A NIGHTMARE ESPECIALLY during peak seasons. Check out also, Hospital and Doctor, Healthcare availability for your Healthcare needs especially if you are a Senior. You will want to consider summer travel in this town as IT HAS BECOME A NIGHTMARE that not even an Ocean or Glassfloat can fix. A simple errand to the store = TRAVEL TIMES HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE. These are just a few of the things. Oh and the Pharmacies for Medications you need to receive for Vital Healthcare ? LONG LINES AND PHARMACY STAFF HAVE BECOME STRAINED TO THE HILT. Don't believe me ? GOOGLE IT ! IMPORTANT to look into. ! Don't forget to consider trees located on property, as well as Neighbors trees during a Winter Storm event especially.

      Are you ok? Do you need medical assistance?
      I think I understood what you were trying to say, but your shift key seems to be broken, and your punctuation keys aren't working properly.
      Like with any place that you might consider living you need to look at the pros and cons.
      In winter roads out of town might require the use of traction devices or traction tyres to navigate properly. In town this is a lot less of an issue as the marine environment tends to mean generally less snow and ice.
      The salt air, combined with the American habit of running power lines above ground means that you are liable to have frequent minor power issues. Using a UPS on things like computers, Internet devices and TVs is a good idea.
      Trees can fall anywhere in winter. Lincoln City is no better or worse than Portland. We don't get a special pass.
      Vacation rentals happen. You also can't tell what might happen in the future. Your neighbour might sell and the new owner turn it into a rental. You can't stop that. There are laws about noise at night, if you don't like the noise then you can complain to the police non emergency number.
      Travelling on 101 during peak tourist times can be frustrating. But that isn't just a Lincoln City problem.
      There is a local hospital with some great staff. There are two urgent care clinics. There are dentists in Lincoln City. The local ambulance company provides a membership program that is well worth the cost. I have had no issues getting care when I needed it.
      In general most of your complaints are true about everywhere.
