Why does Federal Law Enforcement have so many special operations units? In order to answer that question for you, you need to learn about some of the various federal tactical units. This video goes over federal law enforcement special operations units regarding their missions, capabilities, and their purpose in enforcing the law of the United States.
The units we will be covering in this video are the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT), United States Marshals Special Operations Group (USMS SOG), Drug Enforcement Administration Special Response Teams (DEA SRT), Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC), Secret Service Counter Assault Team (CAT), Diplomatic Security Service Mobile Security Deployments (DSS MSD), and the Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Operations Response Team (BOP SORT).

Fun fact about the Secret Service CAT's; during overseas missions 99% of the time they have military special operations or special operations-capable units attached to them. For example, Marine Force Recon operators and SS CAT's provided protection for the president during his visit to Vietnam in 2017, ans Green Berets were attached to CATs during the visit to Singapore

First, the U.S. has MUCH more crime and land the UK. Every day of the year, the U.S. experiences levels of criminality and danger that make the UKs worst days look like a safe city here. Secondly, the U.S. military is not used domestically in the U.S. against its own citizens. That’s why the local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have their own swat teams to assist then when stuff gets heavy. This isn't the first time this has happened
Funnily enough, In Canada from what I can remember
The mounties (RCMP) used to be in charge of national and international affairs, including intelligence (similar intention as CIA and NSA) as well as VIP protection and counter terrorism PRE-CSIS and JTF2/CSOR/CJIRU (yes, they also worked jointly with CBRNE groups to handle CBRNE threats)
Of course over time, they got stretched ridiculously thin (go figure) warranting to the government to finally putting into action officially-mandated direct action and intelligence counterparts
Fortunately this isn't like France confusing everyone by bouncing similar tasks between different groups doing the same tasks (DGSE and its competitor, I can't remember its name rn and RAID, GIGN and a couple other law enforcement/special mission units) which was brutally highlighted during the 2016 terror attacks

I hear very little of these government agency comprised of mostly scientists and engineers. I would not be surprised some of their people are currently on standby in Poland or Latvia incase Russia does use nuclear weapons in Ukraine or other nearby country. If the worst of our fears do come true, I suspect these people will be called out and likely be in the news. I doubt you can get very much on their operations as they are particularly secretive.

I don’t think local and state police departments get enough love on this channel. This guy is obsessed or mesmerized with federal and military special forces/ operations. Correct me if I’m wrong but think the only local department he has done was the Los Angeles police department SWAT team. I think it would be cool to
Cover city and state departments more often. Explain the difference between state police and highway patrol. Both are considered state troopers. Correct me if I’m wrong but this maybe because the State police specifically are considered paramilitaries and go through training as such. State police have full state wide jurisdiction, policing powers. Although their primary duty is to operate on highway/ public roadways they also carry out your typical policing operations especially in rural areas or small towns that doesn’t have a police department or county sheriffs department that doesn’t have patrol divisions. State highway patrol (besides a few like California highway patrol which is more like a state police agency) are basically state level traffic police whos primary jurisdiction is on highways and public roadways.
Their are other city, county and star agencies that would be interesting to cover like: department of Transportation (DOT) police which focuses on commercial vehicles and trucking transportation regulations, transit police departments which enforce laws on public transportation systems, stations and other properties belonging to the transportation system. University police departments that patrol university campuses , hospitals ran by the university and other properties and facilities owned by the school. Port Authority/Bridge police departments, and other agencies on the city and state levels. In my opinion this would be really cool.
