Appreciate it! I have a new Par Antonio episode out soon. Then, I'm working on another video similar to this one that should be out in August sometime!
Really well done video! I am a 67 year old male who started playing a year and a half ago. I actually found Holyn Handley's advice for wonen's backhands to be a HUGE help. I immediately saw improvement and am throwing farther than ever, and much better accuracy. Uli's advice for putting in the wind has really helped as well.
I got the power DGA on early access. I’ve only watched a few lessons but the information , while available for free thru some UA-cam videos. Having it all concise and in one location is nice
Glad you appreciate the honesty! I wanted to go into this with no prior knowledge or connection so that my review would be unbiased and authentic. I was genuinely surprised to see the positive results in my game!
I’m about six minutes into your video and want to drop a quick comment before I forget. When you’re putting you seem to stop your hand quickly and mid air when you release. What has helped me a lot with my putts is following through after I release. I used to stop my hand the way you do, and I would always miss short.
Thanks for this. Extremely well designed and edited videos. Rally enjoyed watching. As for the PDGA, I've been a subscriber now for a couple of months and for me it has helped some aspects of my game, with a lot more viewing and practice to come. Worth the relatively small investment, imo.
If you're in michigan I could 100% fix your putt. For now pick one spot say 7-15ft where you feel confident in 7-8 out of 10. Just practice that one distance until you get a pop feeling and keep doing that. Your body will adjust on the course for distance. Eagle McMahon does this and made a video about it a few years ago. Also talks about it in clinics. Pretend you're sliding the disc along a table from your bellybutton. For more power add some pendulum like Calvin. It's a good mix of power from the swing, spin from the arm and hand like a table, and touch from the loft and height you give it.
Also; I love this video. Editing is great and it feels honest and relatable. I'm rewinding and watching parts of it just to see if you and I screw up on the same thing :D
Appreciate the comment and sub! I hope you find enjoyment in some of the other vids I've made as well. This is another one I had a lot of fun making: ua-cam.com/video/i095EXvRwjM/v-deo.html
Hello Brian here, I am a thought and process coach for athletes. I wanted to talk about your AHA moment with push putting, don't disregard one because another suits you better, put both on your resume and practice both.
great video all round! It's got a slightly dated feel, but i think this makes it unique in a world of videos where everyone copies everyone else on the most up-to-date trends. Very high quality video! +sub
This is a well putt(pun intended) together video. Answering the question that has been on my mind for a couple of months. Perhaps I should try it and see if it could elevate my game aswell
Great effort in putting together this video. Nice editing. Thanks for sharing your journey. Sorry to see the injury. Glad you're on the mend. Did you ever work on goal 3 after this vid, and figure out what you need to do to improve the injury prevention side of your disc golf game? Also, nice plug of J-milly. He's a great disc golf content creator as well. Keep up the good work. Liked and Subscribed.
While the PowerDGA didn't quite help me with injury prevention, I did seek additional support to help exercise and strengthen my adductors (muscle I strained). PowerDGA does have "warm-up" lessons that I plan to look into more.
You inhale too much before you coil (hence the heavy puff post-toss). Filling your lungs with air makes your torso stiffer and you have to work real hard to coil. Try taking a deep breath then just letting your chest collapse on its own to expel air. That's roughly how much you should hold when throwing. It should be 15-30% of your max lung capacity, but should feel like basically nothing when you're standing up straight.
This was my personal experience. I needed some form of structured lessons to help me grow, and I found a lot of value in what the Power DGA is offering.
I've recently played Max Starkey Park, it's an awesome course. Just curious, as a long time player that is just now going to start tourneys, what did you shoot that landed you last? Or should I just ask, is a -3 on that course good enough to compete?
Starcke is fantastic! Unfortunately, -3 would not be good enough to compete in MA1. I would say somewhere around -9 to -12 would be good. Most MA1 players are getting the Eagle on 9 and 13.
Congrats! I set NADGT as my goal this year. Same as you, my tournament play is nothing close to my casual rounds. I podiumed my first tournament at Roy G here in ATX...MA-40. Since then, I can't get a score lower than +9. Even scored +22 at Circle C. Ive NEVER EVER scored that low. Ive improved my putting this year immensely. Next is backhand to get to a consistent 300 ft. My max ever was 390 and that was 50 ft of rolling and 340 in the air. My first ace was last year: 327 ft skip in. Even with some success, consistency is the true goal once we break through. What division are you playing?
Hey, dude. This was the first video I’ve seen of yours and you knocked it out of the park. Do you live in the Dallas area? Me and my buddies do and play some local courses. Would love to meet up for a casual round. I’ve done a fair amount of poker content myself so maybe we could swap a little UA-cam strat too.
Amazing video! One observation: when putting, your following-through (where your hand stops moving) is inconsistent which might be messing with your aim. Just an observation, you might've noticed already!
Oh I noticed lol... I've been editing this video since March and every time I got to that section I was disappointed in my consistency. Maybe I should make a video on consistency 🤔
It is always hard to pay money for content, when there is so much free content around.. Overall youtube is a better source (because it has it all), but PDGA have a really structured course, with concentrated content from top players. It might not suit your play style, and other youtube will. For myself, I joined PDGA, and I immediately saw improvements to my putts, it was night and day for me... Even my friends noticed and agreed that I got more power, and more spin into my putts. And upped my 20' putts to 80% from 20% Thing is you can get it all from UA-cam, but on the PDGA you get it all, no need to look at someone teaching you bad stuff.

I can tell you right now, I have had zero luck with Slingshot. I signed up when he was running a promotion for 1 year of his videos and a 1 hour coaching session. After signup, I had zero communication from him and was unable to access the course videos. After weeks of attempts to contact with zero response(before the 1 on 1 which was originally scheduled for next week), I called my bank and got a chargeback on the funds. Still absolutly zero communication from him or tech support.
So what I heard was the academy didnt teach you specifically any new skill but rather forced you to try new approaches to your form or methods and that was the kicker. I know you’re a big Discraft guy and technically discs dont make the player but I will say Ive learned a lot just trying a variety of different discs from all companies. Even learning new things that I can apply to other types of discs. I respectfully disagree. While practicing has definitely helped, knowing what and how to practice made a huge impact in my game. This was especially true when I won the NADGT event. @@dmcreatives His conclusion is, he got better because of power Disc Golf. But his criticism was they had contradictory and inconsistent teachings.
