The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is home to a variety of secretive, black operations units that protect national security. These CIA special operations units perform some of the most difficult and demanding missions out there.
From what is known, CIA special operations consists of the Special Activities Center (formerly known as the Special Activities Division), Global Response Group, Special Collection Service, and we threw in Paramilitary Operations Officers under the Political Action Group as its own section.
If you want to learn more about what the CIA Special Activities Center, Global Response Group, and Special Collections Service does in the world of CIA special operations, watch this video!

Nice
Amazing book to read people I highly recommend it. Some aspects of the ISA are written, plus a badass by the name of Billy Waugh is also mentioned, this man is truly worth reading about. Great research General Discharge, much respect and admiration coming from England, UK. Oh yeah I have to say that I enjoyed your take on the SAS and its sub branches, which not a lot of people know about and I find it fascinating to learn about whether its US or UK military. Keep up the good work gentlemen.
Cheers for the thumbs up..much appreciated guys.

My stepdad was in the Army and fought in Vietnam. He was in the unit that the movie We Were Soldiers was about. Anyway he said a group of CIA guys came out to where their fire base was. He never knew what they were up to, but they were called spooks. The rumor was they were meeting with some North Vietnamese officers that were giving information to the Americans about NVA plans and troop strength.
those North Vietnamese then were traitors to their nation
Holy crap I’ve always asked about this, my grandpa was a spook! He has plaques all around his house from his time in Vietnam . I’ve asked so many people and all I was ever told was “be glad he was on our side” I need more info on this unit

This has changed my whole life. I first served in marines, then marsoc, then seals, then rangers, then SF, then STS 24th, then Delta, then FBI HRT, then CIA sog, then SAS, and I think finally for my most elite unit I was an NYPD officer.
For me? It was mall security. Nothing has been as rigorous a challenge as policing the mean streets of the main street mall. Someone has to keep those little brats in check.

Back in 2005,on my second tour to Iraq and while in Mosul again,my Plt was doing a regular Iraqi police station check and while doing so a group of guys showed up wearing no markings and Opscore type helmets that really looked like our own CVC helmets but without the comms attachments, each had a radio and most had M4s..I don't even know who they were and none of us asked any stupid questions, they knew where to go and who to talk to.

Have you guys ever considered on doing your own podcast, like inviting certain guests who are still in respective branches wearing disguises and theirs voices changed for security reasons. This made me remember the ex-green beret that was captured in South America trying to topple a government. The news painted him as a loner then the story went away in like 3 days. Probably not F all related to this, right?
the United States government and its CIA trying to topple a foreign government. NOT A CHANCE. ;)
Green Berets can do that even without being in the CIA, each Green Beret group has a language that they are specifically skilled in to do operations like those and build relationships with governments & to train small groups. Few years ago the Columbian government posted a Green Beret group doing PSD (i think) without their faces blurred for identity protection and the entire U.S. Government went absolute ape shit, they were quickly removed and they sent in another group I think.
Surprise, Kill, Vanish is a really cool book. Annie Jacobson has some other books as well and they are all fascinating. The author also has an amazingly calm and soothing voice. I could listen to her for hours.
You should go through the military, get to devgry or delta, then join the Cia.
@@MN_Benyou should read the book. It’s goooood
Amazing and informative video!! Seriously, amazing content! And I second your recommendation for the book: Surprise, Kill, Vanish by Annie Jacobsen. It goes deep into the history of “The Presidents third option” and how the SAC started. She also had amazing sources for the book. Excellent read!

Wish I would have had access to this sort of information when I was joining the military. Don’t think I could have made it but would have loved too try. I did get to sit through part of a Delta Force recruitment briefing. Sounded really cool.
It's not about "making it", you don't get to work for it, it just, happens. It's a gamble more or less.
Love your videos and the book you recommended is a must read. Read it with pure joy 🤝🏻
You guys should do a video on private military/security contractors.
I worked with a few of these guys in my time in Afghanistan. We called them “super cool guys”. And they were too. No egos and really good dudes to work with.
They may be cool, I have no doubt. But it doesn't change the fact that they're working for a criminal organisation
Imagine a guy who gets through basic, gets through ranger school, gets through delta school and then gets through SAD training. He must be a total game changer by the end of all that training.

Gray Work is a really good book that speaks lightly on the at the time “SAD” and PMC. One man’s work through all parts of the world, but I would say a glimpse into how tradecraft was utilized at the PMC level. It’s been awhile since I read it but that’s what I recall.
Edit: the film “Mile 22” is loosely based on Ground Branch and is a fictional story.
Honestly i stumbled on gd. I have tried to to find holes in his accuracy. Havnt found many. Not that i would know but...well put together. He does his reasearch.
I personally had the privilege of serving 12 years as an Intelligence Officer in Her Majesty’s U.K Armed Forces, 8 years of which was planning and coordinating operations with the entire UK Special Forces before I ended up working on many joint operations briefings with E-Squadron or “Increment” as it is known, it is the U.K’s version of SAC/SOG.
They also coordinate a lot of things with MI6 Officers much like Case Officers, Paramilitary Operations Officers, Specialised Skills Officers and many other roles that fall under the CIA National Clandestine Services.
Great episode. I'm still not clear on the mission difference between the Paramilitary Operations Officer and Specialized Skills Officer's assignments; please clarify.
GRS- don’t forget mad driving skills!
SAM FISHER & SOLID SNAKE were both apart of the (SAD) Special Activities Division.
1.) There’s a designation called Specialist Paramilitary Operations Officer. These are former spec ops with at least a decade of experience.
2.) F6 would most definitely recruit from ex SMU SIGINT as well as ex SOT-A “knob turners”
3.) F6 can also have a NOC, a non official cover which is more dangerous as the person won’t have some sort of diplomatic immunity or privileges. The color of the passport is the same as civilians.
I live in beltsville maryland and drive by the place you mentioned every week. It says national guard and I thought it wasn’t anything important because you can see all the buildings while passing by and it’s surrounded by only a small metal fence and one gate guard.
Shhh😅
I have seen interviews of SEALs who were on the SAC who said they were so bored they requested transfer back to their previous unit. Apparently it is mostly just low key surveillance and no action.

Are you guys planning on doing videos on units like the JIB, COMTECH, U.S. Army Technical Support Squadron (USATSS), DIA's Global Security Division and Strategic Expeditionary Group (SEG), or
Can you do a video of the army infantry vs marine corps infantry, using units specifically like the 101st or 82nd.
The 2 people on herer ran their mouths to me telling me I have no clue what paramilitary is.....general discharge just proved it. Gotta love when someone's never been in the military talks shit on keyboard then says my uncle, grandfather, brother, dad whom was involved and told me. Being there and someone telling you small details....no they don't know shit.
Ground Branch (the game) I love since you can actually like play as the CIA Ground Branch, which is hella sick.
yooo this video is goood!
For someone that wants to be in ground branch I love his vid
Well the suggestion box doesnt work so ill just put it here. You should do a deeper dive into the Secret Service units. Some of the info in the old video is outdated and you didnt include all the units. For example its now 2 years to get into CAT instead of the 7 before hand, its also a special agent position only. There are alot of uniformed units as well. Another idea is a video on 75th Rangers vs SEALs. They are both mostly direct action units with different team sizes and tactics.
There seems to be no end to the special operator categories. It's pretty darn cool all the things they do. Curious to the average age of these operators.
Mid 30s to 40s
Early thirties at the youngest, I haven't watched the video yet but you need minimum 8 years to be a CIA paramilitary operator so those 8 years have to been spent quickly joining more elite and elite units, I imagine most CIA paramilitary officers have been in the military for longer than 8 years prior to joining.
A lot of Rangers, SF, and maybe even some Delta or Devgru are under 25 because of better physical ability at that age, but most CIA/ISA/RRC guys are older because they value intelligence, experience, etc., over peak physical capability. I'd say CIA SAD probably averages somewhere between 25 and 40, but the more well-known units like Rangers/SF probably average 19-35
@@JoshDownin Your ignorance is impressive. But not surprising given your account history.
@@ImARealHumanPerson may I ask the source of your deep and extensive set of knowledge, O Wise One

something so badass about having the moto "third option" just knowing dam well if your getting called people are getting clipped
Dude, a couple of things that are misleading and outright wrong.SOG GB( ground branch) consist of mostly Paramilitary Operations Officers and Specialized skill officers. The name says it all, PMOOs are case officers that are SOF capable, and they make the backbone of ground branch
.PMOO are not at all exclusive to PAG( if they even serve a major role in it). Also, I won't say that SAC is a JSOC counterpart. A PMOO isn't a direct counterpart to a JSOC shooter. They have their own unique skill set and mission set that compliments each other well. While the mass majority of PMOOS came from JSOC and Soccom, they are officers with different backgrounds with some from the conventional forces. All naturally go through OTC in the farm, but in no way comparable to tier 1 SMU pipeline, say Green team. They are not all necessarily tier 1 is what I'm trying to get at. To my knowledge, GRS are all green badgers, and serve no intelligence role ( limited support). The Collective Collection Service isnt special operations, at least by definition. They are spies who do none of the defined special operations mission sets. Definitely a stretch to suggest otherwise. Just my thoughts.
So many acronyms that I have no idea what they mean
From Australia here, awesome content, about to head into navy recruit school, one thing on my mind, become the best of the best
THIS IS AMAZING!!!
I had a family member with a secret Government unit. Back during Russia Invasion of Afghanistan. He learned Arabic, He knew ahead about America going to war in Middle East.
It's crazy to think that this information is what the Government Allows us to know about them. Theres problably dozens of other Operations groups we may never know about.

You can start in the infantry, then AIT where a third wash out. Then Airborne, where a third wash out. Then Recon or Ranger, where two in ten are selected. Then Spec ops where seven out of ten wash out. Then on to Delta…where one in fifty are selected….then maybe an AF controller where one in a hundred make it. Then….one in a hundred can make it to FBI HRT. The rest contract….That’s about 3,500 who want to, and only 25 get through! It’s tough!
