Aric Improta is the most creative drummer on the planet, period. I am inspired every time I watch him play drums or even just listen to him talk about drumming. I love how 2001: A Space Odyssey motivated him to make a cymbal "sing" in his Meinl solo. (By the way, if you'r ereading this comment and you haven't seen "Blur-Lights in the Videodrome," you need to watch it, like, now. It's jaw-dropping.)
As an artist and drummer this is one of my favorite Drum Department episodes! Very educational and inspirational to both my art and music. I have a Digitech Vocal Processor that I am definitely going to hook up to my electronic drums to experiment with that after watching this. I never would have thought of doing this until now. Thank you!
I've been screaming that he's the best drummer currently out there. I loved watching Neil Peart and Danny Carey growing up through high school, but when I discovered Night Verses, it was like discovering Tool all over again (as far as finding something brand new to you with song structure that made you think outside of what you thought music could be) and since then Aric has been my favorite drummer.
At 11:40 the painting in question is by Chinese artist Li Gongnian done in 1120-ish. I believe it is a detail as most Chinese paintings would depict the entire landscape and there would be a number of chop-seal stamps throughout one area of the work.
Well, I did not know that the synthy parts in Night Verses was all him with octapads and effects. He is an even more mind-blowing drummer than I initially thought.
This was super awesome and fun to watch! Synesthesia is more diverse and complex than just seeing sounds as colors :) It's essentially when sensory input/experience bleeds over from one sense to another. I sometimes taste sound, or feel it as a texture in my mouth. People might experience certain words, letters or numbers as having specific colors; that seems to be another common manifestation. Some "sensory bleeds" seem to be more common than others, but in theory, any combination could be possible.
@11:00 "Does that make sense?" Yes, it makes sense, Aric. I only discovered Night Verses a few weeks back and they are definetely in my top 10 of fave bands right now.
How am I just now seeing this? I try to catch every Drumeo video, and I'm a massive, massive Aric fan. Looks like I'm staying up an hour longer to watch ...
Love the idea of interpreting art into drums, this guys did amazing! wish it could be a segment with different drummers but without so much talking around it
Gonna "see" Aric with Nightverses, when they will be touring with TOOL (Danny Carey!!!) in Europe... This will probably be a "dream come true"... In "love" already.... (Seen him before with Fever333 at the Lowlands festival... ❤)
Such a cool and unique episode! Absolutely loved it! And y'all got just the perfect drummer for it! Way to go @aricimprota! You never cease to amaze the drum community with your creativity!! 🤘🏻🔥
Hello drumeo, I love your content, it's very cool to see true masters on the drums. I would like to see how Chad Smith plays the drums for Unravel's cover of Ado. It's a different rero that I would love if it can be accomplished.
I'm a visual artist (among other disciplines) and I create my paintings, installations, 3D works to music. I'm unable to create without music. Often a song is on repeat to sustain the mood, emotion, or train of thought to achieve the essence of the work. Finally, they did just show art by white male [European] artists that everyone has seen? The Mona Lisa is boring! I have a form of synesthesia where I see dance-choreography when I hear music.
Aric is so awesome. One of the greats no doubt.

So happy to see Aric on here, up there with my favourite drummers of all time and he is BEYOND underrated
It always changes the whole vibe when it's the drum avenger (Aka ARIC IMPROTA) making an appearance 🤘🏻
The challenge was a fantastic exercise in art interpretation

"The repercussions..."
I see what you did there 😉👌 😁😄
someone needs to get this man an XLR mute pedal to put off the side of his hi hat pedal for that mic fx rig.
Can you guys please get the drummer from Incubus on one of your specials? Thank you❤
Absolutely!!! José Pasillas is one of my all time favorites!
This dude is a renaissance man

An album suggestion for the comments- "From the Gallery of Sleep" by Night verses.
"art is just like music" is like saying water is just like the ocean.

Mind blown
Brann Dailior when will you upload that video? Please
All i ever wanted was to see aric and bucket head doing a collab.

So I got plenty of pedals to use, but what I mostly want to know is what mic it is and what box is used to convert the xlr signal to jack. Thanks 🙏
Conceptualist art,Conceptualist drumming.

What a drummer.. Next time record the drum takes and see who can guess which pic it corresponds too...
Where’s the Brann Dailor video????
Who could be the Mona Lisa of drumming?🤔
I think the question is what piece of music as opposed to which drummer.
2nd image:
NGHYYAAAA
Thanks.
He looks so much like a young Ian Gillan it's frightening.
It's an endless subjective loopeo
Is Aric's t shirt inside out?

Please stop letting these two commentators be on the same episode. They detract from the episode every time.
I jam to Mona all the time…..
Grape rage.
Nice intro sniff..
💪💪💪💪💪
A musician this uniquely talented should not be hosted by these two potatoes.
Brandon or any of the other guys would’ve done much better.
wuuuuhuuuuuuuuuu
its sad letlive kicked him out because the lead singer wanted to make the band all black.
FEVER333? Pretty sure it was studio interference and not letting him write
@@hydrakn sure, thats what they say...
👍🏾
The fuck. This guy is literally me
You need to get El Estepario Saberiano (UA-cam channel) on your show. Would love to see him do a “hear for the first time” segment…

Simple answer: no. Appreciating art doesnt make you good at anything besides maybe being insufferable lol
