    I know not everyone enjoys wiring but it looks like you enjoy it as much as I do. Simplifying it and getting back to basics is a great way to go at it and the pay off when everything works like it should is priceless! Your laugh when the turn signal works is the audible representation of that reward. I knew it when I heard it!

      Thank you Adam and I agree, it’s not a fun task but it was needed in the situation. I dread wiring to be honest but keeping this simple made it so much easier to complete. Seeing everything work as it’s suppose to is such a reward imo.

    The replacement of the original 1970 T2 flasher relay with a new one works perfectly for LED bulbs. But since the spade pin connectors are not aligned I had to make short wire jumpers with a male and female spade connectors. Then make sure the jumpers are connected to the same pin connections; 31, KBL, 49 and 49a.

    Man I genuinely appreciate these wiring videos! Nobody does them (for standard beetles) and it’s really a pain finding decent explanations on how to do so, I’m restoring my 71’ and after watching these videos I think it’s time I go to a modern fuse design. Do you have any recommendations on how to clean up wiring and make it look nice? It’s got the stock beetle messy wiring going on and it’s driving me batty!! Thanks for the great video!

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 роки тому +6

      Thank you sir and I’m glad they are helping motivate you.
      For a stock harness situation, I’ve found it best to go wire by wire with a diagram next to you. Take pictures, label wires with making tape, etc to keep track of what goes where. Plus you’ll have the diagram to help guide you. The best way to learn is to get in there, worse case it’ll take quite a bit more time to get any mistakes sorted out but you’ll be learning.

    I like the modern fuse block. So much easier to deal with and locate new fuses when needed. The small turns in the rear are fine if they are legal. Don't want Levi to have police trouble when he drives his car around. I just noticed the sun roof. That's really needed in the southern summer heat. I even understood the wiring by the end of the video. Good job!

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker  2 роки тому +2

      Yes sir, since the fuse block upgrade things worked so well. I really think that was his main problem and not the harness.
      I’m pretty sure they are legal here, we have a few years before he’ll be driving so I have time to sort that out. I could always tie them into the brake lights and go that route.
      The sunroof will be nice especially if I get rid of the one piece windows and add some pop outs in the back! 😎😁

    Nice work Gary! I have a similar 6 fuse block I installed in my 66(herbie) to power all my add on bs(air ride, gauges, air ride controller ect) the only downfall to that style of fuse panel is it is always hot(unless you put some kind of switch between the power post and battery) I ended up using a 100 amp breaker in between my battery and fuse panel, then for all the power outputs I ran them thru a relay if I needed them to be a key on power source

    • @VWJawbreaker

    Those turn signal lights will work well, when your break lights are on the drivers have their eyes in that area.
    I used an ebay panel with 6 spade fuses and 6 realys. 1 master realy, 1 for highbeam, 1for low beam, 1 for front fuel pump, 1 for rear pump and 1 for aux. Bit of a headache to wire but no high current at the dash.

      The original fuses are good as long as the terminals are clean and have the proper spring tension to keep contact with the fuses.
