  • With a rough guess of about 8 days of work later, Sam gets back to running the main wiring harness that he started installing just after dropping the engine, a few videos back. Now with the main wiring harness through the body seal in hand, wiring work continues and by the end of the video, most all of the wiring at the front of the car is done! Follow along as Sam gets the main wiring harness run into the trunk, all of the wiring behind the dash, and at the front of the car gets installed.

    I bought a 72 super beetle a couple years ago. It’s in great shape! The previous owner did all the brakes in SS, new carb and fuel pump. But I got it cheap because she said the wiring was all messed up. So with schematic in hand I started sorting it out. I think what happened is that they were looking at the schematic and fuse layout upside down! When you’re in the trunk(facing the rear of the car) and you read the drawing so the text is right side up, it’s backwards!!!! Sure enough, I swapped the wire terminals around and bingo! All is good!

    That beetle is already better than my daily driver 😂

      I mean, a daily driver means that its driving and you’re a step ahead of this car, well at this point anyway!

    Very beautiful work. What about using a wireless key system? , central locking, map guidance system and more..?, I am waiting your upgrade ideas. Well done.

      With this car we're just trying to keep it simple and get it road worthy once again. We haven't worked with any wireless systems. Power locks and windows are possible but none of our suppliers offer anything along those lines. As far as maps go, in our opinion, nothing is better than your smart phone!

    This has been such a helpful series! Do you guys carry the grommet for the harness? Mine is intact, but quite hard.

    Great video! My '67 speedo makes the exact same squealing noise but only when it's cold. Any idea what the cause might be?

    • @Sam_Mebane
      @Sam_Mebane 11 місяців тому +2

      Most likely the gears inside are dried out. Pulling apart a speedo isn’t all that difficult. There are a few videos I’ve seen that go over the process.

    where can you find the large print wiring diagram. very informative video

    • @Sam_Mebane
      @Sam_Mebane 11 місяців тому +1

      There are a number of wiring diagrams out there including one here - www.jbugs.com/VW-Tech-Article-1966-67-Wiring.html
      If you're asking about the instructions that showed the wiring diagram for the flasher relay, those are instructions that I drew up. They are included with our replacement wiring harness - www.jbugs.com/product/JBP-113-1967.html.
