Dead Space is a science fiction/horror media franchise created by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, developed by Visceral Games, and published and owned by Electronic Arts. The franchise's chronology is not presented in a linear format; each installment in the Dead Space franchise is a continuation or addition to a continuing storyline, with sections of the storyline presented in prequels or sequels, sometimes presented in other media from the originating video game series, which includes two films and several comic books and novels.
Primarily set in a 26th century science fiction universe featuring environments, weapons, and characters typical of the genre, the Dead Space franchise centers on a series of video games beginning with the release of the first Dead Space, which follows an engineer named Isaac Clarke and the mutated undead horrors that surround him. A central theme in the games is the fictional cult religion Unitology and its fanatical followers, who believe that information about an alien artifact called the Marker is being suppressed by the Earth's government. Their primary goal is to use this Marker to bring about the so-called "convergence" or "unification", with the Markers being the source of the undead monsters encountered by the series' protagonists.
The Dead Space video game series has been positively received; the first game in particular won a number of industry awards for the varied elements of its gameplay and development, and is often regarded as one of the best video games of all time by critics. From a commercial perspective, EA considered the video game series as a whole to have underperformed. After the financial disappointment of 2013's Dead Space 3, no further media for the franchise was made for the remainder of the 2010s. A remake of the first game is currently in development by Motive Studio and set for release in 2023.

It’s a nice twist that Isaac was made to see Elizabeth as Nicole under the Marker’s influence. However, I still like the original’s scenario where Nicole was truly a figment of his imagination the whole time. It feels more dramatic and pretty haunting.
I also like the effect of when the Marker shoots out the beam in the original better.
Meanwhile Isaac just facepalmed like has this woman just k herself the whole time?
Like it makes sense with Nicole being able to interact with the environment, but it doesn't make sense that the Necromorphs wouldn't have diced her to pieces while she was on her own doing shit around the ship. At least with hallucination Nicole you can make the argument that Isaac is the one doing it, thinking he's watching Nicole do it.

@@franklinturtleton6525 Not everyone is as incompetent as you think. She and her colleges had been fighting against the Leviathan long before Isaac and his crews went there. It's not like Isaac is the only one who can do things.
@@spookyperson7096 dead space extraction did something like this, where you get to control competent people. Nate was even seen using a contact beam. It'd be good if writers did more of these
What was missing for me is the way Isaac just puts his hand on his face after watching the video. In the remake he's just staring at the video and doesn't even say anything. I do like the twist with Cross, however.
Personally (it means this is just my opinion, not fact, so no one needs to be rude here, ok?) I prefer the remake one, it's really a nice, good twist. But in the original, Nicole just disappear into thin air and Isaac doesn't react at all which doesn't make sense. The remake fixed this hole, so I prefer it

I remember after doing chapter 7 I just kept wondering what happened to cross like did they just forget about her? Is she in hydroponics still? Did she die and I didn’t notice? And at the end I was:ohhh
This is honestly one of the handful of times I prefer the original to the remake.
The remake’s handling of the twist is very cool and it does tie into one of the things I liked most about the game and that was fleshing out other characters’s role in the plot.
But something about the original game where Nichole was just all in Isaac’s head is just so sad and haunting. Plus even for a silent character, Isaac’s reaction to her death breaks my heart .

Dramatic much? Nicole is supposed to be older looking, the original couldn't really portray that because maybe of limited graphical reasons.

If I remember right, Isaac is 47, and I think Nicole is around that age as well. Not sure if her age was ever confirmed.
