    Dude. Was struggling to beat 325 and a lot of it was because I was rounding and despite a bunch of UA-cam vids, couldn’t fix my form.
    Mentally, the “coil” changed everything for me. Just threw 360 for the first time right after I watched this video and slowed down my approach to hit the coil and plant.
    Thank you!!

    Great content -- really well edited. I'm on year 3 of serious practice (and much longer casual) and similarly just starting to hit those distance break throughs; too many folks posting about their 425 ft milestones at 10 months of total play can get demoralizing! Agree about the "high pull through", that's been the biggest roadblock for me, and I think its mostly to do with the upper arm collapsing at the body, getting stuck behind and kind of being dragged through the motion, instead of flung out in front.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so much! There are definitely people who seem to get breakthrough with distance quicker then others, you never know what people do behind the scenes tho and there are prolly areas you have understood quicker than them!
      The high pill through idea is the only thing that has helped me keep my elbow up, the throwing arm getting stuck behind is a common thing for so many people. I actually recently had to remind myself to have quick hands to make sure mine stays somewhat ahead!

    First video of yours that I've seen - great tips! It's interesting to me you throw backhands and forehands with your right hand but you putt with your left. Are you left or right handed, or maybe ambidextrous, or you only putt closer distances with your left hand? Regardless, keep up the good work!

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  5 місяців тому +4

      Thank you so much! Yea so I do all of my throws right handed but putt from any distance with my left hand! It’s sort of odd, because growing up I’ve always played sports right handed. But I eat, write, play ping pong and other random things left handed 😂

    Love your attitude, brother! As soon as you said it takes patient perseverance (years!), and deliberate work, you had my sub!
    Only concept I disagree with is the "high pull through", particularly in relation to having a lower coil extension: That sounds like a recipe for nose-up, high shots for us normies who can't get a BOSS to flip in distance competitions (thinking of AB or David Wiggins in partiular, but you really could name almost any pro)! You can use that for hyzer lines for sure, but not for distance IMO. From what I can see in the pros, having as similar a coil extension height to elbow pull through allows for the most consistent shots, which in turn will make it possible to focus on "pouring the coffee", as well as gripping the disc correctly among other things.
    I'm currently throwing ~450ft (semi-distance lines, minimal wind, flat open oval), but I'm going to really focus on the Coil concept to get my body as synchronised as possible. I've heard the tip before, but had so many other things to fix that it slipped to the bottom of the pile XD.
    Also something to keep in mind is that even if you aren't gaining ft in extra distance, if you can throw your max distance EASIER, you're 100% gaining effective distance that you can use on the course!

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you so much man! Thank you for the feedback and your opinion as well, I definitely think the high pull through is the trickiest of the tips… for me it helps me remember to keep my elbow up but I also have a more neutral (mid-high) coil unless I’m throwing a big hyzer! It’s funny you say the coil practice slipped to the bottom for you because that happened to me with my off arm😂 the last 2 weeks I have been practicing off arm things because I have noticed how much power it is taking away from my throw! 450 is a heck of a throw too, that’s awesome! I agree too that even if you aren’t gaining feet in distance but still gaining consistency it’s a win 💪🏻

    How do you have a high release AND throw nose down flat? A high release for me is either a 150ft sky hyzer or a yanked anhyzer

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  5 місяців тому

      Great question, and I’m honestly still figuring out the logic behind it myself! Timing is the main thing I have noticed that effects the nose angle(meaning, if you grip lock on a high release it tends to go nose up on whatever angle you released it on!)

    • @NickCarroll
      @NickCarroll 5 місяців тому

      Two cues to think of:
      1) pour the coffee
      2) turn the key
      Those are things you need to do to your wrist in order to set it properly when you release the disc. The "turn the key" cue is a little more helpful for nose down releases.

    • @scottw5253
      @scottw5253 5 місяців тому +1

      @@NickCarroll "Turn the key" hmm interesting. Is it a slight supination of the wrist at the release point, or are we talking about rolling the wrist into the follow through? I can visualize turning an ignition key just the amount needed to initiate the starter, if that's the analogy we're using here...?

    • @NickCarroll
      @NickCarroll 5 місяців тому

      @@scottw5253 yeah the former. You set it before you throw but it can be fine to do it through the throw. But you’re not doing it at the end, like rolling the wrist. I have a Tech Disc series on my channel and I demonstrate it in the day 4 video. I explain in greater detail in that series.

    3:54 - Three years to reach 400? I don't feel bad now. I'm at ~340 consistently after 16 months of casual-only playing and I feel like I'm stonewalled. I can reach 375 if I sky flex with no care for accuracy. What got me an extra 50 was learning how to correctly snap through the power pocket. I know what's holding me back right now is my lower body...inconsistent and poor brace. I need to get my lower body into the throw. For some reason I was gullible enough to think I could hit 400 with my first year playing.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  5 місяців тому

      Too clarify it took about 3 years to get 400 foot golf lines consistently, I was at that 350 mark after about a year and half and topping at 375 like you up into my 2nd year! At about 2 1/2 years I was reaching 400 occasionally! So it took 3 years to get a consistent golf line not necessarily 400 in general! If that makes sense! Lower body is a huge part for sure, and 340 after 16 months is awesome!

    Just to clarify, when you say coil, you are basically using your trailing arm/shoulder and pulling away, causing your throwing arm to reach back instead of pushing back with throwing arm...? That's what it looks like to me.

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf
      @GingerSnapDiscGolf  5 місяців тому

      Yes and No😅 so those are the motions my shoulders and arms are doing but that is not how my brain processes it! I literally think of my shoulders as a coil that I am coiling out getting ready for my weight to shift so I can then pull the disc through as explosively as possible! If the way you explained it is better for your brain then definitely think of it that way!
      Does that make sense? I hope that helped break it down better!

    Maybe you've sorted this out already but you're actually not planting in your throws as you describe. The heel of your brace foot doesn't actually hit the ground til after you throw. The advice you're giving is solid but I'm not sure if you've noticed you're leaving some power on the table there

    • @GingerSnapDiscGolf

      I’m sure it still happens a lot, I think I mentioned I struggle with that in the video with waiting on my weight to shift! There are definitely throws I feel my toe hit and then the shift to my heel and get a smooth pull, but then sometimes I get excited and ahead of myself 😂
